I really wanted Fatality to go further, but great play from both players! Fatality just kinda had to play each stock at like 90% to start, Elegant definitely had that in the bag at the end, you could definitely see Fatality looking a little clueless at the end of the match there
@@PunkySlush I mean luigi has better range and cyclone is so good at stopping falcon on nair and a lot of other moves since he has no real disjoint and cyclone clanks with them , but as a multi-hit it is good at turning the situation around. after saying that I still have to give props to elegant for playing really well and getting damage when its there and playing well.
I think Fatality should be proud of himself. He gave it his best. Took Elegant to game 5. Just got out played this time. The grind is life. Keep training and be ready for the next challenge.
That combo at 14:11 was so good. It's a shame it didn't kill but even then, it's even more impressive then half the combos we do see go into kill videos.
Fucking Luigi... respect to elegant for taking that character competitive but damn man fatality is working hard just to go up against characters that can jank him or take away the potential of falcons combo game. As much as it makes sense for it to be that way, I just want fatality to finally get the W
@@benjaminbourgeois7584 yeah every character has there little things that can jank. It's obvious I'm just more biased towards fatality lol. But no disrespect towards elegant of course.
It’s not the character’s fault, it’s Fatality’s. Give MKLeo Falcon and he could win a major. Fatality still has to get better, but he acknowledged his own shortcomings
@@showmeyourmoves8551 Its less Fatality not catching breaks and more just Falcon problems in general. Its Falcon who can't catch a break cuz a lot of the current popular meta characters are hard on him
I don’t know the charts or data, but for me Luigi has a very small advantage because of how easy falcon can be combo‘d. That and Luigi‘s „get of me“ tools in close quarter combat. But Falcon makes up for that in his ability to rush Luigi down, edgeguard him because Luigi needs 3-4 business days to recover and generally crush him in advantage.
@@TheAlphaWolf77 cloud can basically always get free limit while luigi sends himself back to stage via airmail. If luigis very lucky he sometimes gets to go express mail
@@h2dfives799 Yes. I was even convinced Cloud was mid until I tried him. Me n my guy played randoms and got Seph and Aegis. 2 characters shouldn't take turns killing each other at 60 and breaking full shields lol
@@Galaxia_EX pits guatdian orbitars are wayy better then people realize, they let him land practically for free and can function like a counter against some moves because the opponent receives hitlag for hitting the orbitars and pit has none. Ever since the buffed its endlag the move has been insane. Pit also has very few bad match-ups, mostly all are even or in his favor. He has decent combos and a good projectile, good edguarding ability, mixups, decent kill power, a reflector, disjoints, invincibility on some moves, three mid air jumps, a recovery that works from the bottom of the screen, and one of if not the fastest f smashes in the game. He has to play more honest for his kills than anyone but trust me if someone uses them right his orbitars feel broken. He may be considered perfectly middle of the pack but imo he is better than that.
@@rirayejohnson8079 correct, but to elaborate for others: • a string is a sequence of hits that you connect • a combo is a string that they can’t shield / mash out of once you start it • a true combo is a combo that cannot be escaped from by any means once started
Luigi can't invalidate Falcon too bad if Fatality took him to game 5. Elegant just out played Fatality this time. Personally, I don't blame the characters.
Damn looks hard for elegant when he has to mash down b at the end but at least he's getting a workout. Ngl I was hoping for fatality to get some sort of comeback at the end looking at the time left but good job to elegant and I hope fatality can improve on his mental flaws
If anyone was gonna do it, it makes sense for it to be Luigi. 50% of the time Luigi can’t get started and 50% of the time Luigi is crushing your skull in from punish game.
I always want Fatality to just pop off and do really well, so hopefully he’s able to work through the things that are stopping him reach his full potential. Best of luck to him for the future and great set to watch from both players
Fatality repeatedly went for bnb combos despite almost all of them being negated by cyclone… ik he can be stubborn/impatient but it got hard to watch tbh
@@Lil_mar00 Cylcone is -40 on shield which means that Luigi should die from 60%+ if it gets baited out(stomp knee) or at least take mad percent if it gets baited out. This fact though is exactly why Elegant isn’t extremely trigger happy on it. A good Luigi will only ever mash down-b to combo/string-break to match how much you hold forward and refuse to bait it.
@@Lil_mar00 Yes. He not only can be hit out of it, it can setup a string for a lot of characters when you miss it. Elegant always tries to go off stage with it because he can literally die if he missed and is still on stage.
Super fun to watch a character who can just super armour and priority through any move, combos into kill percent, with instant (nearly) unreactable kill options.
I'm not sure if this is sarcasm or not. Incase it is, the super armour has a very tight timing and only exist for a few frames. The combos are pretty complex and varies greatly across the entire cast and varies even more based off of DI. Elegant does an amazing job with Luigi but with the large amount of prediction that you have to do to maximize the characters potential, we'll always see inconsistent results. That's why Luigi will probably always be midtier despite having such a strong theoretical flow chart.
I don't mind Luigi's combo game, but not being able to touch Shield without risking eating an up-B (doesn't even need to be a parry) is kinda lame and cyclone is definitely degenerate design lol. Also it doesn't have armor, it has invincibility, so he's doesn't even take damage and you can't grab him out of it. Additionally it's frame one invincibility if he's in the air (so basically anytime he's getting comboed), it's a kill move, and it has wind boxes that suck you in! Who thought it was a good idea to give it wind boxes?? 😭. Honestly most of the Luigi's kit feels fine/ even a little below average, but those two moves are hard carrying Luigi.
At 2:45 you can see elegants hand shaking as he takes his drink. It could be nerves from game one or fear of fatality either way this is top level play no doubt
Elegant has a very ironic name. He starts the set by self-inducing a seizure the first two seconds into the vod, dramatically animates his every emotion throughout the match, once it's over we see him screaming 'let's fucking go' at the wall, before stumbling over himself, and then lean-waddling out of the room. The last we see of him is coming back out, sitting down at the microphone of his own accord, awkwardly complaining, then saying he didn't want to be there talking to them, and left the commentators confused and put off. There's zero elegance or charisma there lol. I don't stan fatality or anything, 'inelegant' just genuinely seems so much more fitting a name.
Yeah man, that was fucking weird, in the other hand, Fatality always seems to be like a true gentleman and I love that fact, the way he expresses himself despite the lose, he has a very solid sense of competitive sportsmanship
Bro i agree completely that was just rude of him to the commentators and that arm cramp was so awkward… why didnt he feel it after he finished the map. Looked more like an excuse to act un elegant infront of everyone. Hopefully next time fatality faces him he stomps on down b luigi
Big man was just nervous, if you've never been nervous and overshared or put yourself in awkward position just say that. Both players were visibly stressed throughout the game, Elegant looked like he had too much adrenaline at the end and thought he had to go talk since fatality did. Yeah he wasn't too elegant but fatality wasn't too fatal that set either.
I’m a falcon main and I know how hard it must be to play a Luigi of this caliber that can jam that down b out of true combos because the move is just so stupid broken. Falcon doesn’t have that option to bust out of Luigi’s dumbass 0 to death combo off a grab at 0% i feel bad. Can work your ass off and be amazing and get gimped like this. Elegant did go off though I can’t take that from him but im with my boy Griffin on this. Sorry bro
i play Luigi and i genuinely felt bad for Fatality hes clearly an amazing player but Luigi thrives off scraping and getting that crazy damage also weak knee is a saving grace in this matchup
Ikr. Been really enjoying all the Sean content recently. He's not quite on Fatality's level, but his ability to play very patiently, until he has an opening, has been great to watch.
Yall seem to forget that Elegant is the 1 that makes Luigi look elite lmao ,if elegant wasn't here Luigi wouldn't look like an elite character ,so it's not Luigi, it's Elegant plus Luigi , and im a Luigi main
Having fucking kingdom hearts battle music during tournament sets might be a better addition to the god damn game than Sora was, that first set was like 200% better because of the music hyping it
What hurt his arm wasn't mashing down b out of hitstun, the way that ultimate buffer works you dont really have to in order to get out on the first frame, what hurt his arm is that the amount you mash b as the move is out determines how much height you lose in the air if you do the air version, and keeping your height in order to be closer to the blastzone so it kills earlier, requires a shitton of mashing, like actually requiring actual proper mashing tachnique to get the most amount of inputs possible
As an example, check the playercam at 14:50 in the video. See how as Elegant starts down b offstage his arm tenses up and he does a funny face. It's because he is tensing up his arm and mashing to maintain height as he does down b as an edgeguard
@@yama8483 yea, I believe he has to achieve around 26 button presses in less than a second. I mained luigi in smash 4 too and couldn't mash anywhere near as good as elegant and it still hurt like hell.
You have to mash a ton to get the maximum number of inputs and even when you do you only stop your descent rather than ascending and if you read it its pretty easy to punish. The cyclone only has invincibility frame 1 so it isn't that bad.
Fatality was a class act. Elegant was acting cocky after the match, going to enjoy seeing jume fight a higher tier character that can deal with his jank
Props to Elegant. People clowning him for mashing but it is what it is. Top level Falcon players are scared to say it, but I'll say it. Falcon is ass. If we ever get another smash game, he needs a major rework. He really needs a proper tool set to stay competitive.
he doesn’t need a major rework. he’s just not great in this game. he’s been a great character in melee and smash 4, his kit is not the problem it’s all in the finer details
@chris ok but hear me out It does make him feel like a race car and that's kinda fun In all seriousness I actually think having his movement be both super fast but also ultra committal is appropriate, it keeps falcon from camping in a way that just doesn't feel in line with his design
@@GabeFenesse I play joker, so I don’t really have to deal with it much, but my condolences for people who do not play a top 2 character and have to fight Luigi
