Finally! Spanish lessons with a platform I enjoy. Thank you so much. In this lesson, I learned how to ask if I can try it on and explain how it fit. Also learned what the fitting room is called, how to express joy in at the beginning of a response (i.e. "cool"), and finally I learned that with the right platform, Spanish is fun and easy. Again, thank you soooooo much for creating these videos. Your platform makes it all flow easily. Kudos!

@@DavidMuhammad72 The good thing is that Spanish is more flexible than English as far as sentence structure, so there usually is a bit of wiggle room there and different ways that something could be said. ;-)

@@gopalbhatia8835 As far as textbooks go, it's hard to beat Assimil. They have a really solid program. If you go for Assimil be sure to get the one that comes with audio CDs (unfortunately, I don't think there's another type of format for the audio, such as an MP3 download ). Their system is very similar to the way that I like to study, with listening, reading, exercises, and repetition. Here's a link to buy Assimil Spanis with Ease from Amazon. amzn.to/2G7N2iu Or if you prefer more of an online type of program (but with printable, bilingual transcripts - similar to this lesson that I uploaded today), then my suggestion is Rocket Spanish, which you can actually try for free : bit.ly/tryRocketSpanish. I use Rocket Languages for French and enjoy it a lot. Disclosure: The links are my affiliate links. :)

@@gopalbhatia8835 Oh that's great! Having that clear goal in mind of retirement in a Spanish speaking country will help keep your motivation for language learning elevated! AT 4:02, the man asks the woman ""Quiere pagar en efectivo o con tarjeta". Shouldn't that be Quieres?
@EricaRayLanguage
@EricaRayLanguage 3 года назад
No, because during this entire conversation they address each other formally, using the formal "usted" form, not "tu." It's "usted quiere." If he were being informal then yes, he would have said, "quieres." :)

@EricaRayLanguage
@EricaRayLanguage 2 года назад
No, that's not incorrect. Why? :)
@kcorpora1
@kcorpora1 2 года назад
@@EricaRayLanguage 1st you are super fantastic, you know your stuff.. but I look at your content as if I am a beginner through the prism of their eyes to question. now just taking this one part of your story "se lo dejo." you expressed that we in America say "I give it to you." to me you leave the beginner thinking "I have learned dar to give, can I use that in this situation?" because I know most don't use "dejar." I could be wrong lol and you learned something new every day. I am just thinking that you could have mentioned that you can use "dar" as well after mentioning how it is said in America or English. spanish is a pure tricky language and as you say not as rigid as English which makes it tricky what to use what not to use etc.. so a beginner can get tripped up on the littlest detail. It would be like if you had used "se lo doy" you could have said you can use "dejar" as well. correct me if I am wrong, I think most users would say to another person "se lo doy..o..te lo doy" Juana te doy 1000 pesos, los dejaré/pondré sobre la mesa. Juana te dejo 1000 pesos, los dejaré sobre la mesa...i would not say this way myself. Great Stuff Erica!
@EricaRayLanguage
@EricaRayLanguage 2 года назад
Thanks for the explanation behind your question! Very helpful! ☺️ In my region "Se lo dejo" is far more common after price negotiations have occurred (as if you're saying okay I'll "leave" it at 900), so that's the first one that came to mind for me. "Se lo doy" would be more common at the beginning of the conversation like if you're just asking the price initially. But the difference between the two is so slight that either one is perfectly acceptable in either circumstance. And those are just two of probably dozens of ways that you could say the same thing. That's how this language thing works. 😉Do try not to get stuck on small details or you may find your progress will be slow because there won't be brain space to hold on to the bigger, important aspects that will actually allow you to communicate. Even though no language lesson will give all possible options, as that would be quite overwhelming for the student, it's a starting place and then the student will rely on their own consistent listening practice to multiple sources to start becoming familiar with other ways to say the same thing (just like we naturally do in our native languages) ☺️
@kcorpora1
@kcorpora1 2 года назад
@@EricaRayLanguage good explanations but I am not speaking on my progress, just how a beginner would see things because actually alot of your content is not beginner level...not sure that was a small detial but yes every detail cannot be covered...but as you say, "in your region" which is now understood, "in your region." I was listening to one of your stories labeled "beginners" with a lot of subjunctive. that is not "beginners." 😉 Great Stuff!!!
@EricaRayLanguage
@EricaRayLanguage 2 года назад
Exactly, since you were speaking on behalf of beginners, that's why it's especially important for a beginner to not get stuck on small details. At higher levels there's more time, for those who enjoy doing so, to have fun breaking down different ways to say the same thing. 👍😁 Oh, just saw the other part of your comment. One of the videos I published recently goes over why I think beginners should listen to a variety of content. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jFWTKK-klWY.html I didn't stick with "beginner" content as a beginner and, looking back, I'm grateful I didn't have those labels in my mind at the time. I think beginners should hear subjunctive and all other moods and tenses, even if they're not actually studying them. Language is language and we have to hear it to learn it.
