As a proud Maroon myself I totally enjoyed this interview. My grandpa is still alive so I know who I am not by paper work but by oral history handed down. Chief represents to the fullest. Well spoken Ina educated and articulated fashion in a modern up to date way that not only the elders can be proud of but the Youths of today can be enlightened. Thank you.
@askella A Amen to your comment! My mother's father, whose Grandfather was a slave, told him everything the Maroon did to them. The first Heroes Day was when I was growing up and attending school, and I told the teacher that the Maroons were our greatest enemies and an obstacle to our ancestor's freedom from the British. She told me that I was listening to too many Rastas. “My grandfather, grandfather who was a slave, told me, “ “I've heard the same stories, but I thought it was Rasta's propaganda,” She said. Fire 🔥 for every Maroon! The government needs to take back the land and deport them to Britain and face their racist and wicked ally.
Did you know the Maroons also captured their fellow Blacks for the slave master? That has to be addressed as well. I think the Maroons get much more credit than they deserve.
I'm a maroon. Windward, wayward, If your ancestors was a ,double agent ,wolf in sheep clothing, Trojan Horse, traitor, he would be captured and returned.
@@JahmekyaNo1 I am from another caribbean island and know nothing of Jamaican history or the Maroons BUT if you all want to cause segregation by saying the Maroons captured slaves for the white man, then make note that ALL slaves, ALLLLLLLLLL, WERE CAPTURED AND SOLD BY THEIR OWN PEOPLE. so let's start the discussion there! Let's go back to Africa, where blacks betrayed, captured & sold their own tibes to the white man so that today we can all, as descendant of slaves.... still be here fighting amongst ourselves and hindering our own progress as a people. discuss that!
@@justbelit Technically true. The real plot. Took 15 years to. Execute 1st step was to Capture over 800 5 year old kids to return. Brain washing them to carry out Spain’s bidding. They still use black people to destroy other black people. Then act as if it’s not going towards their plan.
I can officially say I am schooled today. The honesty and integrity of Chief Currie has me crying for our country leaders to take a look internally. We need to get somewhere and in order for us to do so we must learn to practice how to compromise. The treaty was for our land not freedom of the people 🗣🗣🗣 Yendi I do appreciate this interview it’s now on top ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
An absolute gem of an interview. Being a Jamaican living in of all places Belgium, I'm feeling very proud of my roots sister Yendi and brother Chief Currie. It's good to have a detailed refresher on our history and specifically the history of the Cockpit Country, which I'm feeling very proud of. Being an entrepreneur myself, I'm proud to hear of the many initiatives that the Chief is spearheading to put his/our people on the map and to do it with Divine intervention and humility. Way to go! Can't wait to visit and hope there will be a Cockpit Country spa in the making which came to mind when he mentioned Health and Wellness which is my cup of tea!!! All positive energies go out to you both for your individual and global success Much love
I am blessed just to be able to hear this interview. Deeply honored that you have chosen to interview him and share knowledge that for myself living in Canada I was not aware of. xoxo
Love, Honor and Respect to Yendi and Chief Richard Currie because really love the interview it was very informative and educational. In fact, really appreciate the Maroons and our ancestor for guiding and protecting us physically and spirtually to fight and keep our land safe.
I’ve been waiting for Yendi to interview the Chief. This man definitely knows and have the DNA of the Maroons. I have some the maroon from my grandma side. Learning about our ancestors is definitely important.
I like him. He exudes authenticity and it sounds like he has a real passion to help his people. Something we all know is missing in most governments. I also learnt a lot from listening to him. I will be following his journey from now on.
I love this interview so much! As an educator of students who are now learning about their heritage, this has shed some light on the topic. I am definitely more empowered to deliver the content. Thank you Yendi and your eye-catching guest.
Man, you cannot be an educator. You did not hear the whole story of the Jamaica, Maroons, British experience, so why would you teach this to youngsters without veting it? Man, I am embarrassed by your statement. Did you know that the Maroons aligned themselves with the British to capture Tacky, Paul Bogle and many other black Jamaicans? The same heroes that you love so much. Please go and learn the history of Jamaica.
Let's hope he is not leading up to power only for himself, you are all too gullible. After what happened last week, be very careful with these titles that are bestowed on.mere mortals. There once was a man known as Hi Excellency, we just saw what he did.
Yendi, I've applauded on most if not all your interviews; however this one was exceptional. You asked the right questions, and got the Chief to explain his intentions for the betterment of the Maroons quite brilliant and eloquently. My one critique was wishing the interview had been a bit longer. Much love, and be well.
As an Internal Auditor by profession and a past PwC employee, I'm feeling very proud and positive about where he will and is taking his people 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Don't 'ramp' with an auditor eenuh 😊🙌🏽🇯🇲 we are a no nonsense people
Absolutely outstanding work Yendi ... it is critical that we as a people acknowledge and recognize the importance of indigenous rights and rituals as well as understanding their contribution to where our country is today. Too many people are dismissive of their place and it is arrogant that the Jamaican government cannot humbly engage with the roots. Great job Yendi!!
Hey @Yendi, happy the program is back, I really enjoy all episodes and this one is at the top of my list. I really enjoyed his intelligence and he seems like a really great leader and I am sure his community is happy to have him as their leader. Keep doing great work Mr Currie.
Man with all that accomplishment you deserve to be a leader .Very bright intelligent, and a real spokes person for your people and your pride so to speak. The perfect leader not just bright , intelligent but wise. Your life hacks chief are medicines to good health and long life with piece of mind and spirit , amazing , very inspiring.
This was an excellent interview, Yendi! Smart timing too (or maybe I'm just late) ... I'm sure a lot of us are now forced to (re)examine a lot of what we've been taught/we thought. This forum also does a lot for the Chief's image as well. He comes across as more personable. #KeepGoing
WHAT A TREAT! Each episode gets better. I like Chief bawdddd! Kudos to you Chief for ALL your efforts. May our ancestors continue to guide and protect you each and every step of the way. Nuff love and respect to you. Jamaica might just be seeing me again for one (or all) of those tours.
Yendi, that was a great 👍 interview with Chief Currie. He is really fitting for that job and I like what he said about forgiveness and meditation. That is needed more in Jamaica. Great job 👏
I admire Chief Currie, he's smart and a strong leader. This is a great interview, Yendi you did it again..I learn so much about the maroons that I didn't even know about. .I enjoyed every minute of it..
You keep repeating a lie over and over and over again. Even the most educated people will believe the lies if they do not read to find out the truth. The Maroon was/is BLACK Jamaican greatest enemy during slavery. They would capture and return runaway slaves and return them to the plantations where the punishment was harsh and brutal in every way. And you believe that the Maroons were good Black people? Did you know that of all the Rebels slaves, it was the late “TACKY” who was able to inflict devastating economic effects on the plantation owners, and it helped the Americans to fight the British monarchy for freedom. Do you know who killed TACKY and decapitated him, and placed his head on a stick? The MAROONS, and not the British. If it were up to the Maroons, we would be in the cane fields chopping canes. Don't forget that the British rescinded the agreement that they had with the Maroons because the White men knew that any person who is a traitor to their race is not a patriot but someone who you should never trust, and that is what the Maroons. Snakes that you must use salt and pepper to get rid of them out of your life.
If he so good why are the rest of the marrons rebelling against him saying he is a dictator...maroons we traitor to our own black people during slavery
Wow!! I have no words!! He is a great ambassador for the Maroons! I am on my way. I have to go. God’s willing🙏🏼 Congratulations to the Chief!! Good vibes!!
I never clicked so fast.👀👀👀❤❤❤❤🙀🙀🙀🙀 what a WAY this Black man sweeeeeet💚 !!! Jamaica needs to reclaim its ROYALTY with these type of men: - Humble, Intelligent, well-mannered !... and I can say so much more
@@GoddessShekmet444 I totally agree... I am sorry ... I am " highly educated...." but I can not focus on ONE word he has said.... I reminded three* times after the first five minutes... He is SO well created 💚💚💚🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟... Thank you Lord !
Wow, life hacks, learning to forgive and move on but first accepting the situation for what it is and move on. Thank you. I need to accept something, forgive and move on. I pride myself in forgiving easily but never realized that the accepting part is so profound until I hear Chief articulate it in that manner. Thank you. A word
... wait... is it just me or Yendi is whipped❤ by him and talking extremely slower because she is short of breath to be in his presence... fuss he is so Hot 🔥🔥, Royal, wise and well spoken ! God Bless Jamaica and the Maroon ancestors as well.
That was a terrible interview! It was so one sided, She is definitely not a journalist. There was absolutely no probe into the other side of the story. The Maroons are traitors. They sided with the British, and captured Tacky, Paul Bogle, our national hero, and many other black Jamaicans and turned them over to the British to be slaughtered, so I am not sure what you are excited about. You might find him sexy, but to me he is a dangerous person who is hungry for power, and will do anything to destroy our country. You don't know the whole story, and you are going on as, if Currie is talking about a foreign power. He was talking about Jamaica. Our sweet, sweet Jamaica. His design will never be realized! There will only be one Jamaica.
@@decijohn6855 Why don't you come and share your story...you don't have to be angry...the platform is there...there is always traitor among us...you can't talk as if all maroons are bad..sweet sweet Jamaica is very sour right now...We all know we sell out each other all the time...right now in South Africa, Africa and everywhere people of color are but not everyone does it
@@juliannajames9217 No, I am not saying that all Maroons are bad. My problem is that this guy Currie wants to divide Jamaica into pieces to satisfy his power grabbing mentality, and all these people including Yendi is drooling about his beauty and intellect. His design, if it were to come through would be disastrous, for Jamaica. It would result in civil war. Also, these admirers seem to think that a foreign power and Andrew Holness is the enemy Currie is talking about. Currie pulled wool over their faces, so to speak, so they are not able to differentiate the thrust of his argument and his beauty and intellect. One of the reasons maybe is because it is not often one hears Jamaicans come on television and talk like him, I don't know. Blessings to you anyway
Well-spoken, intellectually inclined, intelligent. Born leader. I have now developed maximum respect for this gentleman. We need more leaders like this man.
This guy is well learnt. It’s amazing how much: a clean and selfless mind, a good education and a love for heritage can lead one to be so humble yet willing to fight through dialogue in order to safeguard a culture and a people. Long live the chief.
He is a very intelligent and educated young man I hope his dreams and aspirations will materialize to the benefit of the people he serves. I think his intentions are noble and I’d like to see him achieve those goals.
Forgiveness, do what makes you happy , trust in the Supreme ( God) - thanks for these messages Chief Curie. The Lord bless you and the Maroons.... 🇯🇲 by extension....
Yen I am so pleased and proud to be a Jamaican, which is, probably the closest I will get to being a maroon. I too, am very happy that the Maroons, deservedly, have this honest, open, educated and intelligent Jamaican/maroon, as their leader in CHEIF. Yendi, again you didnt buck yu toe in your choice of interviewee. I could sit at his feet and listen to his revelation of the Maroon history, which truly should be taught in schools. This forms a large part of my conformation that the greatest place on earth to be educated, is the University Of Life. Just listen to Chief Richard Currie three lifehacks. Pupa, dat could expand into a whole course.....and the recepient ending up certified. Thanks so much Yendi for this opportunity.
U people need to get this ting corrected the maroon are not a s separate state inna Jamaica with its own laws and independent government different from Jamaica
What an amazing interview, you can tell this man is intelligent and has his peoples interest at heart.. We need him to be prime minster of Jamaica. He will not sell out the country .!
That was a very nice interview. The people need to recognize we are all related. So let me be the first to extend my mind to Chief Richard Currie. I can't provide the financial support you may need, however I am educated and can provide my mind to assist you as much as I can to assist in your succeed which is coming. Peace and Prosperity to my cuzin.
I actually live in accompong, maroon town I see him daily haha 😂😂 we in the country lmfao y'all can come and see him in January the 6th when we're having our big celebration
For some reason I as told I am a maroon due to my dark skin. Never researched it. You are so eloquent. This ya interview deep and rich. I never ever commented but this right here is wonderful!!!
Trust me, i think if we knew some of these tid bits we would be so much more proud. Schooled in Jamaica and didn’t even know there were records of Nanny going to Florida and South America. Maybe 2 years ago I realized that there are still tainos in Jamaica ( but as a child I always wondered how could they “wipeout” these people) . I like this .
eeeyyyeeee BOBO SKIWANTALA ALA SKEWAH!! I went to Hampton! My X is the infamous Ginjah Munro football star of the late 70s-80s! brother also went to munro I used to hear this chant all di time! You carry yourself very well not surprised you went to munro! Big up my yute! I am also of maroon blood a lot of family in cockpit country
