This style of tent is known as a hub tent, not sure why the manufacturer is using "pop up". Hub tents are gaining a lot of popularity. And some of the other brands are quite a bit more expensive. Just wish it had a zipped panel to close the over head mesh up a bit tighter for colder weather camping.
How’s the stitching, seam taping, and have you noticed any pinholes? I recently purchased a Gazelle Overland Edition and it was riddled with poor seam taping, loose threads, and pinholes in the fabric. I wonder if all these hub style tents are made in the same factory in China with the same quality control issues between manufacturers.
I haven't had any pinhole or stitching problems (or any other problems). The build quality on this appears to be top notch. If there was one improvement I would want made it would be to have neon colored guy lines but I can always replace those myself.
It might. I just shot a video with Acacia's new air mattress. It is 78"x28". Here is a video clip of it fitting in the tent: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7nDIhGTwBlk.html Maybe you can use that to get an idea of how a cot would fit if you have a cot of similar dimensions.
I have a Gazelle T3 and hate it. The door is too small, is triangular shape and difficult to put your gear in. Also difficult to get in and out. It also leaks and tore. Also you can’t stand in the T3 if you’re 6ft tall. This works similarly. But has a bigger door, you can stand in it and appears to fold down smaller than the T3
Hi there very helpful review and demo ! Can you tell me, the top windows are they mesh or plastic? is mesh, is there anyway to close them ? Thanks so much!
The top windows are mesh screens. There isn't a way to close them. The Acacia canopy does cover them more than the included rain fly: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pzbSs1xT8fs.html It can be helpful to have venting in cold weather to keep condensation from forming on the ceiling of the tent. I was sleeping in this in below freezing weather last week and it was a lot more comfortable than my traditional dome tent which has a ton of mesh screen.
@Rickmakes Okay yes got it! For my purposes it's actually for desert camping where it can be hot, cold, sudden rain storm and even sand storm ! it's good to be able to close any mesh for that last one. I'll look into this model more. Thanks again!
