@@1alamby72 France also didn't allow any goals from open play until Spain. Defensively France was probably best in the tournament. They controlled every game they played in except the one against Spain. They were near perfect defensively.They just suffered for having poor finishing.
Spain did a great job, won every match and had tougher opponents to beat while England scraped by every time against easier competition. If it were about who deserves the title more, there would be absolutely no question that it has to go to Spain.

Well they've been playing like sh*t the whole tournament and barely scraped through all of their games, including their games in the easiest group of the competition and were in the easy part of the bracket. This is the first game where they actually deserved to win. Whichever way you see it, Spain are favorites, they beat the hosts Germany and also came back from a goal down against France, they just have much better players and team than England.

Spain's high pressing in numbers especially off the ball is what will make a difference for them....they also have a better midfield in terms of quality on and off the ball.

It's your tournament to lose. Luck can only carry the English so far. Putting aside our Iberian rivalry (I hail from a Portuguese background), I'll be rooting for England to lose simply because their fans are a loathsome bunch. If Spain wins the EUROs this weekend against England it’s going to be well deserved and I honestly wouldn’t be shocked. They’ve had such a hard route to the final and they’re 1 game away from winning their first trophy in a major tournament since 2012. (BTW they won the Nations League last year, but I don’t count that as an international trophy). These guys managed to top a challenging group by winning every single game without conceding a goal, they dominated Georgia beating them 4-1 after falling behind showing that they mean business and doing what a lot of top teams haven’t done against weak opposition which is win by a convincing margin, and they were actually tested because in the semifinals and quarterfinals respectively they’ve beaten the likes of France and Germany. Even though France has lacked open play goals at this tournament, they hadn’t conceded a single goal from open play until Spain scored 2 goals against them in a couple of minutes after being from behind showing their reactivity and how even when they’re not leading it doesn’t phase them when they always manage to plug away and do whats expected of them. They have been the best team of the tournament and apart from the handball incident against Germany which was offsides by the way, they have won games in a proper fashion and have looked like so dominant, as they didn’t have to rely on referees penalty shootouts individual brilliance or luck because they play excellent football and they actually work together as a team and it’s a collective effort even if they have individuals who just go out there and play their game and when you have everyone in form that benefits the team as a whole. You have fast and direct wingers, technical and tenacious midfielders, this is a recipe for success and hopefully on Sunday, football wins because the team who plays the best football while also having an identity combined with their ability to grind results, they should win the EUROs over a team that plays boring football where they have a manager who plays the same starting lineup, makes substitutions too late, they get lucky and have individual brilliance on their side and are only in the final because they’ve had an easy bracket where they played against teams they should be beating even though they should be knocked out by now and winning the EUROs is the start of something special for Spain and this could be their next great team possibly.

UEFA will demand Spain to lose this game deliberately and Spain will agree. UEFA will compensate Spain in subsequent tournaments. To be fair, Spain have looked strong throughout the Euros, controlling the ball in the 2-1 win against France in the semis. England control possession as well (that's a Southgate tactic though), but keep scoring late (Bellingham in the 95th minute, Saka in the 80th minute, Watkins in the 91st minute), which might be an issue against a strong Spanish defense. I'm rooting for Spain to come up big in the final, but I'll give props to England if it comes home.

England, slow, ponderous, spend long periods of the game passing the ball around between their defenders, not really going anywhere. Spain, Morata, Lamal, Williams and Olmo high press as soon as the goalkeeper releases the ball. That is definitely only going to end one way. It's not about who wins on Sunday, but more whether Spain let England leave the pitch at the end with any dignity left. This really could be an absolute hammering for the English if the play their usual tactics.

If England wins the EUROs I will quit watching men’s football. It’s bad enough that the quality of players (globally) has declined so drastically over the last 20 years, but for things to be so bad that an average England squad can now easily reach semi-finals and finals of tournaments without playing well, but still end up as winners, is confirmation that men’s football will never again be the game I grew up watching.
I mean Spain beat the biggest teams and have consistently been the better and strongest team throughout the whole tournament. England got the easiest route and barely made it...i guess we'll see what happens.

Let’s look on quality. From the beginning to me it was about Germany or Spain - whoever wins wins the euro. The quality of game of those two teams is impeccable- it’s a type of football my partner, who never likes to watch, was not even touching her phone over the entire period. It’s something England doesn’t have. They did play better first half than what’s the usual but that won’t be enough for Spain if the latter will keep playing that level of football
Spain are a much better team than England going into the final, but as we’ve seen from them in recent games, luck has been on their side and when you go up against a team that’s so dominant and actually has an identity and proper game plan, their luck will soon run out. They should’ve been eliminated by Slovakia and Switzerland; yet they managed to survive against them thanks to some individual brilliance which led to them winning on penalties and extra time and with all due respect to the Netherlands, they went up against a team who hasn’t looked great either and have managed to make it this far in the tournament, but how much longer will this be sustainable for them. I mean these are teams they should be beating anyways and Southgate will be one lucky man if they go on to win the final because by now he would’ve resigned and some of the fans still don’t rate him properly even though he’s taken them to back to back finals in consecutive EUROs which is something that was never happening for this team in previous tournaments. If they win the EUROs, is that because 1. They’re so good 2. Gareth Southgate is a top manager who’s unfairly criticized by the media and fans 3. Have the standards in football fallen off and is the game so boring. For most of the tournament apart from a couple of games, they’ve looked so mediocre and everyone sees them as a boring team to watch and they haven’t looked impressive and at times their tactics can be questionable, yet they find themselves at a final of another major tournament thanks to them having an easy route meanwhile Spain have gotten to the final while playing against a lot of good gels and actually beat them. Them getting something out of their game against Spain depends on how Southgate decides to line this team up as while he’s changed the formation, he’s still starting the same players the personnel hasn’t changed and also if his team is trailing by a goal or 2, in order to avoid making the game get out of hand, at least make some early substitutes and don’t wait too long as they could win this game by using luck, if they don’t change something up, they’re ready for a big beatdown and that shouldn’t happen or else the English media is ready to tear into Southgate and their players.
For football sake Spain must win. England has been extraordinarily lucky all the way to the final the only good team they were facing is the Netherlands and even they’re not at their best. It had to be done since the no of teams in Euro had been increased and hence a round of 8 won't be possible after the first round since a round of 12 does not suppose to exist in cup tournaments since a round of 8 can't emerge from that and hence a final of 2 can't emerge from it. So 4 teams had to be added to the 12 to make it 16 so they can get a round of 16 which a round of 8 can emerge from.
