Fatality has come along way, his level of play has definitely improved, and to take on a player like Spargo you will have to be cool as cool can get. Great games!!
@@showmeyourmoves8551 At recent big tournaments hes gotten 5th at Infinity Con, 24th at Riptide, 13-16th at Low Tide, and 13-16th at Port Priority. Thats not Lackluster hes placing top 20 consistently. You must just be tired of people hyping up Fatality if you think hes lackluster. You dont need to place top 8 all the time to be considered good. As for whether or not his progress will stagnate, I doubt it, but only time will tell.
@@showmeyourmoves8551 idk how you could say that after watching this set. He out played Spargo (who is top 5 in the world without a doubt) 4 out of 5 of these games.
This set was a freakin rollercoaster and so close at the end! Was rooting for Captain Falcon and Fatality but also gotta give the congrats to Sparg0 for the win
Something I noticed about Sparg0 is that he has the confidence of a new and young player, but lacks the experience and resilience of a veteran. The kid makes top players SWEAT but if they start clawing back the pressure starts to get to him. Once he acquires that mental stamina he's gonna chain 1st places like it's a tuesday morning.
I think a big part of this too is the character he’s fighting against. A good falcon will easily make you second guess everything you do as one mistake against falcon and your stock can be gone. That adds a ton of pressure overall as well.
I dont think the resilience part is true at all sparg0 has had so many close sets that he clutches out just like this one. A lot of top player sets have been going game 5 now since everyone is optimizing. Leo has that experience and resilience and goes game 5 with everyone lol. Same with marss, light, tweek. All sparg0 doesnt have is experience since he is so young
@@BladeVoltz It also might be the players. When you're going up against world famous competitors, their NAME is power. I would be nervous as all hell to face Mkleo even if I was on the same level as him
The thing is with falcon, hes such a mid tier character that in order to beat a good player with a high tier character you HAVE to capitalize in almost and if not every situation they mess up. Adding on to the nerves and the adrenaline, it’s hard to keep your composure and pull off good options from falcon
What a EXTREMELY unfortunate set. So sad to see Fatality to choke every time from Aaron, LeoN, and now Sparg0. Not dissing on Sparg0 because he played great, but that last stock was so hard to watch.
19:17 Bro was literally being so patient as if he was looking for the roll, he got the roll but did nothing. Just jumped out of there 🤔🤨 I feel like it wasn't even a hindsight thing. He just was overthinking, went auto pilot and choked last stock.
Imagine if he had just recovered normally after going off stage too. Fatality almost never RUSHES with up b straight back to stage, he got SCARED. He still had his jump, he didn't stall at all, just went straight back to ledge to get spiked. Big sad.
I think I can explain what happend at 19:17 I don't think the he choked, but rather was thrown off at what happened. So he positioned himself so that he can walk slowly backwards and get the roll. However, the way he positioned himself, I think he was expecting the roll, but for Spargo to end up on his RIGHT side, not the LEFT side. If he ended up on the right side, then he probably would have gone for an up-b to attempt to get the kill or some other option. Since spargo ended up on his left side. It threw off his positioning, and his plan. Plus add the nerves on top of that, then that caused a panic. I think a slight mistake in spacing caused him to make the mistake. You got to remember most top players don't exactly look at their character and have their eyes 100 percent on their character, but rather have their focus on the opponent. Edit: after looking again. I THINK I double can confirm because a second or two before that he did the dash, then walk back, then turn around. However he held the dash a tad bit too long and caused the bad spacing. Another possibility, he did everything right, but was expecting spargo to do normal get up because fatality was right at that exaxt position then did a turn around. But spargo rolled and didn't expect that to happen. Just some thoughts after analyzing.
I think the nerves or his finger slipped. He clearly is going for an Up B right there and the thing with Falcon Dive is that you can turn it either way so it doesn't really matter what side Falcon is facing because he can turn Falcon Dive either way. But just think of the setting: playing the second or third best player in the world (depending on who you ask), playing against a character that hands down beats Falcon, AND coming back from being down 0-2 in last stock last hit situation? I'm nervous just writing that. All the credit to Sparg0 for being an absolute beast though. Once again just Fatality being right at the threshold of making to next level and tripping at the finish line. Oh well. Maybe one day 🤷🏻
he was already in position to cover the roll before he dashed. im pretty sure he was just confident that spargo wouldn't roll because he had it obviously covered. he was probably looking for a bair on a ledge jump, or up b on a neutral get up. probably so focused on reacting to those options that the roll tripped him up
It's so frustrating being a Fatality fan... Over the years of rooting for him, so many times where he either goes too wild and gets himself killed or chokes in moments like we saw here on the last stock. Also, if I had to guess, I'd say he dwelled on this loss heavily since he went on to get 3-0'd by MVD in loser's bracket... Despite having a lot of experience against Scatt's Snake.. He has top tier technical skill, but I feel his mental game has just never gotten to top level. Hopefully someday he gets there. He's shown glimpses of greatness in his smash career, with the VERY impressive placing of 2nd at Civil War, but he's never broken through to the level of truly being a top tier threat. Cheers Fatality's effort in this match, though. Hopefully all his work pays off with a top 8 or better placement someday at an Ultimate major. (PS, I'll never stop believing Fatality would've won Civil War had Luna not been so fucking dumb, lol. Fatality had Dabuz in a death combo that would've killed ANY other character, but Dabuz got out because Luna could still attack when Rosa was in hitstun and, consequently hit Falcon to interrupt the kill combo. Such AWFUL game design)
Crazy how everyone's actually underrating Sparg0 so much, based in the "He's a young player / He's a kid" idea. He IS young but that doesn't mean he hasn't built up tons of experience + he has great coaches or partners (Mexico, MKLeo, Mew2King). As a player, he barely lacks anything and his RESULTS demonstrate it. Don't tunnel vision yourself with young vs veteran player stuff, even veterans get caught up in bad habits, otherwise we would see all the Brawl veterans winning. Also this isn't Sparg0 at his best by any means. He said in Twitter that he felt weirdly nervous before this day started.
@@patoa3481 a lot of ppl do lol majority of comments are always saying sparg0 is carried and only won cuz he's using pyra/mythra, they seem to forget how he beat a lot of top pro players with cloud
Can we talk about the quality here the video quality is great! It's nice to see high level gameplay with commentary and high definition. Awesome to see :D
Wow Fatality really labbed this match up out well. Even games 1, 2 and 5 were within his reach to take the set. Can't wait to see big Griff top 8 soon at a super major like this.
I hate this I hate this I hate this. Good job Sparg0 though… this dude probably going to be the fastest #2 ranked smash player in history. He’s insane.
I love both of these men so much don't know who to root for. On match 3, right out the gate I could tell Fatality was going to win that set, he was on another level out the gate, pushing what seemed possible with falcon. Insane game play.
Whole match felt like fatality not being overwhelmingly comfortable in the matchup moreso than anything else, and muscling so close the finish line via adaptation and grit. Amazing set but heartbreaker ending
I have something to say to both Falcon/Fatality haters and fanatics. To the haters: Stop insulting and spitting on others. It just shows your own insecurities. People love Falcon and love Fatality, just as you love other characters and players, there is nothing wrong with that. You can dislike a character and you can dislike a player, but this doesn't give you the right to hate and be mean. It's that simple. To the fanatics: Stop finding excuses. Fatality played well, Spargo played better. That's it. It's that simple. We can talk about Pithra being a better character, but I'm sure the results could have been the same with Cloud vs Falcon. Falcon is a good character. Not top tier, not perfect, but a good character. Behaviors like yours are the reason haters find pleasure in hating. They love johns. And for everyone: can we please just cheer and honor the players without being dicks in general? As a smash fan in general, congrats to both of you, Spargo and Fatality. This set was amazing. As a Fatality fan in particular, my heart broke with the result, but I cheer for you, Fatality. You had a moment of slip at the end, it's true, but you had lots of good decisions before. Strive to be better, but don't be hard on yourself. I admire your courage and your tenacity with Falcon. I don't know if we will ever see you or Falcon in general at Top 8 like you want, but I can say that I always find your sets amazing, even when you lose, and I'm most happy you exist and be the warrior you are. Keep doing what you love
Yeah at this point the "problem" is no longer Falcon but just Fatality... he was one hit away to beat a top 3 player in the world right now, he can do it, just needs that extra clutch/luck factor.
Incredible set... Fatality definitely showing off his potential, unfortunate ending but I'm happy for Sparg0 really want to see him face Japanese players and Gluttony
Debatable. Spargo has other pocket characters like Cloud and Inkling. Skills of the player matter not the characters. Leo been making Byleth work against Spargos Pyra/Mythra and that match up is alot worst then Falcon vs Pyra/Mythra. Also, Spargo had recently beaten Esam with Cloud 3-1 and Esam believed cloud sucked and was a mid tier character.
Sparg0 is not second. He's incredible, and you could make a case for third, but that's the highest. Leo is first, Tweek is second... after that, I think there's a bit of a drop off.
@@voodooedits785 I will admit that you're right. I love Tweek and I am quite biased. I like Spargo, I just have no respect for Pyra... but I understand that that doesn't make him any less skilled. I guess I just need to realize that times are changing
@@frontseatdevil7831 I can understand your dislike of pyra and mythra they’re so annoying (I think foresight shouldn’t be a thing) and should be nerfed
@@dennisd.4726 ahh crazy so you are saying bylth is an average place high tier? Because in that case an average placed high tier just beat arguably the best character in the game.
