i struggled first time i sparred a girl, i was afraid to make contact with my push kicks, to the extent that the first one actually stopped mid sparring to make me kick her hard in the stomach lol i guess that helped in a big way, and i realized what a prick i was actually being by holding back vs her. i didnt mean to imply anything by it, i was new to sparring to begin with so i was having trouble with everyone else too. was my second day of class only and the same day i ripped my calf muscle somehow. still recovering from that pain in the ass, its almost back to normal though.

Definitely very skilled strikers. It’s hard to find fighters that know how to spar fast and light. Most guys tend to forget to spar light when they strike fast.

I've ways thought that women naturally have better technique than men in Muay Thai. Women just have more flexible hips. A woman could walk into a club for the first time and have kicking technique that would take a man years to develop with practise and stretching. I'm envious to say the least

I love these videos, but man would I REALLY LOVE to see a video of Shane sparring at at least 70 percent. Obviously that wouldn’t have been appropriate for this setting, but it’d be both entertaining and educational to see a hard spar with Shane due to his high skill level and knowledge accumulated from training with people all over the globe.

Recent subscriber but am amazed on the number of comments that seem to question Shane's legitimacy. Anyone with a modicum of skill in martial arts can see that he is legit. His flexibility, form, and substance of the information he imparts show years of practice and authentic instruction somewhere in his past. Would he win the UFC or even a Muay Thai championship? Not likely. However, he provides good content, has knowledgeable people that he works with, and keeps things grounded... There a ton of fakers out there - Shane is not one of them. That said, if you are serious about training, find a local legit training center/school/dojo and study under a legit sensei/coach/sifu (whatever you want to call them)

Hello Shane, I have a question for you. In one of your videos, you said that one way for shin conditioning is to kick the bag x200 times. Thing is i can't go past 20-25. I hit it hard as you said, and the bag is quite heavy, and it just hurts too much at that point.. What do u recommend? Kick it with shin guards?

What I like is how they didn't try to knock him out. Not to say all girls do this but I've sparred alot of girls that would always try to straight kick my ass when we were supposed to be doing light/medium sparring.

Except for you wearing non-Muaythai shorts (looks like a walking shorts with pockets), very informative video that shows 1. you do know Muaythai and 2. the Muaythai US Muaythai team members are awesome and deserve support from everyone who love the sport and the American flag!

So according to all these strange comments from men and boys who don't have a lot of experience sparring women... As a woman I can hit you hard because I'm "weaker" and "more fragile" and it probably won't cause any damage... but you men/ boys should hold back technique/ power against me for those same reasons. I think it should be purely based on skill and strength level. I have been checked by coaches a couple times when not following power and intensity guidelines against my sparring partner and vice versa. He could take the power and so could I, but that's not the point of sparring. If your coach says 80% do it. That implies, intensity, power, speed, technique. If coach says 25% and focus on technique for x-y-z moves, do it. There is no gender when you put the gloves on, only weight class and experience level. I will not fight a 35 novice male the way I would fight a 20 year old experienced female. If you teep my breast, oh freaking well, just don't do it on purpose as I wouldn't teep your nuts on purpose. Also, breast/ chest doesn't hurt as much as nipple. You can still push off the center of a female's CHEST as long as it's not the center of the BREAST because you will press the nipple area and that not only hurts but feels like groping and is not even proper form. Think of the breast as very large pectorals. When you push off a male chest it's typically upper center right? Same against a female chest. As a female, it was also difficult to figure out that little detail rolling with other females. But it was learned nevertheless. I hope my comment helps everyone in the fight game... Male or female. Rise underdogs! Great channel Shane! So sad to have missed the seminar :'(

I love how for once, men are respectful towards female talent in the comments. Usually when it comes to female sports videos ESPECIALLY when going up against men, it’s always “He went easy on her” when she wins, and “Go back to the kitchen” when she loses. Keep your kicks to the lower abdomen and when they come in at you to punch, keep your arms up to guard your head and get ready to kick some more even if you need to push them back into kicking range. And don't forget your elbows, they're a lot harder than a punch, although you need to move in closer than punching range. Also in the clinch, try to use some knees to the inner thighs to soften them up and then grab a leg and throw them to the ground. Even if you're fighting a guy, you grapple like a fish swims being a woman. Your strength is in your legs and hips, that's where most of your muscle mass is, and even a guy can't out kick you pound for pound. And don't fight anybody out of your weight class.

I wanted to comment on the issue of leading with a punch or two then followed by a kick. Well, I think that should be the other way around if you're a girl fighting a man. Nevertheless, you girls are tough as nails, good luck to all of you!

There's a video on RU-vid under the call-up name, "woman against man in Muay Thai". It shows some very good use of kicks and what even a woman can do when she's fighting smart. I wasn't so supprised about any of it, and anytime you want my opinion of how to go about fighting a man or a woman, I'm not that hard to find. And I love to watch a woman go up against a man and win.

Just a suggestion, but you could film the seminar live ( as long as everyone is ok with it) and people can pay to watch it, just make it a slightly reduced cost and when they pay you give them a password so they can watch the stream
