This goes to show that Ethereal Snake is more than just a other animation RU-vidr. He's creates his own music and very deep in his own work by creating beautiful sad bizarre and the unknowing in every masterpiece he has made. Thank you :]
Videos like these can actually make a person who really needs it at a certain point in their lives or in their lives in general think about their problems & know that in the grand scheme of things - it'll be okay. I'm ok and you're ok. This is modern art that'll be discussed 500 years from now the same way Beetovens work is or paintings like the Mona Lisa are, just to name a few examples. It's rare to find because not many people can do it well. I mean we're already interpreting it - that one day this will be possible and the steps humanity has made to be able to do it, just to think about that for a second can give peace. It's hard to put into words how much I appreciate this kind of stuff. Thank you Ethereal Snake for making all of your videos. They're so beautiful I can't stop but come back to them a day later or when the time comes even 10 years later.
Have you ever wondered why even though most of the universe is a dark void where life can't even be conceived humans can see color? so that we fear, so that we would fear the darkness of the space, color was our boundary but we choose to go beyond it, as a result color as lost it's meaning, it's all shades of black now, when you watch the sunset in a field of flowers it won't mean anything, it won't be different for when you meat your creator in your final days, this is not a punishment, this is but a result of our actions instead of loving our colourful closed room we went into the dark outside.
Who do we come face to face with at the end of our life? Before we meet God, before we meet Death, we face someone who we've come to hate and love the most: Ourselves.
My interpretation. The astronaut is not an astronaut but just a regular man that is exploring himself. There is much to explore in himself, which is a hard thing to do because it looks like our self is spaceless. We can keep going but will find no real end of it. The man encounters a strange figment in himself, something he does not recognize. Because of that, he seeks to interact with it. By interacting with it he is getting into a chaotic realm, something he never experienced, something that he has no grip on. After a while, he wakes because of aware and finds order in this (waking up in the hallway with pillars). By finding order he can find kind of revelation (the white light at the end of the hallway). By this revelation is becoming fully aware of this chaotic part of him which (white room). This awareness shows him a side of himself he did not know of himself, a dark part of himself, a piece he did not want to know (in the Jungian psychology this is called the shadow). By encountering this part of himself he is starting a new process in his life. This start is represented by him dying. His old self is dead so a new self can start somewhere is. Or is he just on drugs lol
Damn. I honestly just thought he entered a black hole, and encountered his twin from a parallel dimension. I guess I’m lacking that ability to artistically analyze things. Just a science nerd lmfao.
Ethereal Snake's productions always have a way of keeping you on the edge of your seat. Without watching the video I knew I wouldn't waste any time watching this.
I’m coming back to this video every week and in every week at least 4 times. I’m in a point in my life where each day the video may take a different meaning and reflection toward my life. While listening and watching this my mind comes to an understanding and I can continue with my day. It’s like a therapy session but instead of a person in front of me, it’s someone’s beautiful art. Thank you for this, truly amazing.
His suit had a hole and this video was his journey to the afterlife. He had to reconcile with his mistakes so that is my he relaxes out to the opposite colored astronught before disappearing into the light... the after life
I wouldn't go looking for explanations. Everybody is able to come up with their own interpretations. I think that's what makes this kind of media so moving, and subtly disturbing. It's kind of transcendent and unique.
It would seem in his mission to explore the unknown anomaly at the outer edge of our solar system, the astronaut became the wanderer of a gateway to both space and time. After generations of wandering, the wander met a similar looking figure, yet at the same moment strikingly different. Only after it was too late did the wanderer understand what this place was, the gateway of the realms of matter and antimatter. In an instant, all was lost.
As he travels the endless void, he had no destination. he only desired exploration and to feed his curiosity. But instead only found the truth. He accepted his fate, and found his conclusion. that we all are temporary and nothing but a microscopic anomaly derived from the death of celestial beings. our only true path is to decay and become nothing. Become as empty as the void itself. He found salvation, in death. There is no meaning, only existence.
This is literally the most beautiful thing I have seen which was only 4 minutes long. Man It makes my head hurt. Seriously, I feel like I could write an essay on this. God bless you, wish I had the money to be a patron
What if the astronaut died in an accident and that is what happens when all people die? You're met by a blob like visitor and meet the alternate you/maybe it was just his last experience
But did (s)he actually? Or did (s)he simply fail to make inside the object and merely floated there and died? Or was the black astronaut in the object death and swapped places with the white astronaut?
"We as humans look for light throughout our whole lives, we fear the darkness because it symbolizes the unknown, but we never get to know how absolute light feels like either. So when we finally find it, we can't do anything with it. I'd much rather be stuck in darkness, and be the light of that place. " - my drunk ass
Ever since Mickey chose what was best for his country, ethereal snake has been in a deep depression. His animations take longer. His days are counted by and the men on the moon salute knowing another king is slowing his rule
@@---bt8qz i can simply delete my comment explaining the joke. i figured if i didnt go ahead and explain it then i would be constantly getting replies by people who missed the joke like that one guy. Damn if i do damned if i dont
I don’t have a very big brain when it comes to interpretation on videos like this but I do know that this is art even if the own creator don’t think like that cuz there is a message in this and even if he did this without any meaning we can give it.I really love this channel because it’s never a full nonsense, god even the mickey one made me think about life and friendship. The person behind this channel is truly an artist, both with his videos or music
I cant get over the fact that this animation style is like nothing I've ever seen before. This is so beautiful and different from every other animation I've seen on youtube. Its breath taking, surreal, and downright brilliant
I still believe this is the greatest video on the platform. I come back to it every month or so, the music and story really make you feel something you cant explain
I’ve watched this video every few months since its release. Something about it cannot be explained, and I believe it to be the most moving piece of art I’ve seen.
You can interpret this in many ways. Did he come to terms with his past self? Did he become at peace while floating in the unhearing abyss of space? Its amazing, and I love it!
The idiot fucking touched his anti-matter doppelganger and exploded them both. Lesson 1 of the universe, never touch antimatter, or let anything touch antimatter.
Time is relative. Maybe he came across a singularity or an anomaly that made him spend thousands of years in the span of just mere seconds for people outside.
I think this video is the mind of someone who thinks he is looking for something, but is actually trying to find himself and when he finally realizes that his search ends or, in other words, it dies.
Not sure if beautiful is the exact word I'd use. As much as I love space it is emptiness, nothing. When you were a kid or maybe older, and swam in the ocean perhaps on a family trip, and you've moved over a deeper patch for a second you may have felt a little dread when you've seen that depth. For a second you felt something inside you that didn't like the fact that you can barely see the bottom, and how easily you'd drown if you weren't a good swimmer. For a second you simply felt your mortality, and how fragile your existence is. And space is that deep void underneath you, but it's not 10 meters deep, it's millions of kilometres in all directions, and the water never pushes back, never allows you to propel yourself, and you can hold your breath for hours in that bulky suit, but if you're not attached to anything you will keep sinking for eternity. Is it a good kind of horror? Definitely. Is it beautiful? Not my wordof choice.
Came to this channel for memes when I was a person who wouldn't have cared about this channel otherwise. Feels weird to come back and appreciate the artistic side of this channel after becoming more interested in art. That aside, great job. This is a masterpiece. Whatever the meaning of this is, or if it even has one, this FEELS significant, as if every moment is more precious than anything that you could comprehend. Its strangely contradictory to the relative insignifance of man compared to the vastness, complexity, and power of space. For me, one meaning of this is death the astronaut was worth it just for those few precious moments, just to experience the meeting with life you'd never known existed. Just to have the knowledge that there is life beyond earth, that we are not alone.
"As I walked down that path, with the massive pillars protecting me, I felt safe for the first time in a long time. I still didn't know if I was ready for this, or even if I should be, but that didn't matter anymore. This was it, my final destination or my new beginning. I felt it. But as I walked down that path to the big unknown, I didn't care if it was either the first or the second. I knew that, whatever was going to happen, I will be free ones again. "I am going to shake his hand, and I will find peace" is the only thing I thought about. And I was right. I am gone now. I am free."
Space horror is so underrated. Because it doesn't have to be monsters or aliens. The mystique of the expansive void of our existence is beyond our own imaginations at times. The truths that lie without to reveal the unknowns within. A beautiful piece, incredibly thematic. The hallway was perfectly done, the meeting of the self symbolic. As if all had been answered, and the question of life was no longer in need of an answer.
You know even the aliens are underrated. When we think of extraterrestrial life we think of Aliens that try to invade earth with their later guns but we also forget that aliens are also living things. Why would a alien want to attack a unknown planet? What if they are also trying to find extraterrestrial life? If they arrived on our planet they would be also afraid and very confused. A good example would be a movie like Annihilation.
I interpret this as a calling, the astronaut was meant to come here, and die here, as if the anti-matter showed him the information that he longed for before he died. Almost like he learned everything possibly fathomable, only to understand that death is a natural part of life. And he died in piece.
exactly, I was wondering if this was done in a 3D software with editable shaders. Only animating the characters and objects but shading with a specific shader. This can be done in unity and blender afaik but I am not sure.
The man journeyed through the stellar universe to find existence other than himself, for the many years that he had been searching, he had still found no one... He wandered until he found the void, in which he looked onto it with astonishment, he had never in his years seen anything like it, but something was about it that he could not comprehend, he felt a force guiding him towards it, so he approached. He reached the edge of the void and wondered what he would see, so he reached out... after a flash of darkness he saw everything that makes the universe, the very strings that hold it together. He felt as if he was meeting the very thing that created the universe itself... After a moment of trying to comprehend what he saw, he found himself on the ground, surrounded by columns. He looked around and saw a light. He knew this light would hold his answer that he had longed for, so he walked into it. When he reached the light the man saw his answer, to his surprise, he saw himself... The man reached into the void looking for answers, the man looked for something more, something more than the lonely darkness that he knew way to well, but he only found himself, and at that moment he realized something, he was truly the last soul in the universe, and with that he accepted his fate, he accepted that he... was the end.
