If I were to ever live in Spain again, there are two places that spring to mind. One is San Sebastian and now this recently visited place of Alicante. Alicante had been on my radar for years but for whatever reason, was never the right moment.🤷♂️
The walk up to the top of the Castle of Santa Bárbara was quite challenging and at the same time, enjoyable with every step. There were plenty of nice spots to stop and take a breather.🥵
The castle itself, dates back to 9th century during its Muslim rule and over the course of its history, would be conquered by various groups. Countless of artifacts were mainly found on the slopes from the Bronze Age, Iberian and Roman settlements.🏛
Once at the top, there were spectacular views of the city from all directions, including the harbour and the Cathedral of Saint Nicolas of Bari. 🌄
I started the video from there and made my way down through the castle and back down to the city, finishing at the harbour where evening festivities were just getting underway with a fairground. The child in me, couldn't resist a good look around.😅
Alicante for many reasons will hold such special memories for me and I really appreciated the general vibe of the place, the special friendships that were formed and of course, its local cuisine.😋
As always, I did record my walk in Alicante which you can find in the comments below.
Thank you so much for the support.🙏❤
