This is all true, we all know most idols have no bad intentions. However, there are a lot of things idols do need to be educated about when it comes to things they’ve said, done & worn because the people who actually live that everyday & not just for a concept or style in the moment feel that it’s not cool for them or the millions of fans watching to think that it’s appropriate or that their culture is a style for someone to look hip or cool at work when some of them can’t even get a regular job, hop on a plane or go out in public without getting stared at just because of their culture. @@DezzyMarch For sure, and to be honest, in this case it starts with educating the community. Idols literally have no idea and no means of gaining an idea until they hear (first or second hand) some backlash or something from social media. It's a result of the fact that the majority of them, sadly, aren't educated properly due to committing to life as an entertainer, and that a homogenous society like Korea that is still steeped in conservative attitudes won't have much awareness of concepts like cultural appropriation - it's only recently starting to filter through. When Twice got into hot water last year for wearing appropriative costumes, for instance, they genuinely had no idea that it would be considered offensive until after the fact - now they're aware, we saw their costumes this year being completely fine with no one appropriating anything. S'all about raising awareness and promoting positive reinforcement in the community and social media which will itself reach the companies and trickle down to the idols themselves. I might end up working at Cube next year, so who knows, maybe I can even get something through to Soyeon directly! I'm sure it'd definitely make for a fascinating interview subject...

See I don't see that there's a problem with someone dressing like another culture. They do it because they like it, not because they are making fun of it or hating on it or being racist about it. We should embrace the freedom to be who we want to be, we don't have to dress like or be like the culture we were born into in this world, we just don't. Gay is now accepted, Transgender is now accepted, it should also then also be accepted that we can dress like and be like another culture if we want to be. There should be nothing wrong with that. There are always bad apples that will treat it wrongly and do it to make fun of people, that should be shunned, but doing it for the right reasons should be no trouble at all IMO. People need to be more open about sharing their culture, you should feel flattered, not offended.

Idle has that I-don't-know-what (spanish term, I don't know if there's something like that in english xD) that makes them completely unique and above everything. I can't really tell what, but each one of them are so different to each other that they complement THAT good they reach almost perfection in every way when they're together, and that isn't something that any group has. Vocals, charisma, presence on stage, individual talent, producing, composing... I just don't know how they still are in the shadows and really gets me mad how underrated they are.
