VASAviation - men salute Welcome Home Soldier welcome home thank you for sharing this beautiful video of one of our fallen men coming back home on behalf of Brotherhood of the highway MC we thank you
I’m not a Veteran, I’m not a pilot, Hell I’m not even an American, and this moved me to tears at the honour this man was shown and the honour he showed his Dad. Talk about spitting image too! Rest In Peace sir, you’re finally home. 😢 ❤
YOUR WORDS OPENED THE FLOODGATES. YOU HAVE A VERY BEAUTIFUL AND GENTLE HEART. THANK YOU, FOR SHARING YOUR HEART WITH US. I WAS VERY TOUCHED. I COME FROM A MILITARY FAMILY, MY PARENTS, MY HUSBAND, MY BROTHER, MY COUSIN, MY UNCLE THAT DIED AT SEA DURING WW11. BLESS YOU FOR SHARING~~YOUR WORDS ILLUSTRATE SO WELL, THAT WE ARE ALL THE SAME, IF WE ARE THE SAME IN OUR HEARTS...NO MATTER WHERE WE ARE FROM AND OUR BACKGROUNDS. THAT IS A MOST SIMPLISTICALLY PROFOUND THOUGHT, AND YOU, BROUGHT THAT THOUGHT TO MY MIND AND HEART. THANK YOU...BLESSINGS ALWAYS~~BEV~~USA, VIRGINIA
Giacomo Knox HAHA me too. I was in the living room with headphones on and pretended to go to the bathroom so my kids or wife didn’t see me... I’m still sitting in here typing this. I should probably get back out lol.
Yes, thank you so much for sharing this video on RU-vid and A Special Thank you to Southwest Airlines for bring that captain father home with his son flying the Airplane. That's something that he will never forget
My sister, a Southwest flight attendant knows the pilot and has flown with him. The military call an aircraft carrying the remains of a fallen servicemember an "Angel Flight". R I P COL Knight!
I was wondering why tower didn't refer to it as "angel flight" as they have priority, they should have, instead of just sw1221 or whatever. Then the sw889 lady wouldn't have needed explaining what's going on by the other sw pilot.
ugh... all this boot licking propaganda promoting a military that has killed so many millions of civilians in so many illegal wars of aggression on behalf of corporate industry...
They have C130's that are noted as "Angel Flights" and other planes used are "Honor Flights" . The honor flights are not designated as such due to FAA rules I believe.
I'm a British Army Veteran & I have the highest of respect for our U.S Military cousins past, present & future. It's great to see a servicemen being able to return home from the field of battle long after he gave his life for the freedom of others. So many military souls, from hundreds of different countries, are still lost & haven't been able to return home. "COL. Knight.... Stand down! Your watch is over. Your service to your country is complete". "I salute you Sir & thank you for your service". May you now be able to rest in peace & be surrounded by God's grace & love
I am now 80 years old. I retired after serving 20 years in the U.S. Air Force. Why is it that after having watched this same video several times over the past few months I still cry like a baby at the way this was done. RIP Col Knight.
Bill N because of empathy my friend. That’s what makes us human. And this couldn’t have been any more beautiful/heart-wrenching of a story. Thank you for your service and dedication. For what it’s worth, my thoughts go out to you as well.
We still cry like a baby because he is our brother or sister and he is finally coming home. He is the reason we are free. May he rest in peace and be welcomed to Gods Table.
I am a battle hardened US Army Vet and a 35 year LEO. However, I must say it's very hard to watch this outstanding show of support video from various agencies through blurry eyes. Good job bringing your Dad, who paid the ultimate sacrifice, home, and welcome home Col. Roy Knight, RIP! Lastly, OUTSTANDING Capt Knight!! A job well done.
Rip Col. Knight . No kidding anyone this brought tears to my eyes. It was great that his Son was allowed to bring his Dad back home and Love field where he last saw his Dad leave to veitnam. So glad he's back home.
As a Vietnam Era Vet, it always brings tears to my eyes to see and hear that vets of that screwed up mess are finally getting the recognition denied to them by so many back then....a stain on America that can NEVER be erased.
@Doug Kirk I think hes talking more about how divided we are politically but that we'll come together for our fellow soldiers. But I can't speak for him so maybe not.
@@Panfilo2 thats the thing tho. We are so divided now that even coming together for fellow soldiers or not, is a political move. For the OP. Nah man, America only comes together to honor the fallen when it suits the agenda. Everyone wants to honor the dead soldiers. No body wants to face the facts. Why did the soldier even have to die. Why was the soldier even deployed. Why did the leadership fail them. Why was that leadership even put there. Sadly, realistically honoring the dead just covers up the problems of our government. Soldiers who fight and die, should do it for a cause, not for a government. If the cause and government align, then it makes sense. If they don't, then why TF they have to die. Sorry ranting.
This is the truth right here! They divided asf in politics but the people themselves know wahts important and will not let politics get in the way of what really matters to them
America will always be divided. I say this is a lot. How many other countries on their Olympic teams have white, black, Asian, Indian, and any other race/nationality for one country. We have so much diversity it’s going to be tough to not be divided. So many different belief systems under one roof.
I cannot even begin to imagine the honor & the emotion behind being the one to bring your father home! Welcome back home sir! You can rest in peace now
I just wonder at the emotions Captain Knight was feeling during that flight, knowing his father was right below him in the cargo bay. One final tribute to the father he never really got to know.
"That little boy was your captain." What an amazing story and such an honor for that captain to bring his father home. Loved this and RIP Col. Knight. Thank you for your service and for your ultimate sacrifice.
You can hear all the emotions from ATCs handling the plane. Thank you everyone who didn´t stop their efforts to identify those lost in war and who who made it possible for col. Knight to return home and bring closure to his family.
BCammie2 Could be dead for 100 years, the US Military will never stop looking for you, or those responsible for your death. No man left behind is the motto and it keeps these guys going strong.
What an honor for a son, as an airline pilot myself, I can only imagine how proud this Southwest captain must have been. Welcome home Sir, Thank you for your service....
My mother’s twin brother was also shot down in Vietnam. He was never recovered. His name was Allan Ray Walsh. I’m so happy for this family having their loved one returned. I can tell you my mother is 76 and it would mean the world just to be able to bring her brother home.
@@TCPUDPATM Tell that to the German army that followed Hitler's orders. Soldiers, pilots, etc have their own souls to lose, and most do because they kill themselves shortly after returning to civilian life. It's justice served coldest for the families. I had one friend who made a chemical mixture he learned to make in the army, locked out all the windows/doors in his apartment and inhaled it. His mom had to find him dead and it was brutal.
what a wonderful ending, that he got his daddy home. Even though he's a grown man, it's still the daddy he lost as a five year old. Cried my eyes out watching that. RIP Sir.
Just can't stop crying. Well done captain for bringing your father home. Be blessed. R. I. P. veteran you do your duty for your country. Love from SA. 🙏🇿🇦❤️
I was crying throughout this entire video and I salute all Fallen Soldiers who never got to return home, you will never be forgotten, and may you Rest in Peace.
Makes me think of my brother and best friend billy roberts. Greatest driver I ever knew. You could drive anything you got in! Rip and enjoy what we all sent with you. Keep it between the ditches brother! Miss you. Salute
As a Hmong born in Laos and became hunted my the Vietcong. I want to say thank you to both Col. Roy Knight and his family (son) for their sacrifice. Hmong was not part of the Vietnam War but got drag into it. Many of our parents are foot soldiers, rescued many US pilots, yet was not able to rescue many more. I thank Col. Roy Night for his ultimate sacrifice, and grateful and thankful to his son, Captain Knight as well. I am his age and saw the war from the other side. Thank from many of us Hmong.
Shut up the fucking coward. Why don’t you say the truth about how much CIA paid you for fought again Vietnam. You guys obey orders and fight for the CIA like loyal dogs. CIA use you guys to fight for them and you licked the ass like some kind of gods. Shut your mouth up, coward.
@@Christreality the Vietnam war sacrificed the lives of 3 million people, all so that the United States could tell these people what government they should have... These 3 million dead people might not want to thank the United States for waging this dishonorable and illegal war...
I cried the first time I saw this report. Today, after all this time I still can’t help but cry. How sad we are, how proud is he, how grateful are we for his service. God be with you. Dad has come home to stay. Now he will Rest In Peace.
I cried…..🥲🥲🥲 What a truly honorable and patriotic family of heroes. 🫡 Col. Knight’s son is a spitting image of his hero father. Both also served their country. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for such a family whose lives made such a difference in preserving our Freedom. Thank you to the Knight family. We will always be eternally grateful for your father’s sacrifice, and for what you’ve done serving the public. 👏👏👏
Vladimir Hammerstein They were left behind Government lied about their presence Government lied about the cancers YOU ARE A FOOL IF YOU THING GOVERNMENT (POLITICIANS) CARE.
Thank you Captain Knight for your service and sacrifice for our country. I can’t imagine the grief and sacrifices you went through for 52 years. Thank you Colonel Knight for your service and for your ultimate sacrifice for our country. The country owes you everything. Thank you Southwest Airlines for providing the plane for the Honor Flight to bring this American hero home where he belongs. 🙏🏼🧡💙😪🇺🇸🦅
This is the second time I've cried watching a VASAviation video. The other was when that young female flight student landed the damaged aircraft alone. This is rough, because I had to relive my father's death this morning, and this brought it back again.
I remember watching that vid. She lost one of her main gear right after take off right? The fear in her voice was palpable. She got it back down, though, and was right back up a few days later. Strong mental development there. I would be fine with knowing she was piloting my flight.
I could barely see what was going on through the tears, and I’ve seen this video numerous times! What a beautiful way for a son to be able to honour his dad. I’m sure his dad would be extremely proud.
This story had tears falling from my eyes. I'm happy that capt. Roy knight is finally home and that his son was the one flying him home. Thank you for your service!!!
The water salute says it all! A fallen warrior, fellow pilot, former POW and a little Boys hero and dad is loved ❤ by everyone! Flying him home 🏡 is the treasured memory of our nation and especially his son!
@@Grimm66613 Yes we are, anyone with a heart & soul would tear up at this. If it doesn't touch you in some way, may I seriously suggest you seek professional guidance? There's obviously been damage done to you and you could use some help reconnecting to your Humanity. Good luck to you and yours!
@@Phlowermom why am I’m going to tear up over someone I don’t even know that hasn’t affected my life in any way? Also I’m just not a soft yank that’s been brainwashed by my country. Surprised you didn’t put a load of American flags and quote the national anthem after your comment.
@@Grimm66613 It's little to do with war. It's about a son, a pilot as his long-lost father was, flying remains home, to the same field where he last saw him. Next time you get a check up, ask your doc to listen to your chest; you've got a heart problem.
@@blackandgold676 he die at war, I’m pretty sure it has everything to do with it. 🤦♂️ But I’m not a soft brainwashed American, so I can see this. As I said to the other soft yank, I don’t know this person and he hasn’t done anything to affect my life in any way, so please tell me why this would make me upset? Maybe you should get your brain checked because you’ve definitely got a problem with it. Just don’t see a doctor in America because they will tell you everything is fine. As your all brainwashed the same way.
I was not prepared for that. Now I’m sitting in my car ugly crying. This story hit hard… my heart goes out to that pilot and his family. I hope they have some peace at last.
What an Honor to be able to FLY and escort YOUR Dad, a Vietnam vet BACK to his Homeland! He AND YOU are both Heroes in MY book Sir..God Bless you, your Dad and the U. S. of A.
@@dougiegraham662 It's not his fault though, is it? Blame America's incompetent government and assholes like Nixon, not the soldiers who were only following orders.
@@Penguin-kr9do I'm not blaming him, just responding to the sycophantic post declaring him and his son heros. I dont consider trying to carpet bomb civilians back to the stone age as heroic, do you?
@@dougiegraham662 You're misunderstanding. No one is saying that bombing civilians is heroic. What people are saying is that it's heroic to put your life in danger for your country (even if your country is doing stupid things).
Who in the hell can dislike this video, makes me so angry. A hero is returned home by his son... What an absolutely moving tribute and to see the reaction on the passengers; wonderful !! RIP Roy and heart felt thanks to Southwest for making it possible.
We are filled with admiration and gratitude for the fallen Col. Roy Knight who lost his life in Vietnam, and for his son Bryan Knight who, after 52 years, was able to bring him home. In the face of such tragedy, it is a testament to the strength of family and the power of love that his son was able to bring his father home to be laid to rest. We are thankful for the bravery of this airman and for his son's dedication, and we honor and remember him.
I am sobbingggggg. Thank you to Southwest Airlines for allowing us all (including the passengers on the flight and Captain Knight) to be a part of this. RIP to a hero.
My father is a southwest pilot and he has done an honor flight before for our veterans. God bless all these guys that make a difference and serve and to all of the airline pilots who work so hard to get it done.
Two heroes on that plane... Tears of sadness...respect and Honor.... Thank you for your service to this country...both of you.... And to all who have served..are serving and will serve...God bless you !!!!
Just watched this tonight 17/01/23 and cried- the Captain flying his father home after all those years must have been the proudest moment of his life doing this for his Dad ❤
What an honor. As a Nam Vet I think this is a happy ending to a sad story. It truly does mean something to the motto, Leave no man behind. RIP Col Knight. God Bless you and thank you for your service.
My tears come out from my eyes when seeing what a great honor to see the this very emotional homebringing of Col. Roy Knight to his last rest and the great honor was given to him and his family. ♥️♥️
I got my father back from the Vietnam War, broken mentally and physically. This carried through until he passed away years ago. All he talked about throughout my life is his prayer or lost soldiers would be brought back home. I think he's up there in heaven smiling and happy to know this brave soldier was brought home. Such a heartbreaking thing for any to go through and in so happy their wish was granted.
Matt344 I’m sorry for your losses 😢 coming from a military family myself, I know how hard it can be. My dad and my grandfather both made it back home safe, but I can’t even begin to imagine what you went through. Military families always take care of each other, and I’m sure others here will agree. Stay strong brother!
It usually takes a lot to make me cry, but this got me right in the feels. Respect to the fallen airman, and respect to everyone who made it possible for his son to bring him home!
Wow ! You truly resemble your Father Capt. Knight. I was totally in tears after watching this story on you tube. Especially when they said Captain Knights father was missing for 52 years, and the most beautiful thing about this story is that the 5 year old boy who watched him off with Mom and Grandma was Now the Captain who was bringing his remains home to be properly buried. Congratulations Captain knight and the Knight Family. And Thank you Sir for your service. R🇺🇲 I. 🇺🇲 P🇺🇲
I am a nurse who has worked in ICUs and in Hospice, and I have seen my share of tough bad things. But I am also the daughter of a 1st Cav soldier, and I an bawling my eyes out. God bless to the families of those that were found, and God give grace and strength to those who are still lost.
I grew up flying with Southwest as a kid twice a year to see my grandparents. As a kid getting on a plane by yourself without parents can be scary, but great crew and captains made it amazing. Always looked forward to the flights. This is another amazing captain out of the many that make their company so great.
I'm in utter tears right now, what an honor it must have been to fly his father home, what a relief to have some closure and what a blessing to have him back, o7 to both the Captain of the Flight and most certainly to his father o7, much love, much respect, thanks to the men and women like you i am free and i thank you from the bottom of my heart for that.
I hadn't seen this wonderful tribute before. As a USAF Veteran I was left speechless and in tears. I stood proud and offered my humble thanks by giving my best salute. "Old airmen never die, they just fly away." Oh I have slipped the surly bonds of earth. Put out my hand, and touched the face of God." (High Flight; by John Gillespie Magee)
Many years ago I was blessed with the privilege of studying in the US for a year. I cannot express how proud I am of the way the United States of America, the United Kingdom's great friend and ally, honours those courageous and heroic service men and women that serve their country with the greatest sacrifice. Thank you for your service Sir.
One thing I told myself as a trainee Marine Diver is.... "I pray that my father or I don't have to go down there searching for the remains of one of us" SO HELP ME GOD 🙌
I'm so glad he was able to bring his dad home. Best to you Sir and your family. Your dad made it home to be with his family. He and your family can rest in peace now. Thank you for your services.
