As expected, a Wonderful review. Sir! Glad you and Mollie had the greatest time. I am also going to grab that Sparks tee you are sporting, Larry, at the KC show this weekend. I don't post videos on RU-vid, but will have some words on the show sometime Sunday. The venue I am going to, The Midland Theater, holds 2,800, but around 1,000 tickets have been sold. I am surprised Country Music loving KC was added to this tour...The day tickets went on sale, there were no sales in the balcony, which is closed for my show. Oddly, we have another old, beautiful ornate theater that holds 1400 in KC. Why the show isn't there is a mystery. I saw Rival Sons, The Black Angels, and Starcrawler there a couple of weeks back (Cool show). ...anyway, thanks Larry! Your awesome review has me even more excited than I already am for my first ever Sparks show! Peace to you and Mollie! ✌

I'm so jealous they played Toughest Girl In Town, possibly my favourite track of theirs from the 80's. I'm delighted you both enjoyed it!

Ooh! A two camera video! Love the alternative angle brother! I really love it when both of you do these! And she draws you so well!😉👌❤

TY Larry and Mollie for this ! Looks like it was a blast ! And so glad you two had so much fun ! And now you have me "all wound up" for July 12 ! I agree with you. While I do not mind a little soundbite of filming here and there to take a memory home, why stand there and miss the whole concert. I think the song iPhone comes to mind. And the lady you said was her first Sparks concert and her reaction..Yeah that will be me soaking every minute..and a first time for me after being a fan since 1974. Yeah... you bet I will be treasuring every last moment ! Remember the painting of Sparks I sent a pic of? yes I had a tee made of it.. Will be wearing it... But of course will buy one there too;).. Awesome review !!! I hope Ron and Russell will come on your program to be interviewed one day !!

I'm glad you both enjoyed the show. I like your t shirts, I got the same ones in Liverpool in may. We got a bonus there. They sang a verse of Gerry and the pacemakers 'ferry across the mersey' before all that. 😎

Hey Larry, Thank you so much for the shoutout and the kind words! It was very nice seeing you and Mollie at the concert again this year. I’d say I’m also a bit on the shy side and I didn’t want to intrude on anyone’s evening, so I was originally debating whether or not I should come up and say hello, but I’m glad that I did and I really appreciate you and Mollie taking a few minutes to talk with me. Definitely agree with everything you said in the review. This was the second time I saw Sparks live after their show last year at Queen Elizabeth Theatre, and the performance that Ron, Russell, and their band put on again exceeded my already high expectations. I’m still amazed by how great Russell’s vocals are and how the band can play at such a high level even after all these years. Was also very happy to once again see how passionate the crowd got. You can tell it really means the world to Ron and Russell how loyal their fanbase is. I remember you mentioned during our conversation that it’s great to see how Sparks somehow continues to get even bigger and better as time goes by. And I certainly agree. I’m a relatively new Sparks fan, but after listening to them for several years now, watching the Edgar Wright documentary, understanding the Mael brother’s story, and seeing the many trials and tribulations of their career and how they persevered through them, it’s still very special and emotional for me to now see them achieve such a high level of success. While there were many times in their career that they unjustly didn’t get the recognition they deserved, they never gave up and kept reinventing themselves. Now it feels like they’re more beloved, well-known, and successful than they’ve ever been. And I think songs like “Gee, That Was Fun” and “All That” really capture the emotions of that journey that Ron and Russell have gone through together, as well as voice how appreciative and inspired they are by the many people who supported them over the years. And I've only been following Sparks for about three years now, so I can only imagine how sentimental and moving it must be for those who have been fans for a much greater length of time. I’m also proud to share that my father very much enjoyed the show. He was largely unfamiliar with their work other than a few songs I had played for him in the past. But he was a massive influence on many of my musical tastes, so it was definitely special for me to have him come and experience a Sparks concert. He very much enjoyed “Balls” and was laughing throughout “Escalator” haha! As for me, I would have to agree with Mollie and say that my favorite song to watch them perform is still “Shopping Mall of Love.” Anyways, thanks again for talking with me. I imagine we’ll probably run into each other again the next time Sparks comes back to Toronto. And hopefully someone will share this with Ron and Russell and you can interview them someday! That would be pretty cool! :) Keep up the good work! As always, I look forward to more high quality entertainment! Kind regards, Jason

I'm glad you and Mollie had fun at the show. Didn't Russell stop the show and point to both of you and say, "I want to see the blonde woman and the guy with glasses backstage after the show!" The spotlight is on both you.😊

Great review, Larry. Absolutely spot on. Sounds like they did the exact same setlist as the one I saw in Wolverhampton a couple of weeks ago. If it ain't broke...! I too was stunned by the quality and clarity of Russell's voice. I think he's singing better than he's ever done. As you say, the band rocked and the sound was superb. It was interesting to hear Molly say that she overheard fellow gig-goers comment that it was the best concert they'd ever seen. I said exactly the same after the Wolves gig. And I've been going to gigs for 40+ years! It was joyful, and the fact that I shared the experience with my 21 year old son (and fellow Sparks nut) made it even sweeter. Keep up the good work, mate. 🎶🎸

It was a beautiful night in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri last night. Several miles east of us, Taylor Swift was playing her second sold-out show at Arrowhead Stadium. Three miles away, and just minutes from my home, my favorite club, Knuckleheads (4 stages!) was hosting Billy Bob Thornton and the Boxmasters. Have seen them a few times, and let's just say that Billy Bob is a really good ACTOR! No, I decided to hang out with the cool kids at the grand and majestic Arvest/Midland theater for my first ever Sparks show! What fine conversations I had with Sparks fans while waiting to get in. Many music nerds like me! Upon entering, I Immediately grabbed that tee that Larry is sporting here and settled in, 15 rows back. As mentioned earlier, the show could have had more people. No balcony seats sold, and a smattering of empty seats on the floor. At 8:07 PM, the show started and everyone was on their feet for the entirety of the show...and WHAT a show! The show was definitely a bucket list event for me. So many highlights! "Nothing is the Way That They Say it is" was my favorite of the new songs. "Balls" was fun. Also loved, "When Do I Get to Sing My Way." A band I love, Redd Kross, included a rocking cover of it on their last album, BEYOND THE DOOR in 2019 and I got to see them play it live. Ron's dance during "#1 Song in Heaven", the crowd erupting for "This Town Ain't Big Enough...", the beautiful ending to the set with only Ron and Russell on stage for "Gee, That Was Fun." The final song of the night, "All That" felt so good. The Mael brothers and the awesome band were enjoying the event just as much as we were! A locked-in crowd and SPARKS at their finest...an unforgettable show! 97 minutes total and likely the best show I will see all year. I am envious that you got to see them on a few occasions, Larry. I have been a fan since buying "Angst in My Pants" (another show highlight!) back in the early 80's. I finally got to see Sparks live! It was a grand and beautiful experience. Leaving the theater, you could tell everyone was on a High! I talked to Kimmie Queen of local band The Philistines after the show. We both were comparing show highlights. Anyway, thanks for putting up with my long-winded screed. But, WOW, what a great %@$&ing show! 👍

That was awesome! You guys were very close to the stage! Reminds me of the Beacon Theater in NYC. A smaller venue but not too small. Awesome! The Sparks are growing on me and you're turning us into fans! Hey even Johnny Rotten recently said that he's a Sparks fan and he usually puts down other artists. So to make his list is saying something.. )^_-)/ Happy be-lated Canada Day! Today is 4th Of July here in The States so I was off from work today. Maybe The Sparks are playing the New York/ New Jersey area today or the next few days since Toronto is close to here. Unless they played here before Toronto.. Yeah thanks for turning us on to the Sparks! Awesome band.. )^_-)/

"nothing is as good as they say it is" is my favorite song on the new album and It's my third favorite album I own of them. When I started watching this video I was hoping you were going to name the set list, and you did! Cool! I'm so happy for you two and a little jealous. I really wish I could see them, but I doubt they'd ever come near Moncton New Brunswick!
