SP 4449 Chase 3-8-1986 on it's way to "Tough Guy's" filming

This video really captures how fast these big beautiful beasts can go!

I remember these beautiful beasts. Got a picture of my late beloved Father holding me, 1yr. old in 1947 in front of a Southern Pacific Steam Locomotive. R.I.P. Beloved Dad.

This entire chase reminds me of when me and some friends chased Soo Line 1003 this past fall.

Wonderful footage, it was such a treat to see a big steam locomotive running at speed without a diesel backup.

Thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed this! Even the automobiles are now antiques which added to my enjoyment. I suppose the young man with the wooded train whistle is 48 years old now but he has memories he will cherish for years to come.

In 1986, 4449 travel to Hollywood.

I lost my father on that day, a car hit him while walking at night 2 miles from our house. And this year I lost my mom on June 14 in the hospital, her lungs gave out.

I got to watch them pull her out of Oaks Park for the freedom train refurbish in '74. I actually have a pic of me in front of her at the Hoyt Street roundhouse on her first steam.
