FILM DESCRIPTION:
Covert government assassin Al Simmons (Michael Jai White) is killed after being double-crossed by his boss, Jason Wynn (Martin Sheen). Upon arriving in Hell, Simmons is offered an opportunity to return to Earth if he's willing to lead an evil army. He accepts, and is reincarnated as a "Hellspawn" -- a twisted, horribly disfigured version of his former self. However, Spawn serves as a force of good, much to the dismay of the Devil's henchman, a wicked clown (John Leguizamo).

Jack Nicholson playing The Joker made it clear to the Hollywood elite that being in superhero/comic book movies was highly profitable. That and Sheen's son was a Spawn fan.

0:54-1:24 Michael Jai White cried real tears through 10 pounds of makeup, plus heavy contact lenses. Extraordinary performance, vulnerable and raw, breaks my heart how he never got credit for just how good his acting was. He could have just played Spawn as a generic macho badass, but he really didn't. He injected a lot of sensitivity and vulnerability to the character that made him a lot more palpable and relatable. And it goes without saying that it's not easy to emote that well through layers of latex.

This is phenomenal. We have never seen this film before. The cast and the depth of the material are stellar. We are scarcely able to believe that we missed seeing this. Going to have to see this, this looks so good. We love the way the theatrics are played because it makes the difficult scenes easier to watch and do and follow.
