This weekend, the Swanage made history by having the largest gathering of Southern Bulleid Pacific steam locomotives in service together since 1967 - a fantastic achievement for UK railway preservation. They also had the largest gathering of ‘original’ unrebuilt Bulleid Pacifics, affectionately known as 'Spam Cans' since 1967, showcased the first time two Merchant Navies have run on the same railway and the first time two Merchant Navies have double-headed and worked the same train since 1967!
The locomotives in service were:
34028 'Eddystone'
34053 'Sir Kieth Park'
34070 'Manston'
34072 '257 Squadron'
34081 '92 Squadron'
34092 'City of Wells'
35006 'Peninsular & Oriental S. N. Co.'
35018 'British India Line'
