I grew snapdragons for the first time last year and I was so shocked when they bloomed all summer and also stayed green til December! I only grew 12 plants last year. This year I’m growing 144! Lol one 72 flat of Madame butterfly mixed and one flat of the rocket seed it saved. I’m so excited!

@@8cupsCoffee I winter sowed my 1st batch in Jan 2020, planted out in may & they took off. I sowed more + a diff variety in 2021 but my 2020 batch came back & were even stronger with thicker stems & more upright. I planted more in between AND also had self down seedlings come up. Waiting patiently to see if the 2020 batch comes back. Which is fine if it doesn’t bc the 2021 batch is looking like it will. So either a biennial or short lived perennial in my sunny border 5b.

I think they are meant to use for feeding small farm animals, but I thought it would fit easily in our wheelbarrow, and I can use it in the garage, to miss soils for trays or pots without making a huge mess. Hey Erin, I’m a recent fan of snapdragons myself. Always thought they were sort of scraggly looking, and overdone in so many gardens. But the one you started was really pretty, and if it’s that hard working, I’m in! I’m about 40 miles south of you and live in a downtown area, (above commercial spaces we rent out) with limited ground space. I grow my vegetables in pots on my rooftop to save the in ground space for perennials. I love mixing annuals with my perennials to guarantee color all season. Do you have any snapdragon suggestions, ones you prefer, that would be tall enough to be noticed mixed in my perennial garden? I liked the flower on the one you started in this video. My garden has a cottage garden feel, so I think they’d be perfect. BTW, they’ll get plenty of sun. I’m a new follower and have really enjoyed your content. Thanks for any suggestions.

With the Dalmation peach and being an F1, how do they get more of the same seeds then? Or are there large fields of only that planted together (like sunflowers), so that the probability will be higher? With my foxglove at home, I let the flower stalks mature on the plant and then just shake them frequently... So if it will not produce the same seed the next year or following why is it not listed as an annual? Also what happens when you let it spread seed when it comes up or will not be the same? I don't understand how they can list it as a perennial or biannual if it won't be the same. Please let me know garden answer never said anything and she saves the seeds for the dalmatian series. This is my first year with the dalmatian series for the reason of flowers the first year so I'm just curious. @@gardingyrl3501 Whoops sorry! I was copying and pasting the answer about the seed tray and your question was caught up in that. I get seeds from many, many different places. The ones I’m sowing here came from Johnny’s Selected Seeds, Select Seeds and Geo Seeds. Also I shop at Jung Seed, Renee’s Seed, Botanical Interests and many others.
