As always, it's politically driving. The number of golden visas approved in Spain was approx 14,000 thousand since inception. Therefore, it's not a fix for the housing market problem in Spain. A half-fast plastic bandaid to basically calm down the frenzy of citizens with employment (low paying salaries) and unemployment (17% - 23% of people) within Spain. Short / long employment contracts and high unemployment rates are ongoing headaches for the Spanish economy. Also, wage gaps, high tech, health systems, business, and transportation are not equally distributed within Spain. Either way, hope Spain can come up with better solutions and bye golden visa, lol 😂

I hope prices come down and Spaniards can afford to live in their cities. I am a little disappointed that this visa is disappearing. We were seriously considering it and soon it will no longer be an option.

My fear now is if they start doing something about the so called "digital nomad visa". I have seen plenty of comments on all social media about Spaniards complaining that the rent is going up everywhere because of foreigners, I don't have any data on that but it might be partially true. I hope nothing changes before I get to Spain on that visa.

In my opinion I don't think they will get rid of the Digital Nomad Visa for the forseeable future, it was brought in under the prior PSOE-led government and I don't think the current government would make such a rapid U-turn on it. I also don't think Spain has reached a critical state similar to that of Portugal has when it comes to cost of living crises, such that the government would look to remove other options for foreigners looking to move. In any case I have my fingers crossed for you when your time comes to apply for your Digital Nomad Visa 🤞🏻🇪🇸 Thanks for watching!!
