I really like the switch from portrait to landscape! I also like how you were able to keep the text in by just moving yourself to the side. The lighting and video quality seemed better in this video as well. Great information about Space Operation duties. Great job!

I am SO GLAD I FOUND YOU :) thank you so so much for these videos, you are amazing and inspiring! Can you please add all your USSF/USAF videos to a playlist that way it's easier to watch all your videos in order of when you publish them. Lots of love and best of wishes on your officer training.

As a programmer I'm impressed by the cyber security work. The world is becoming more digital and network dependent and its good to know they're on the cutting edge of its security

I was an enlisted submarine radioman so I have experience with EW and comms. Got to work with AF comms guys once. I am in college studying electrical engineering and was planning on going back to the Navy. I never considered the USAF or USSF but the astronaut program is something I need to look into more. Very informative video!

Yes! As long as you have the other requirements met (MS in STEM, 2 years experience, and can pass a NASA physical) then you are set!

Can you talk about the salaries for the different jobs in the Space Force for officers please?

No matter what job the salaries are the same. Your pay changes when you promote to the next rank and with the number of years in. militarybenefits.info/2021-military-pay-charts/

Questions: Since the Space Force is under the Department of the Air Force, will there be USAF jobs that are not transferred to the Space Force? Which will always require USAF personnel to be stationed at Space Force bases for support? Or will Space Force eventually become a stand-alone branch? For example, the Marine Corps does not have medics or doctors; the Marines rely on the Navy for all of their medical care. Will a similar relationship take place with the Space Force and USAF? What jobs do you think would remain in the USAF?

In Space Studies through American Military University otherwise known as American Public University. This is where I got my BS in Space Studies also.

Between Space Operations Officer and Intelligence Officer in the Space Force, is either one more likely for you to get up and go to places or do tasks away from a computer? I get that the majority of time will be spent in front of a console by the nature of the job, but is either one less prone to it than the other?
@SpaceNerdConfessions
@SpaceNerdConfessions 3 года назад
As intel I believe you would have more of a varied opportunity. But there are a lot of changes coming with the USSF and how we do things. As you said, they are both very computer dominant career fields.

I am a software engineer with 5 years of experience. I have my bachelors in Computer science and Masters in CyberSecurity. I didn't get my Bachelors in the US only my masters. I am interested in the space force. Do you think I can make the cut. Also I love your highlights :)

Great question! I forwarded your question to a recruiter. Hopefully I can get an answer for you!
@SpaceNerdConfessions
@SpaceNerdConfessions 3 года назад
It depends if the university is accredited and what career field you are trying to go into! This would be a better question for your local recruiter since it’s situation dependent.

How hard is it for an inactive Marine to reenlist as Space Force? I was a 6332 aviation (harrier) tech. But I've trained and practiced as a programmer in the civilian world.
@astone2392
@astone2392 2 года назад
Not hard at all! My husband worked on Harriers and didn't have any problems at all and he went reservers. I'm currently in the process and I went in Friday to sign paperwork, and by Tuesday I'll be up at MEPS.

I believe to apply as a reservist (or civilian) you would need to apply through USAJOBS!

I know I am a little late on responding to this video but is there a GPA requirement for the Space Operations Officer position? I currently have a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology and would love to pursue this field in the Air Force.
@SpaceNerdConfessions
@SpaceNerdConfessions 3 года назад
A recruiter would have more up to date information on this. However, I know it is currently very competitive to become an officer, let alone a Space Officer. Definitely look into it! Especially with an engineering degree you are a step ahead.

Based on OTS regulations the minimum is 2.5

Hey, I actually just emailed the officer recruiter in my area about commissioning in the USSF specifically for Cyberspace Operations. Hope I get a speedy reply, but if not ill keep badgering them until someone responds haha. I had a question about the physical requirements. I always could have stood to lose a couple lbs around the waist but I've never really had to worry about excessive fat. Ive always been bulky for better or worse. My concern stems from the fact that apparently the Air Force wants me at a weight for my height that I havent been since my freshman year of high school. I read that you can be over the maximum weight requirement so long as you dont go above 20% body fat for males younger than 30 and 24% BF for any males older than that. If the body fat % exception is true then im in the green. But otherwise, I fear im going to have to start starving myself as I'd hate for my tape to be the reason i get red lighted. I subscribed to your channel as I've loved every video you released to far. Congrats on your USSF transfer! Thats huge I hope to join you one day soon!
@SpaceNerdConfessions

J D so the only time height and weight requirements need to be met is at MEPS. The Air Force PT test requires a run, sit ups, push-ups, and waist measurement. The waist measurement does calculate a body fat requirement but not in correlation to height. I’ll post a link below with an example for ages under 30. Hope this helps!

@@SpaceNerdConfessions Thanks so much for the reply and the link, that is very helpful. So, to elucidate, I WILL have to be at the weight for my height at the time I am examined at MEPS, but after that so long as I meet the fitness requirements detailed in the PDF, I'm golden? OOF, time to start trimming down huh lol. Another question, (and I hope I'm not being overly indulgent in your kindness) I know you went the enlisted to officer route, but I was curious if you knew of any tips for contacting the officer recruiter. Ive sent an email with no reply, which I expected as im sure the volume they get is ridiculous. Is there any way I should structure my email or things I should mention that might cause a recruiters eyes to light up? Should I just keep pelting them with emails and calls until someone answers? Should I just show up in a suit and ask if there is a recruiter available at the actual office? I know the road to OTS can be a long one, not mentioning if you're not selected first round, but any slight edge has to be beneficial and what better way than to ask someone whose been there done that? Thanks so much!
@SpaceNerdConfessions
@SpaceNerdConfessions 3 года назад
J D first part is definitely accurate! And as far as contacting a recruiter, you need to be persistent!! Emails, phone calls, and showing up. Do it all until you get a response! I was fortunate not having to deal with that struggle but I’ve heard persistence is key!
@JD-qo7hm

@@SpaceNerdConfessions Fortunately the office is only 2 hrs from me, so its not too long of a haul on my days off. One last question, should I specify my desire to serve in the Space Force or should I wait until further in the process to make it known? Anywho, you've been a wealth of information and a lot of help! Can't wait to see how your career progresses!

Does an officer get to choose their shredout, or are they assigned to you?
@SpaceNerdConfessions
@SpaceNerdConfessions 3 года назад
You create a dream sheet of your top choices, you can list anywhere from 1 to 8 I believe. I listed 3, but I was equally interested in them all. And the Air Force will chose from your list based on their needs.

Hey could you please tell me what the requirements are for, for the space operations officer? I’m in college for CS could I still become a space operation officer or do I have to do cyber related work. Could I then change jobs if I go to school and get a space related degree?

It really just depends on what career field you go for I believe. If you go for Space Operations officer you would go USSF. But I need to get more information from a USSF recruiter, once I get updates I will push out a video!! I don’t have a whole lot of information specifically on how to go straight into USSF.
