After this trip, I'm really excited to get back up north again soon. Maybe Asturias, maybe Cantabria. Or more of Galicia! Where in northern Spain should we make a video about? (BTW -- next week we have another video from Galicia, so stay tuned!)
That's the beauty of Spain. Everybody has its own areas he or she loves as Spain is made up of many diverse countries that could not be more different in terms of landscape and architecture. I have my own as well.
Guys, the quality of videography, music, and editing along with the voice over are your best yet. Epic work. Talk about showcasing the man-made enveloped into the most amazing nature. Great job. On a personal note, I wish everyone in Spain the best. It has been a trying year to say the least. Spanish people deserve the best. They have been through so much. Lots of love to you two and the people of Spain. Greetings from the USA.
Yes! Spain have rivers,beaches,snow mountains,lakes,forests,deserts,castles,palaces,roman ruins,muslim fortresses,primal age caves...2500 years of history
Im spaniard from the basque country, the paradors are ancient castles or medieval palaces that became in hotels since XIX. Century. Many spanish king went to these castles specially in north because of tranquility, even these hotels has stars. In some of them you will feel like being in medieval era as a knight.
In the movie “What Dreams May Come” with Robin Williams, the depiction of heaven was shown as having beautiful vibrantly colored landscapes. The feeling in this movie was that the characters in heaven were living inside of a painting. Likewise, all the various landscapes shown in this video seemed like something out of a dream, and as if they were painted by an artist. The beauty of the area is so stunning that words cannot not truly describe it. It helped that the pace of the video was slow and deliberate so you could have that dream-like experience of it. I would dare say that you would have to feel a spiritual connection to this environment. There is a reverence to the whole place. The wild mushrooms and seafood dish had me so envious, and I also wish that I could try “la quemada” (something that I’ve never had before, except for something only slightly similar, when I had a flaming Sambuca drink with coffee beans added). Thank you so much for sharing such a magical trip and for keeping the flame alive that I will eventually have the opportunity to have my own visual experience of where you’ve been. My bucket list now just simply reads: “Spain”.
I had no idea of the beauty of Galicia. I am pleased you highlight the Paradors when you travel. I have been telling my friends how amazing they are for a long time.
I'm so happy you came to Galicia! I come from crazy, hectic Buenos Aires and the beauty and peace I experience here have conquered me. I wake up to a "pillow of clouds" every morning with a view of the little stone houses and woods down the valley. I'm forever grateful to Galicia and the lovely Galicians
I am from Galicia. Thank you for sharing this magical place. I highly recommended to visit once in your life. Wonderful landscapes, tasting food . It looks like living in a tale. Trust me you won't regret going there!
Wow guys, this was so nice to see a vlog travel style video and the quality of the footage is awesome. Galicia is another world! The north of Spain stole my heart. ❤
You guys live the life. you have created a beautiful life for yourselves. This is wonderful and lovely to experience. You truly are inspiration. Thank you.
You must visit the Old Town and jewish Quarter of Ribadavia and try the wines with D.O. Ribeiro (the oldest D.O. in Galicia). We have some of the the best whites in Spain. You can walk part of the historic wine route (which is also one of the Camino de Santiago routes) which dates back to 12th Century which was established to supply the monasteries in Santiago de Compostela with wine.
I haven't been to Santander since 1972, when I did my study abroad. Can you make a video about it? I lived in the Residencia de la Playa, #60, I don't even know if the building is still there. There was a castle on the hill near my dorm which I think was in the series Gran Hotel. We did a day trip to Las Cuevas de Altamira (I don't think the actual caves are open to the public anymore) and the town of Santillana del Mar. Also, we took a one day trip to Asturias and the Picos de Europa. That was not enough to appreciate the beauty of that region. Now, almost 50 years later, I am enamored of the wonderful queso cabrales, probably the only cheese of that kind that I like. Thank you so much! What a wonderful video of the Ribeira Sacra! It's getting cold here in Michigan! Stay warm and stay safe!
Thank you so much for this... knowing España as I do it is rare for me to be absolutely floored by something in Spain. It’s now top of the list of what I want to see when I make the move in 1 year with my family.
How sad is my lockdown life - I got genuinely excited that James and Yoli were travelling and eating out again! This was a really good one to enjoy vicariously!
Italien food is ubiquitous and full of carbs which is liked by all cultures around the world. Spanish food is too varied so to speak, but I also think having "Tapas" always on the fore front targeting tourists is bad and gives a bad picture, listen for example at this guy what he thinks Spanisch food is ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8HJp9QLObf4.html
@@gundalfx Tapas are not in the fore front because of tourist... this is been like that my whole life (I am 42). I am Galician and since I was a child we always did tapas. You go to a bar and they give you a free tapa. You go to a restaurant and first you asked for some tapas and then the main dish unless your were going to eat "el menú del día". What gives a bad picture is the actual quality of the current places that serve tapas. It is just shameful what some people considere a tapa nowadays. And they try to scam tourist with crappy and expensive food
Wow! Just wow! Thank you, James and Yoly. Spain is one of our happy places and my wife and I have visited three times the past few years. We have never been to Galicia though... now a must after watching this. Gracias!
I run a guesthouse with my wife, just 5 minutes over the Spanish border in Alto Alentejo in Portugal. Watching your videos makes me wonder if we could show you a good time too! Feel free to contact me if you're interested.
Thank you both so much for this video! My partner and I fell in love with Galicia after living and working there for several months, and this brought back lots of great memories. Our original plan was to go back for a few months again this year... well, hopefully it will be next year now. Thanks again for the virtual trip, and really looking forward to part two.
Amazing scenery! These Paradors are really something. We have only stayed in one, in Ronda overlooking the gorge. Great work James and Yoly. We hope to come back to Spain when this whole pandemic is over. Gracias!
Awesome video, keeping us in touch with Spain. When I travelled across the country, many Spaniards told us Galicia was the most beautiful, and having to postpone this year, it’s great to watch in readiness. Big fan of Paradores.
Galicia is up there in terms of scenery which is incredible. But in the North I rank Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque country equally high. In terms of historic cities other regions of Spain have more to offer than Galicia in my view.
@@aftp6646 as a Galician I agree. We don't have big cities. What we do have is Santiago de Compostela, which makes up for all the history lacking in other areas of Galicia. 😊 If you visit the north you're up for stunning views, great food, snowed mountains tops and beautiful beaches. We are quiet and rural outside the cities, so if you're in for a getaway full of relax, the north and northwest is your place to be. Saludos from Baixo Miño.
@@lidialondres I have been to Santiago de Compostela and it is truely beautiful. You live in a beautiful place in the world. The seafood is also a treasure in Galicia.
@@aftp6646That's because Galicia is not "city land". Our history lies throughout our country, in little villages, little towns or even in the middle of the lands or woods, as you can see in this video.
I was in Spain for one week back in the summer of 2018.... I miss it so much. I can't wait to go back and explore more! Cheers from Northern California!
Stupendous & superbe video: nature, monasteries, food, wine, ambience and your comments and genuine exclamations. At a point when one sees the blanket of clouds like a dormant river down there, you just assume life is beyond imagination and pleasures! How beautiful Spain is!
This was excellent. Now, if the world could only rid itself of this pandemic virus then I could start to plan my vacation to go there. This wine region reminds me of what we have here in Niagara Falls Canada
Love it !! I am from Galicia and this year we miss it more than ever as we couldn’t travel. Hopefully will be there in 2021. Keep the videos coming guys
Paco: "Why are you crying?" Lola: "It's nothing...", tears streaming down her cheeks. Paco: "It's something... you're still crying!" Lola: "I am watching Yoly and Rick's video on Galicia... on la Ribeira Sacra." Thank you, again and again, you guys!!! I am so happy that you showcased my beautiful home... Graciñas (in Galicia).
You both a treasures ... Yoly you are beautiful and delightful ... I have discovered later ones with your treasure of a little one ... keep doing this you are both 'worth it' ... God bless and love and blessings from NZ
Guys you have to visit Asturias, there are incredible places, landscapes, for example Taramundi, it has history, nature, landscapes...Covadongas lakes, Covadonga Holy Cave, Somiedo, Lastres, Cudillero, Llanes, Ribadesella...all of them incredible and is not to show off but we have not only amazing people, but amazing food as well!!!
Beautiful, exciting, and wonderful video. The music was especially interesting. I love Galicia. Thank you so much for showing us the land and monastery. Adios, Piligirl
Great tips you inspired me to travel to Galicia and I have been to Ribeira Sacra and also the coast, the only thing I would add is islas de las cíes, they beaches are so beautiful and there are almost no foreign tourists in Galicia at the moment.
If I may offer a suggestion for a subtitle: "James gets Yoly to climb another mountain before breakfast". haha In all seriousness, though, the landscapes in the video are gorgeous and I agree with you about the view over the valley filled with fog and clouds. A beautiful sight to behold for sure! I only wish I were there to see it in person, but hopefully sometime sooner rather than later I'll be able to make that a reality. Galicia is a place I haven't been, but I do look forward to getting there someday. Thanks for sharing these beautiful places with all of us. I love Madrid and always look forward to your videos made there too, but it has been so fun to be able to visit some unknown-to-me places through some of your more recent videos as well.
I'm truly inspired and ridiculously jealous. Cant wait to visit Galicia. I'm interest to know how you travelled there and whether you rented a car in Galicia? The food looks mouth watering. I'm just a little nervous with mushrooms. CANT WAIT TO GET OUT AGAIN
Galicia have a long tradition around mushrooms. The air so moist that there is mushrooms everywere. Once we had a leak in the bathroom (I live in the center Vigo one of the biggest cities in Galicia) and we checked the wall of the room beside the bathroom... There were mushrooms behind a bed, really big and edible mushrooms XDD. The varieties of mushrooms that you can find in the restaurants are well known and controlled. I buy this kind of mushrooms every week in the supermarket.
Just beautiful - so enjoying your Parador videos. Another added to the list. You should do a Devour Parador tour staying in several places - And I'll book a place on the first one!
Beautiful visit! I can't wait to visit one of the places you've been and stay in one of the Paradors! Thanks for all of your amazing videos! Y'all are so funny and make everything look so awesome! I can't wait to take one of your Devour Tours in July... visiting Madrid, Barcelona, and Paris! Take care....Ciao
I have my flights already. I haven’t heard anything yet but as we get closer, we shall see. I hope with the vaccine coming soon, we shall be good for travel to Europe. Praying 🙏🏽
