Spam fried rice is an easy and fast go to breakfast on the weekends. I also add in a dollop of oyster sauce to give it a little extra something something. Great job everyone!

Very nice cooking Dude, good camera work from Flo too! This brings back memories! As a VERY hard up student doing my degree, plus working three jobs to pay the bills, basic food was my lifeline. Spam fried rice got me though, along with beef stew, vegetable soups, stews, belly pork and roasted veggies, stir fried chicken, baked beans and jacket potatoes and all the simple and affordable staples......15 years later I’m very lucky to no longer worry about affording food, but still go back to eating the simple staples sometimes, full belly and nostalgia, nom!

Awesome job dude!! I have to make Hawaiian breakfast or Spam fried rice for my hubby at least once a month. Our local Japanese market has many different flavors of Spam. The bacon flavored Spam is one of our favs! Thanks for sharing your recipe.

Dude! Man you have me slobbering all over myself! Yes I remember those old cans with that nasty little key Either the ribbon of metal would break or the coil would get dislodged and oh my what a mess. I'm glad they changed the top. But what I think is missing now is that slime that tasted so good! Good show! Keep sneaking that spam in there!

Great job, Dude! I gotta try it. I don't have a wok, but I do have a cast iron skillet. I think if I have left over ham, I could use this instead. I do hate cooking rice--because it's such a pain to clean the pan. wonder about cooking rice in a separate dish then cook in the Instant Pot. Lastly, have you noticed how happy Flo is here lately? More self confidence and she has that twinkle in her eye. You've got a winner in Flo.

Love this "mix and match" between Flo, Dude and little Ella. Of all the dishes I have watched on this channel so far, this episode is kinda special in a way that 1/ it perfectly fit the motto of "simple, ordinary and joyful." All Cantonese people in the world know what fried rice mean to us. Exactly that! 2/ Dude cooked and he couldn't wait to receive Ella's compliment and reasoning of her compliment. Daddy's pride there. Thirdly, I was distracted by Flo's loving look at the thumb at the end. Full of love, almost like from a maiden. It steals the show really! Have a big bowlful of love.

Nice job, Dude (and you didn't lose any bits of finger). I loved Spam as a young kid, but somewhere along the age and maturity timeline decided it's pretty gross stuff. I do, however, enthusiastically endorse the inclusion of cubed smoked sausage in fried rice. I also frequently use leftover Costco rotisserie chicken (minus the skin) for the protein element in my fried rice. Keep up the good work, and thanks to you both!

I actually learned something today. I’ve never used a wok but I have one coming next week. I can see it will take some practice controlling the heat and keeping the food moving. Everything truly does happen pretty fast when you get down to cooking. You really need an assertive approach and some confidence, especially with delicate foods like eggs. You don’t actually get a sense of that when you watch someone who has been doing it a while. They make it look so effortless and fool proof. I’m excited to learn.

40+ years ago, a buddy and I went on a backpacking trek in Lassen Volcanic National Park (my favorite). We drove up on a Thursday after work and slept in the "walk-in" campground just inside the South Entrance. The next morning, we drove north up the main road to the Lupine Picnic Area -- amazing vistas and with lots of beautiful lupine in bloom around us -- and had breakfast: Over our backpacking stove, fried spam and scrambled eggs eaten with an amazing vista before us. Then off onto a 30 mile loop in the middle of the park until Sunday evening when we drove back home to Silly Cone Valley. Until that weekend, I had never thought of Spam as tasty. It was, though! Good to see you on-screen again, Ella.

Looked good. For people that don't like spam for...reasons, I have a solution. We just had St. Patty's Day. Right now supermarkets are filled with discount vacuum sealed corned beef brisket points and flats. Soak them for 12~24 hours to draw out some salt. Then rub (I use Mrs. Dash Smokey Chipoltle because there is still plenty of salt in the brisket) throw them in an electric pressure cooker for 1h30m and a natural release of about 30min. Let it rest and portion how you want. Or do what I did and throw it in a smoker for two hours using hickory chips. Just get a crisp on it when you go to use it in a dish like fried rice, hash, or sandwiches.

Good quick meal. And different SPAM flavors work out nice (my wife is the same EXCEPT she likes Spam when I use it for tacos. She loves those.). Looks great. I usually fry it kind of crispy. Wife in background and two on the screen, a real family type presentation.

I'm not sure if we have ever seen Dude so tickled pink! LOL!! He finally got his SPAM! and a fresh can, at that. 🤣 I liked eating Spam when I was growing up and absolutely loved Spam musabi when living in Hawaii as an adult. I agree that the rice needs to be dry and that day old rice is much easier to work with...otherwise, trying to mix fresh hot, steamy rice creates what I call "paste". Now, Dude, about your slice-n-dice skills.....*chuckle*

This is one of my fave fried rice version coz it's the easiest to make. I just add garlic and sesame oil with mine for some extra kick. Super delicious! I can eat this everyday! Love you both and your channel 🥰

Great video! We like celery and onions with our fried rice. We normally use smoked ham and eggs as the protein. Like Flo, my wife hates Spam, but I think I'd like to try it next time I make fried rice.

I grew up mostly in the south where Spam was eaten often. I was not a fan. However, when I lived in Hawaii and found it was also very popular there, I found I loved it cooked with soy sauce. I think it would be terrific in fried rice! It's also great cooked with au gratin potatoes and broccoli in a casserole!

Guilty secret, as a child of the late 1960's, Spam is the best...a love my family does not share! I bot some a) as emergency food for the next big snow; b) cause I wanted to make Misubu some time when my family was elsewhere. Sadly, it is still in the pantry, but I think fried rice maybe an good option, too. (And Dude, it's Bacon Spam!) I was looking for reduced sodium but the bacon spam called to me... (:

DudeLum The flavor was actually Hickory Smoked, but it was still delicious. I noticed about 6 or 7 different flavors and I/m sure Bacon was one. I cooked it in my rice cooker/multi cooker instead of a wok. My husband said I could make that again. I thought it would be good for breakfast. Thanks for the inspiration. Dinner was good tonight! You did a great job!

Spam! My favorite......I get the 3-pk Spam from Sam's. When I get my new Blackstone 36" griddle, I see lots of fried Spam in my future. Dude should cook the fried rice & Spam on the Skottle(easy camp food).

Dude is right, Spam is good. My husband convinced me years ago it is a decent potted meat. He eats it all the time. I eat it occasionally. Teriyaki Spam is an interesting alternative. Easily available in Hawaii. Our local Smart and Final Extra is carrying it.

Crispy spam is THE BEST!! Crispy spam in fried rice is even better! I think the spam lovers in your family would enjoy a visit to the spam museum in Minnesota.. I had a newfound sense of appreciation for spam afterward... and the gift shop sells every variety of spam out there... more than just regular and low sodium that we see in stores...

I make some fried rice a couple of times a month using leftover chicken or pork, and even occasionally Spam. My husband and I enjoy it as a change from "American, Southern" cooking! Also, since I am half Japanese, I grew up with rice and Spam. :)

Dude, love your video and Ella is a clone of Flo! Which rice do you use most often, or do you use different types for different dishes? I tend to always go with Basmati, but I'm wondering if another type would be better. Thanks for your wonderful videos-they are always first on my watch list.

Mar D. Forgot to mention what kind of rice. Jasmine is our preferred type. Basmati does hold its shape but doesn't seem to absorb as much of the flavours.

Great job, Dude!! I was a child of the 40's so I do remember the can that required a key to open it. Canned hams were the same. I did NOT like using that key (got more than a few cuts using it as a kid)! I used to serve fried spam to my kids in the 70's but I can't get over how salty it (still) is. I find ham steaks to be salty too.
