Yep. Have to find that upper limit before you can set a reasonable limit.

Having one weapon cost half your point allocation is too much though, especially now that thrusters cost points.

I think they should go with a middle-ground, honestly.

@@SephirothRyu Yeah, increasing the point count enough to allow for the thrust to be taken into account but not so much that ships can become spammy.

Though honestly, I would just have reactors cost points because thrusters use power and weapons use power and that can be a good limiting factor for ships.

I revel in this chaos. It’s a grand spectacle. They should have different classes of tournaments. Various degrees of limited tournaments, and an unlimited tournament.

If the drones have bombs on-bord I'd say it's viable due to low risk,high reward scenarios. And it could aslo work as a anti missile barge or sniper

I think thats an ok idea. I would prefer if they made a wider array of building styles more viable so that a good design is forced to have a wider range of weapons to work. Or at least other team members have to fill the variety if you want specialized ships in each role rather than jack of all trades across the board. However your way is easier than getting that fine tune balanced where the meta is wide instead of narrow.

The game design focuses on survival/sandbox/decor, with combat/multiplayer/stability being much later additions. Very poor recipe for esports. I suspect that Starbase would do much better (when it's finally stable and released) due to having much more interesting engineering considerations and being much more stable at high player counts. Still immensely enjoy the series, of course, it's just that if a better option existed everyone (shack included) would jump on it.

Previous tourneys tried this, it adds a HUGE amount of lag.

Well the diffrence really is "is this going to be a combat ship for creative fights (like this one) or survival" because requirements are a LEAGUE diffrent In starcore, you don't need to worry about conveyor, resources, utility, or returning to a safe place after fighting. This is why basically all the ships you see are just decked with guns and reactors, thrusters, gyros and that's it. There is no need for any utility since that's not going to assist you in any way. This is why you can have those pyramid ships with loads of heavy armor, guns everywhere and no side thrusters. In survival, things change, since combat ships will need resources delivered to their weapon systems, probably will need a means of going around the place (so jumpdrives and potentially enough thrust to fly on planets), and a lot of other stuff. For example for my ships it includes facilities to manufacture new resources for the purpose of refilling hydrogen and resupplying the ship's custom weapons with materials. With these requirements in mind you will often see that the bulk of armor and guns you carry will drop out quite significantly to make more room for things that overall increase your proficiency in combat by making you more reliable. Cost is a big one too, because in creative, its paste and go. In surival, a fully loaded combat ship will take a sizable chunk out of your economy and require a lot of time and infrastructure to be assembled (even more so if you are, like me, using custom built weapons that require separate assembly). Its also important to consider that in surivval, there is an after fight. If you aren't outranging your enemy by a factor of 3 km or using absolutely insane shields, chances are you are going to come back to your base slightly more on fire than when you left. Again, chances are that you are gonna have to wrangle with deep battle damage if you want to optimize for DPS by having as much guns as you can, cause that ususaly leads you to have less range. Its kind of why i have opted for relying so much on custom weapons. They require deep knowledge to setup and operate, have their own quirks, and have their unique and glaring weaknesses. However the prospect of being able to engage multiple enemies with powerfull and adaptable strikes while being able to control the engagment from affar vastly outweight the loss of DPS and effort nessesary to set it up.
