TVR Griffith in Spa Francorchamps on the 2013 Spa six hours race. Qualified on 12th position, but started from the pitlane due some technical problems. including 6 laps onboard.
What can only be described as a very very good racing driver well done !!!!!!!!!!! No manic over takes no nonsense hero acts just good driving !!!!!!!!!!
WOW! Is all I can say. What a "point and shoot" racing car. Nice to see a small manufacturer's car handing the 911s their lunch. Cripes - how many Porches DID you pass???
What I love about this, is that in reality you could be on-track for as low as between $10 to $20,000 against some of those cars worth $100s of thousands, even millions, and beating them.
Do you know if that is one of the 4 right hand drive TVRs of the 10 originals to use the Griffith moniker (6 left hand 4 right hand) I helped in the restoration of #6 and she is a beast.
13th overall, with 105 laps completed. But there are seven! Ford GT40 in the top ten. The Griffith Team lost ~7min. in the pits for repairs. Without problems position 4 or 5 would be possible, because the laptimes were on the same level like the top cars.
Jeez, he was so much faster than everyone else, it was almost silly. Well, apart from that black wedge towards the end of the video (@18:19), though that might have ended differently if they hadn't been in so much traffic.
there were ten! GT40s in this race. the race startet at 4:00pm for 6h to 10:00pm. there was a lot of trouble with a non working alternator and some smaller problems. but in the last hours the had the fastest laptimes of all. they lost 7 or 8 mins in the pits for repairing the car. without problems 3th or 4th position overall would be possible, like 2 years ago.
motorsportvideo Still, from looking at how many he overtook in the 20 minutes of the video, the car at least has great potential. But yeah, I've done some endurance racing myself, and sometimes the slower but more stable car can take you from behind. Reliability is almost as important as speed in endurance races.
