Wow 🤩 Hadar it’s nice to hear you speaking Spanish good job 👏 😊❤ You can say : Como estoy “Aprendi-ENDO, is Present Continuos “.. (this is like ING, in English.) I’m not a teacher but I hope this helps you to understand what I meant. Aprender = aprendi- Endo (endo) Caminar= Camin- ando. Comer = Comi- endo( endo ) Estudiar= Estudi- ando Estoy aprendiendo Español❤ ❤ I’m glad you’re learning other language. Good for you, We know you are a smart girl and you’ll learn fast , 💪🏽

Consejo II: Do not bother conjugating verbs. For thw time being, and until you become more confident, use the infinitive: Yo "hablar" bien inglés, pero aún no "hablar" muy bien español. A mí, "gustar" mucho Barcelona. We spaniards call it "hablar como los indios", that is, how native americans spoke english in the FarWest movies dubbed into spanish. Sounds weirder than it is, but truly, you will make yoursels understandable until you get to master the crazy latin-language/Spanish conjugations, which are hard even for us.

Living in a Spanish speaking country definitely helps a lot! I was watching a video recently where this person was saying how some people move to another country but they don't grasp the language as much as they would have "expected" to, she pointed out it's because they don't hang around with locals or experience the local culture. They instead rely on services and people who speak their own language (often english)

Touching 😊 Every word about experiencing a new language (I prefer it to "learning") resonates deeply, dear Hadar. From my experience, I've found that my "secret sauce" for language acquisition is fully adopting it as part of my identity. Through it, I turned German from being a "foreign" language into my dominant one. The less "foreign" you feel within, the less "foreign" others perceive you. I don't feel like the "same person" when speaking different languages. It used to be strange, but it's not anymore. Thanks to your pronunciation and prosody coaching, I became even more aware of the soul of language and had a true breakthrough in English. I'm genuinely ecstatic about your Spanish adventure! And, as you always remind us, embrace "Communication over perfection." 😇 ¡Que tengas un día lleno de sonrisas y alegría! 🌞

The way you're approaching the language is really interesting, Hadar, I find it clever. Your pronunciation is impressive, I hope you find a teacher that adapts to your necessity real soon. DeepL is a more accurate translator than Google's, I think it could be helpful. I'm Colombian but I live here in Barcelona as well. I like listening to these two RU-vid channels: AprendemosJuntos2030 & Teresa Baró, comunicación de éxito. They touch topics like communication, psychology, so they're really interesting. Teresa is from Barcelona, she has a perfect diction. It can be hard to understand but I think listening to them could help with getting familiar with the language sounds. I'm rooting for you and wishing you the best in your relocation process, God bless you. 💛

When I planned, 17 years ago, to move to Madrid I started studying Spanish, watching movies in Spanish, listening to Spanish songs and singing on. I remember that when I sit down on the airplane to Spain, a Spanish family with kids at my side was talking and I didn't understand anything! I thought: Where I'm going to do? It's hard to know this language. Anyway, I started to work in jeans store, yes, with my super poor Spanish, and the constant contact with Spanish speakers made me get the language in 2 months approximatively. Before I started to understand them, after I started to speak. Now I'm living in Dubai. English here is terrible. 80% of people are from any part of the world and you can listen to many accents and pronunciations, actually, in general, it's a terrible English. But now, it's weird, it's simpler for me to express and speak in English than to understand people and movie. Primero empecé a entenderles y luego a hablar.

My dearest Hadar. This experience will be great for you. What I love from you is that you teach English from your experience. Learning a language as adult, will give you an amazing tool to transfer that to your adult English learners. So, you will have an amazing opportunity to help adult English learners from where you have learned as adult.

Dear Hadar, you’re such an inspiration! ❤ Words can’t describe how much I enjoy your relocation diaries. I’m on the verge of pretty serious change in my life as well, and I’m scared. Your diaries help me to stay grounded and have a positive outlook on everything that’s going on around me. I’m trying to be braver and trust that things will eventually fall into place, and your stories pretty much confirm the validity of such approach. If it works for you, I’m sure it’s gonna work for me 😂❤ One of the things I’m REALLY excited to witness is how your experience of being a beginner learner all over again will inspire newer strategies for you as a teacher of English. No matter the target language, I think the early struggles with an entirely new system of communication are pretty universal. I’m sure your Spanish journey is going to open so many doors, both creatively and personally. Keep us updated! And don’t forget to have fun along the way 😊❤

A faster way to learn Spanish is to watch your favorite American movies, which have been translated into Spanish. As you know, in English dialogues, when you watch or hear them in Spanish, mental translation is not necessary. Everything is an association, you already know what is going to happen. This worked when I learned Portuguese. I think if there were more Spanish films translated into English, my English fluency would improve faster. I liked your video.

My problem with Spanish is that there are so many different variations of it, not even accents but also. It goes for English too but not to the same level. It you’re talking to someone from Puerto Rico, Dominican Republican, Chile, or wherever it’s almost like a different language.

Author Rojas Contreras describes translation as an Arithmatic of Loss. You say you are doing your best to want to learn but, she says there is gutteral emotion in the space between the perception and production of language. The sights and sounds of the life you left behind must be bridged to learn Spanish and many things left unsaid. Arrieros somos, y en el camino andamos.

Well I hope that experience helps you a lot to understand many of your students that literally are learning a new language without being exposed to it. You know the shyness frustration feel less, etc but all of that will pass you will pass bad experiences (lucky you you are learning a language where people are friendly not like the English language where its culture is not that warmth to be open to others) but with the years all of that will pass and will communicate in the new language.
