I am at my parents property , shooting into a backstop on a flight down hill slope with denser woods behind . There is a incline beyond and not livestock , roads or houses beyond that might be hit by a stray bullet . This Spanish Mauser was converted from the original 7mm caliber to the 7.62 x 51 NATO caliber

I have one, rebuilt around 2019 + the early 7.62 conversion & an official FR-8. The early 7.62 conversion is not an FR-7. Still look’n to close out the collection.

@@milsurprifleguy7091 Congratulations. I had one old Sp Mauser (Mod. 1893) and one Winchester 30-30 (if you prefer Winchester Md. 1894) between others guns.

I have the same rifle. Mine is unmarked and is in 7 mm Mauser. The cross is the mark of the Spanish Falange

That´s an stupid answer. No Falange symbols, no political connotations. That is the cross, you can see it in the Catedral de Oviedo and in any Oviedo flag: es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cruz_de_la_Victoria blog.imazu.es/bandera-asturias-historia/ And those are the Falange symbols; es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falange_Espa%C3%B1ola El yugo y las flechas. ¿Sabes dónde está Oviedo? No, ¿verdad? Viaja más, e inventa menos cuentos.

That is the Falange mark. The cross of the Falange or Spanish Franco government

I just bought a Mexican mauser 7mm. I am wondering if the wood furniture is interchangeable between other similar Mauser models?

Sorry getting back to you so late , I goggled about it . I did not find anyone that had done so . On a forum people thought it could be possible . I do not have a Mexican Mauser myself , I do have a Spanish , Brazilian & a Chilean Mauser in 7mm so maybe I could try in the future changing the stocks on them

Had a Chilean Mauser that I bought off gun broker. It was supposed to be in 7mm but was converted to 7.62 nato. The barrel was import marked 7mm but it wouldn't chamber 7mm. Ended up sending it back. The conversions on the Chilean Mausers was rather sketchy and I wanted a shooter so ended up sending it back.

I knew mine was in the 7.62 when I bought it and the talk about it being sleeved . I figured using a reduced load would be better suited for it , except mine has the issue of chambering a round properly . If I can fix that , I would go back to see how it shots . I do have the Spanish Mauser in the 7.62 conversion & functions with no problems . I may also acquire one in the original 7mm anyway . Thanks for watching & your comment

From what I have seen & read the stocks are made from walnut . I did not find , at the moment what variety of walnut ,or if it was the local walnut in Northern Spain where the Oviedo Arsenal was at

People shooting 308 Winchester through these have been known to end up with a face full of bolt.

Yes , there is a lot of discussion about these rifles being converted from 7mm to the 7.62x51 vs being Cetme . I did check the rifle first overall & test fire a round and check the casing before I shoot any more , plus checking those cases afterwards also , which I do with any of my firearms I acquire

Have any links? These were tested to 98000psi by H.P. White labs before damage occurred.

The Maltese Cross is the Spanish Nationality. The x means the Falange or Spanish Fascist Franco forces. The tiny bomb logo means engineer troops.

It's safe to shoot with downloaded ammo, the CETME spanish ammo wasn't loaded as hot as the standard NATO rounds.
