"jesus".... what a great story. lol. Rob, I love hearing you lay the stories out, even if I already know the story. My partner of 15 years died suddenly in Jan so for the first time in 15 years I'm alone. Due to quarantine I've lost my job. Money troubles and living alone during covid is brutal. I've had many bad days, but things get better and to be honest.... your videos really do it for me. I can just relax and listen. I don't mean to lay out a sad story, I only mention it because you've really helped me. 6 months of being alone is tough, but I thought you would like to know what you mean to us youtuber watchers. thanks for everything man, thanks so much.
You're never really completely alone. Never really completely un-alone either. Maybe it's too soon, but... The universe is both wondrous and terrible, to extents beyond imagining. But try as it might, nothing can really 'force' you to frown, or to smile. Spit in the eye of fate and laugh. And smile, it's more fun.
We all go through it Clint. As a fellow rob fan I think we al relate in some way shape or form. Please message me if you ever need help or just wanna talk. I know this reply is 6 months after your original comment but I hope things have gotten easier for you and I hope you’ve found some peace. Peace and blessings man.
I think the main reason that ending revealing who Al was on Earth came as a shock because everyone glossed over the fact that when he died, he went straight to hell. Like no one thought to ask what he did to end up in hell.
My perception at least till now was b/c of all the people he killed that weren't actually the bad people he thought they were because of his boss (someone correct me if that never came up), but that last thing definitely makes more sense as to why 🙁
The reason he went to Hell had been explained long, loooong before this arc. Basically, before Spawn reset everything, every human that died had a totally random, 50/50 chance of going either to hell or heaven. No matter how much good they did in their life, or if they were monstruous serial killers, it was just a flip of a coin for every person who died on Earth. And... I probably shouldn't say more, since recently a LOT of stuff has changed about things we thought were resolved long ago, so I don't want to spoil the surprises for potential new Spawn readers.
Damn, they didn't have to turn Al into a repressed physically abusive husband. Like you've been rooting for him this whole time and then it's like "well, I guess he shouldn't be with Wanda. Back to the alley."
I actually enjoyed the plot twist. It shows that the whole story was from the point of an unreliable narrator. We never got to see the other characters point of view of who Al was, because it was always about Spawn, not Al. We finally got a glimpse of who he really was as a real characters. Real characters have real flaws. Sometimes those flaws are worse than you thought. Think of a shitty ex one of your friends might've had, someone who would seem amazing when it's all of you, because she was putting up a character ( like Spawn ) and when it was just them the real person would be revealed. You know?
They didnt turnnhim into anything he was already one. Why do you think HE of all the worst in the world was chosen to be THE HELLSPAWN not jus a hellspawn THE Hellspawn. You dont get a title like that by just being a murderer alone anyone could do that.
Aside from his powers being amazing, it's the way that they deal with real world issues and not sugar coat the dark problems that plague all of us around the world. They also manage to highlight some of the amazing good that still manages to shine through even the darkest times. There are so many reasons to love this series. The amazing artwork the storytelling or the way they show us the good the bad and the ugly. It's all there.
It's the trick of Spawn. Spawn is sick of al the bullshit of powers f conflict happening here, and despite being near all-powerful he will always talk like a very tired guy dealing with the system, when Spawn opens his mouth, it's refreshing.
Best written? No It's really enjoyable and it is much better than it was when began but the writing is not good,.it's actually one of the worst written modern comics. Understand I say that as super Spawn fan but the truth is the truth and Spawn is great in spite of writing not bc
Remember kids, don’t mock God. Also, I don’t mean to force anything on anyone, but we have various types of evidence for biblical events, if anyone is interested
@@Arcticfox030 Dont forget that he also farted right when he got to his floor on the elevator and got out! His fart traveled with the people still in there!
Kali has a badass design and the fact that she said that every planet in every star system in every galaxy inside this universe has its own gods, is actually mind blowing.

But image comics does. God would never work with the devil. And there’s another comic universe that has God be under another god more powerful than Him, mi amigo. I’m just the messenger. Some might say… a **friendly neighborhood** messenger
The last time I heard Rob say,"man! Lemme tell you something, man." was back during the time when he covered the story of World War Hulk. Whenever Rob says something like that,I realise that something really awesome is gonna happen. Btw,to me,Spawn's history is laid out pretty perfectly. From saving the president to hanging between life and death and making a deal with the devil.
But how about chapel coming back from the dead as a horseman of apocalypse being stopped by youngblood, the new men, prophet, etc.. who no longer exist in spawns world, or batman having been the one to scar spawn, he doesn't exist anymore either or violater having been tasked with watching over every spawn ever created but when he first met spawn he didn't know how he was so powerful, or the same reporters who covered al Simmons death not knowing who he was when he revealed himself to the world, or Jake and Katie now still being alive even though they were supposed to be god and satan, or god and satan being back now for unexplained reasons, or jessica priest being an ally of spawn when she was the one that killed him when she was introduced,
Honestly, I never got into comic books because there was never a comic book shop where I lived growing up. That's why I'm so glad for your channel Rob, and for Benny's comicstorian team. Please keep up the awesome work man because guys like me really appreciate it!

@@davidhutchinson8741 agreed he had a break with Spencer writing him but editorial is his main enemy even tho he's their cash cow you would never see batman treated like this
This has nothing to do with the video, BUT, I'm just freggin curious, what does your name translate to? Is it a play on words or just blatant as it sounds?
What about the mid-ish to late 90s HBO Cartoon series that they could not finish? That was really good. Heck you can watch the few Episodes that were made here on RU-vid. Just search "Spawn HBO Series". A very faithful to the early years of Spawn.
Omg.. “spawn” is so broken... I’ve never seen someone so broken in my entire life .. I think I gotta rewatch the entire Armageddon series.. thanks for the videos.. keep them coming..
I sat through the whole video and loved everything about it. The story was amazing and the art is just beautiful. The ending is so damn amazing making us all know how al Simmons was a terrible person and basically explaining why he's spawn in the first place. Love the philosophical tone of spawn comics and how the play out. One thing I really love about these things. Secondly, I love the way you explain, interact with your audience, i.e which is us and just love your energy and vibe. Keep up the great content and make our days so much amazing. I saw the top comment of a guy who was struggling and was glad how your content helped him. I too am broke and have no money to eat a decent meal but just passing my time looking at this video itself has made me feel so much better. May you have a great day and to anyone who is reading this I hope all your problems go away and better days come and they stay that way.

I loved Spawn when I was a kid, one of my favorite comic book characters. Back then we didn't have access (or money) to get the comics and whatnot so I never did hear the expanded story line. Thank you for putting all of this together man
This was INCREDIBLE. Spawn is my favorite comic book character but I lost so much time not being able to follow a lot of the story. Truly appreciate you wrapping this up for us! Thank you!
Reminds me of Arkham Knight’s ending Remember kids, don’t mock God. Also, we have various types of evidence for biblical events, if anyone is interested
I’m calling bs, Ali did his redemption already. All the pain and suffering he went through is more then enough of justified punishment. Then add all the good deeds and the fact he saved/resurrect all of humanity. Please he deserve his reward more than anyone on the planet. Literally mom made him to be the only person able to do so! He more then completed his mission and then some.
Rob, your videos are one of the few things helping me through this quarantine period. I now realize that not all heroes wear capes. Some have RU-vid channels.
Why is Spawn my favorite character? Well, for me, I find that he is unique person. His character is one that can’t be described by words fully, but when you read the comics or watch the animated series, you sense his character through the tv, something I feel I’ve never seen in any other hero or villain. Everything about his story is intriguing. He is, to me, the most relatable comic character I’ve encountered. Everything he feels, I feel, and that may be because of the wonderful character building, or because of story. And the fact that my Grandmothers maiden name is Simmons also adds a cherry on top for me.
Suleiman The Magnificent well it was more than that. I like to dive deep into a character, beyond the the shallow features such as feats and traits. I like to see who this person REALLY is, go beyond words. There are not many characters that have that sense of depth.
@@abnormalguy6269 the snowflakes could sod off if they want something lighthearted they can watch Barney and Friends Winnie the Pooh and leave the serious stuff for us
My initial reaction from beginning to middle was "well damn" this would make for a perfect show. Then listening to the end I was caught in awe. You know spawn is like kratos, a very powerful man who caused his own demise
Wow this was an incredible story. I didn’t see that ending coming at all...the one question I have is his punishment to be Spawn meant to last for eternity? She said he had to be redeemed but this story shows him literally save the world from from heaven and hell plus the trust he placed in letting himself lose before that. What more could he do for redemption? In my opinion, He should’ve sent himself back to those alleys as a way of showing that he’d never forgive himself for what he did rather than it being punished by anyone else for it. Either way it’s a great story and I’m still blown away
@@JokermanUno saving the world when you're being told to is different than saving it because you want to. Spawns whole deal is that he is a pawn for higher powers chosen for his ruthless violence.
The last line of the story, printed on the last page of Spawn sitting on his throne of garbage back in an alley in New York City is "He is Al Simmons, the man who saved our world but could not save himself", and I think that is sort of the point. His punishment is largely self-imposed, though obviously it was enabled and supported by the divine systems in place when he died, but when he saved the world and learned why he was in this situation, he didn't think that he had earned the right to be redeemed. His punishment is ongoing because even though he did what he was supposed to do and saved everyone, he didn't do it for redemption or for atonement. It's saying that sacrifice can only matter if the person knows the stakes, and Al didn't atone for his crime because he never actually admitted to committing it in the first place. Through the series, he believes he's in Hell because of the lives he took as a killer and the people he served, but he never knew and never admitted to killing his child, which means he never truly repented for that crime. The Mother is telling him what he already knows, that he can't go back to his old life because won't let himself, once he knows the truth. It was really an amazing ending and, in my eyes, it was the real ending of the Spawn comic series penned by David Hine and drawn by Phillip Tan. I don't really bother with the Spawn that continued after it because it's just not as interesting.
I appreciate this breakdown so much. I've disconnected with people whom read and lived through this comic book series with me. Just brings back the best of memories... thanks for the breakdown. Spawn4life.
Legend has it that he is still staring at his screen Remember kids, don’t mock God. Also, we have various types of evidence for biblical events, if anyone is interested
Great job Rob!! Spawn's my favorite comic book character and comicbook franchise. You really did a phenomenal job simplifying and breaking down his story. Well done.!! Merry Xmas btw eh, hope you have a memorable and joyous holiday season. ☃️🎄
Im not sure how you feel about Manga, but one of my favorite ones of all time is Berserk by Kentaro Miura. It is currently being published by Dark Horse Comics for consumption in the west
You have it mixed up. Cyan was Terry's kid, and Katie and Jake where actually the offspring of Spawn having slept with Wanda using his cloak to disguise him as Terry. They are offspring of necroplasm and human which is why they became vessels for God and Satan. And its also worth mentioning Spawn had been given a curse/gift from "the Mother" to feel all the pain of humanity and had introduced herself to Spawn not long before Malbolgia was killed.
"You don't care about my opinion on comics." Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yah I do.
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no I don't.
I still have my first printing of spawn from the 90s when image comics first came on the scene. Also have Wildcats with the chromium cover and cyber force
Hello Mr. Rob. I've watched your stuff for years and i was wondering, if you're going to eventually do the entire "Spawn," series? Thank you for all your hard work and dedication.
Wow! That was a heart-breaking ending, I'm blown away; all those years I read the Spawn comic book WAY BACK when, I never realized this is what ended up being Al's fate & the horrible dude he was smh, just wow!
How does it feel to see your childhood hero die? Remember kids, don’t mock God. Also, we have various types of evidence for biblical events, if anyone is interested
This arc should've ended the series since spawn became incredibly powerful from being in the angel form. It's like when gohan turned ssj 2 and became the most powerful character in the manga, until toriyama pulled ssj 3 out of his ass and made the other characters feel irrelevant.
I've been listening to yours stuff Rob for like 3 or 4 years now and the first thing I listened to was Infinity war in first-class you do amazing job my dude I showed you around
Rob...YOU THE MAN! My first comic ever was maximum carnage 1 and I was a youngster and knew the "basics" about comics. Fast forward years later and I no longer read comics but the fanboy in me wishes I still did. Wouldn't know where to start...but anyways you keep me up to date on current story lines and events and for that...I THANK YOU good sir! Sincerely. Love your content it's GREAT. KEEP IT UP! Also as a side note...during the maximum carnage event when Spiderman was beat down and someone sticks his hand out to help him up and I turned the page (as a child) and it was captain america...I'm pretty sure I jumped out of my chair and started whooping! I LOVE COMICS and your channel is GREAT! PROPS SON!
I can't say I liked the ending. It felt like character assassination for the sake of returning to the status quo. I think spawn had enough moral ambiguity with his job as a glorified mass murderer, they really didn't have to turn him into a wife beater and child murderer just to have an excuse to perpetuate the series.
I dont think a CIA hitman counts as being the most evil and notorious of evil in the history of the world. The dude was literally chosen to be the hellspawn; the evil of evil. I dont really understand why people want to retcon Al and make him a good guy. He’s not.
