Thanks to pure chance I bought magazine in the mid 90's with a give-away cd which included "Hammering the cramps". I was hooked! I was lucky enough to find Sparklehorse early enough to see Mark many times live in the UK- none better than the time in Leeds' Cock Pit venue when he had a beautiful basist/violinist in the line-up. He was an astonishing artist who understood the emotional power of music. Ghastly and tragic that he felt he had to take his life.

Goddamn it! I found out about this 3 days after a very very close friend shot himself in his car surrounded by the cops. I wanted to listen to this song cause it made me think of him, then I read the comments and see that Mark Linkous did the same thing. SO SO SAD!
So sad that he took his own life, I found out about Sparklehorse about a year ago, and liked their remake of the song, Wish you were here. And now the lead singer is dead, so sad. Love this song by the qway.
this song sounds much better with a pedal steel guitar playing the chord change riffs instead of the piano. thanks trebleboostboy for making me realize he killed himself on a saturday. well, he was true to his word...he told us how he felt on saturday. :*(
