I'm so happy to see a companion build in space engineers, thats good but howy sh** thats way better then i thought it was going to be when i was told to look it up. It's so good i love your design.
Have you ever considered creating a defensive version of this? I’ve always had a dream of a companion mech that can hunker down with shields/armor to create a mobile defensive position for ground troops. Also would make for good FOB equipment as it could easily block of a tunnel or tight gap to make a quick sealed in base
should add some more armor to the legs so you can use them as cover, or maybe a deployable sheet of armor when it stops, also how do you control the robotic arms so well?
@@BlackArmor718 make it fold out of a box into the walker like a transformer you're enough of a wizz to pull it off just pray to clang before every test run
Oh, 100% for sure, wild card after wild card. That whole mission was a dumpster 🔥. Sadly, IRL I don't expect Elons mars base plans to fair any differently. That is assuming they survive the journey all of the way there, + stick the landing just for starters. No matter how cool or interesting I think the venture is, I would still have to say that it's a massive waste of time, lives, & fuel resources. Additionally I'm uncertain as to how much trust u could place in Spot or any of the other creations coming out of Boston Dynamics these days seeing as how the company has been purchased by Google/Alphabet. China could at any time pressure Google into making those bots covertly sabotage the entire operation in a multitude of different ways.
Yeah, well I put wheels on my box and now it drives. LOL. This is awesome dude! Glad to see another amazing build from you! Been waiting to see what you will make with the new blocks and weapons! Some amazing mechs are sure to come!
Yeah I can probably make like some kind of stiff legged Tachikoma with static limbs, but Black Armor could probably make them not only fully poseable but somehow get them to talk like Japanese school girls too
You're a goddamn master builder. This is the kinda content I've been longing for since the update, but RU-vid keeps shoving 30 second clips in my feed. Everyone and their mom is posting how to make the ball turrets. Those are cool, but this, this is what I'm after!
I don't think SE is nearly stable enough, but i'm waiting for the moment it becomes possible to make decently functioning(probably with a LOT of scripting assistance) Mobile Suits in game. The thing that will genuinely surprise me and amaze me the most is if someone can not only make a functioning mobile suit, but make one that can join to its various parts in-air. Think the Impulse Gundam, complete with striker packs.
Love your creations. There is a script which uses camera raytraycing to have a drone follow the player around like a pet while logging the path, so you can send it back on it's own. I wonder if that could be repurposed for controlling a walker like this.
That is really awesome. I did not know that this is even possible in vanilla SE and your control system is genious. It looks kind of like a trained horse reacting to its human, only in this case it is "ai" reacting to your movements.
Okay, just seeing multiple of these companions air dropped from an air ship, along with a tactical team would be a site to see. Queue Spectral reference
7:34 "Let's face it. This gun is cool..." *Fires first gun* "But, it's not quite this cool..." *Fires the second gun for a millisecond and then immediately plays an ad for Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of war mobile game*
Your builds are some of the only blueprints I use that I didn't make myself. I should probably learn to build mechs and more automated systems, but I just don't have the patience or good standing with Lord Clang you seem to have. Hell, I made automated retractable landing gear, and the damn things keep making my ship try to do a back flip in flight. Subgrids and I don't seem to get along. 😮💨
I too have very few bps that I didn't create, so I understand the depth of that compliment. Mechs and automation is the most rewarding stuff you can make. Clang is no match for willpower
Are they 100% vanilla, or do they require scripts? I’m a console player and want to make walkers like this, but I’ve always seen mentions of scripts, which are disabled on console. If these are made using just timer blocks, then I’m gonna take a jab at making something similar. Awesome build!
@@BlackArmor718 thank you so much for responding man! I’ve been testing the sequence on just a single leg that I’ve built, but I can’t seem to get it to move smoothly like yours. Is it possible to download your creation on Xbox so that I can view how it works?
4:16 - I discovered a year or so ago that if you hold ALT while in control of a turret, you can move your ship instead of the turret while in the turret. Is this still valid?
@@BlackArmor718 I also remember accidentally discovering way back, that you can still drive a rover when in a turret; that WASD still send input to the wheels.
Brilliant, as usual. Why not have the platform swap out different tools like a welder, a crane to salvage ships (etc) with, a drilling system with an ore detector, and of course weapons making the walker and other vehicles more versatile? I usually only use one weapon, the biggest and hardest hitting one.
@@BlackArmor718 thanks for the idea but I’m honestly probably too incompetent to do anything like that lololol I’ll figure it out on my own eventually 🤷🏻
This is incredible. As a question, would it be possible to create a mech that has enough sensors to follow you in a more complex manor? Like if you go out of range it will move in the direction you are?
could you make a system that uses a custom turret controller and a gyro system like in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-62L5E_9fiV8.html so that the mech will always face toward friendly targets?
i had i idea: if you put an remote on it you can set an gps cord and press the support button and it will swivel to face the cords and walk there, and guess what it actually works! in the frostbite scenario (witch i cant use because i don't have any of the dlc's) there is an remote you can find that has an special hidden programing witch makes it turn yellow and try to find the nearest player, if you can get that remote you can have it follow you around but that only works in creative sadly
Very cool thing. However it is very much over-engineered. Nobody in their right mind will bother to replace turret when you can instead have two mech with different turrets. As matter of fact I can no see any good reason not to put both guns or four on at same time.
What's the fastest mech you can make in this game? this one seems decently speedy to keep up with the running speed of the player, but can you do one that can compete with a regular rover?
Now can you make a version that can deploy from a mothership type rover or like a drop pod that deploys from a bigger ship in the atmosphere or in space?
What a well put together presentation for a neat project! I have only a couple 100 hrs in-game -- just enough to smell the much deeper thought and design process under each step that you give an overview of.
