Brother, that was a showcase of pure Mechanical Ability, with great game sense under pressure. There were a few close calls there, mostly thanks to mines (little buggers), but in spite of that, it was flawless. THIS is what people should be watching in order to get better at the game, rather than guides on how to spam the noobtube launcher. May the Emperor Bless you, Spiked.
Yeah, those mines are genuinely scarier than a Hive Tyrant :P. Definitely a few mistakes here and there, still iffy on reading the red strikes on Lictors with how high up they jump, but Vanguard gives me so much wiggle room for mistakes. Thanks for the kind words! GL's a funny one because it's definitely warping people's perceptions of how the game is meant to be played and how powerful the rest of the armoury should be. IMO an example of where the weapon would actually feel more fair and fun to use if it got a nerf or two.
@@newspiked7385 Amazing gameplay. I agree that the Tactical and GL combo is amazing but only if you're at the right lvl (Emps vengeance) and if you know how to use it well. Because if it was so damn OPed based on the player base stats, why have only 17.7% of the players completed lethal and why have only 50% of the player base killed the hive tyrant on any difficulty? The short answer is the route to relic is long and hard and the very large majority of the player base actually arent very good no matter how powerful the weapons you give them. Afterall most of the player base just wanna larp an all powerful "space marine" while having zero game sense or the reactions of one. IMO keep these weapons the same. Introduce modifiers so that those who need punishment can get their own punishment by modifying what they need. Hell its just as simple as introducing a tyranid modifier such as adaptive hivemind (Hive mind has learnt from the previous fights and now enemies have stronger bioarmour thus weapons deal less damage and they the weak points of the ceramite thus enemies deal more damage) and a chaos modifier such as tzeentch interference (Enemies are blessed by tzeentch come with stronger armour and are more chaotic in nature) so it balances how the "emperor protects" vis a vis how OP the rest of the universe is as well. Finally, there are too many who got carried and have no skill right now. Yes we are brothers and all in this game but heck even the space marines chapters do not carry aspirants and would drop them (let them die if we wanna be lore accurate) or make them serfs at the earliest if they aren't good. So that only the best remain.
Thanks! I think I'd read those stats very differently - 60% of players have beaten the first operation, and like you say 50% of people have beaten the second operation on any difficulty, so you can more or less take 50% to be how many people have actually played operations at least a little (since some people just do campaign and pvp for example). So 17% out of that 50% i.e. roughly a third of operations players have beaten the game on Ruthless or higher - that's a very high proportion. Even without looking at the stats, you can see the problem by dipping into quickplay. So many randoms you pair up with these days are Tacticals with GLs who are missing a lot of knowledge of basic mechanics, killing enemies outright with GL spam rather than leaving them for executes for themselves or their teammates. They're carried by the gun so much that they don't learn the necessary skills to play the game with other setups. I wouldn't really have an issue with this if the same people didn't then start complaining that the other guns are too weak and put pressure on the devs to buff everything else, when actually they work just fine. If people continued to use the GL but admitted that it was OP and shouldn't be used as a yardstick of balance, it'd be a lot easier to ignore. Saying that, I would like to play the GL sometimes as I think the design of the weapon is cool, but everytime I play it I feel my brain switching off because I simply don't need to engage with a whole bunch of the game's mechanics anymore. It would be nice for the GL to be brought back in line so that I can actually have some fun with it - yes, unironically nerfing it to make it more fun to use. Modifiers would be cool, but they don't really address the issue that with the same mission modifiers intact, the player experience and challenge level is vastly different when you use the GL vs any other weapon. IMO a first step would be giving the GL the same treatment the Plasma Rifle got, where Emperor's Vengeance doesn't refill the entire reserve but only a fixed % - that way you'd have to pick your moments of when to use it rather than being able to run the whole mission without using primary fire at all. If they brought in some modest boss resistance to the GL damage, you could even bring back refills from ammo caches, especially since on Lethal ammo cache uses are limited anyway.
@@newspiked7385 agree with this take. Just like the Melta, the GL has the Dangerous potential to very Quickly become crutches for newer players who then feel that they 'cannot do high difficulty without them'. All it does is undermine all their potential to grow as a Space Marine, and no modifiers are going to change that.
Very impressive, I loved how you treated the Zoanthropes, I feel that they end up being quite an annoying thorn, perhaps it is the only thing that I do not like about this incredible game, I feel that their attacks need to be reviewed because some of them go through walls and then I do not know if it is a matter of skill I am also in the last levels of Vanguard trying to build up the courage for the higher difficulties 😅 Again, incredible video
Having all the executions, stims, grenades for yourself means you can do more. Harder to do an op with a few randoms and sometimes coordinated group where you have to share and one dodgy snipe, or throw from tropes, ends you.
Love the Melta but I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to try and deal with Neuro/Zoans with it and only AI teammates. Instigator for life for me.
Definitely. Used to think the Melta was OP but its performance against thropes and ammo efficiency against single targets just about keeps it in line IMO. Love the Instigator, and have even grown to like the Oculus...
