Do these take 7.62 mags? I've hear that the flaps won't close or that they'll only hold one per pouch but have also heard these work completely normally with 7.62 mags
Have you compared the measurements for the Russian grenades compared to the American 40mm grenades? 14 grenades and only 6 mags seems like a suicide rig. What purpose do the flares serve? Signalling? Incendiary? Great presentation. I'm the 100th like and I subbed
I have not compares VOG to NATO 40MM no. But they're visibly different in design and shape. I can't speak for Russian military doctrine, especially around 1979-89, but I'm pretty sure they wore more mags besides the rig, both by belts and backpacks. Probably depended on mission requirements too. Same goes for flares, I can't speak for the doctrine. But seeing as they were used alot in Afghanistan, I'd say it was for signaling of all kinds. Not offensive usage. Thanks for subbing and commenting, I hope you enjoyed the video!
@@W03JokerAirsoft A little late to the party, but Yes, there were more magazines. These were often worn over 6b3 armor by special units, the armor having additional magazine pouches and grenade pouches for hand grenades. Also, 6 magazines plus one in the rifle is a pretty universal combat load. it was standard across the US and Soviet army.
@@W03JokerAirsoft Usually anything less than 6 was a "security" load, for when we worked guard details. Any time we went off base for missions we would always load six magazines on our plate carriers and one more in the gun. Seeing how many magazines things like the Lifchik and Smersh hold, it seems like 6+1 is a pretty universal combat load. For the AK and M16/M4 that's usually 210, though I saw soldiers who would carry 10+ magazines, usually vehicle crews.
@@greefingdog3732 I bought them second hand so I wish I could tell you. But I know the previous owner put effort in to it and mixed colors and chemicals.
@@W03JokerAirsoft I have the exact same problem my friend, it's not a good one to have! While I'm here actually I'd really like to ask for your opinion on AK 74 mods and launchers. I'm running a E&L AK 74MN, primarily because I saw it in your video, and I've been looking for launchers and furniture to spice it up a bit. You have any recommendations?
@@innocentsmoothi6999 depends on whether you're doing an accurate impression or just want to pimp your AK out. GP launchers always look awesome and theres lots of cool oldschool russian optics that makes them look even more badass, Google the real ones and then search for them with replica included if you're not interested in sourcing real ones (pricey sometimes)
@@W03JokerAirsoft I'm keen on a sort of alpha FSB style build, replicas are a bit out of my price range! Cheers for the tips, look forward to more videos!
its called изолента, pronounced izolenta, it means insulator or insulating tape. it pretty much russia version of western electrical tape. soldiers used it because it was extremely available and very durable its blue for the same reason western electrical tape is black, its just the standard color the manufacturer chose for the tape. its not sticky like western black tape, its slightly sticky, but it self adheres very strongly, and is very rubbery. because it sticks to itself and not to other objects, a single strip can be used many times.
