Hey me too man, my friend told me about spawn and that movie was my introduction to him and I loved it

I think it adds to him being chosen by hell. A man who was an evil man gone to hell and given a second chance. All the regret. It’s a true redemption. It says even the ones who do the worst can become good. Not just the little mistakes, but the evil too.

What for? At best there just needs to be graphic novel style Spawn comic with "definitive" (at the point of publication) origin and canon and with clear ending, but average comics series Must continue until Todd just gets tired of them ofc. This isn't Invincible which somewhere in the very beginning Kirkman decided to have definitive arc and epic ending (and even then he couldn't make it in 100 issues as he originally planned). But Spawn is really a gem of OG Image Comics with its sсhizoid all over the place-ness, but more pro status-quo unlike Savage Dragon which also very sсhizo and all over the place but where characters honestly age in real time. I respect Todd for not doing several Spawn #1s till this day at least. "Even" Savage Dragon had jumps, making it EVEN harder to do quick rundown speed reading compared to Spawn. Spawn, Savage Dragon, Invincible. Holy trinity of superhero Image Comics valuable for different reasons.

@@Kirlian222 Story was convoluted from day one (or ten, anyways when Todd started to call up other writers to come and write Spawn issues even before they hit 10th mark) , Also starting numbers from scratch is *bad* idea, and next 00 issue will be 400 so still pretty long time before that. Also Todd, unfortunately (funny how creators owning their characters idea was quickly abused by hасks like Gaiman who then sold character to a corporate entity), doesn't own 100%, at any point Alan Moore or Dave Sim or any other can come and say "hey, this is my character, you can't have it" so Todd has to start with Spawn , Wynn and Wanda, Malbolgia and Clown, and then develop everything else from scratch so that he won't have to do things he does now anyways which is retconning entire mythology. And in any case it was always more of a fever dream, even character of Spawn himself is just major deconstruction of Superman archetype. Like in Action Comics 1 Superman beats all the thugs and rescues Lois Lane who then is scared of this powerful man, same thing in Spawn 1 except then Spawn gets PTSD immediately and ends up being comforted by woman that just seconds ago was as scared of him as she was of thughs with knives and bad intentions that Spawn kicked . And how Spawn is getting constantly revised and retconned is also really in-line with how Action Comics 1 origin is different from Superman 1 origin where creators added Kents and actually named planet Krypton and little bit explained how it works with its people race of supermen being powerful even back on Krypton (yes, similar to Viltrumites from Invincible) and then in More Fun Comics 101 Don Cameron made it that Kryptonians were actually powerless on Krypton and only powerful on Earth. And in any case reboot in Spawn world in particular is pointless. There afterlife not only exists but people regurarly coming out of it and end up even more powerful, it isn't like in "normal" comics where death even just for a while is treated like a finite point.

Seems like it esp after issue 200. Sounds like that would have been a great time to end Al's existence. Which they did with the new angel/spawn but bringing Al back...yeah nah went confusing and started going in circles at that point

It's like all the writers had ADHD. Every new issue is some new character and some new setting. It's all so unfocused. Just "this happens, and then this happens, and then THIS happens...!" ad infinitum. A bit exhausting.

So after Jim's arc the comic goes back to what happened when Al killed himself. That's where God as a dog talks with him and brings him back to earthrealm. My opinion: Nah Al's story should have been over with his suicide. Perfect ending for character, at that point he had done it all.
