Pier 17 Yacht Club is a unique speakeasy bar located inside the Green Fairy Garden in Las Vegas.
It features a swanky indoor cabin and a secluded outdoor boatyard. The establishment pays homage to the origins of the Absinthe show, which premiered on the East River by the Brooklyn Bridge under the original Spiegeltent. Pier 17 Yacht Club offers an exclusive range of commodore-approved cocktails and a No Pants burger to enhance the sailing experience. It's notable for being the only place where visitors can experience the No Pants Yacht Tots featuring Trout Roe or the Super Yacht Tots with Oscietra Caviar.
The history of Pier 17 Yacht Club is closely tied to Spiegelworld's production of Absinthe, a popular and inventive show in Las Vegas. In 2006, Absinthe debuted at South Street Seaport’s Pier 17 in New York City with a three-month engagement. This marked the beginning of a journey that would eventually lead to the creation of the Las Vegas establishment. The initial cast of Absinthe included notable performers and featured a rich live music program.
The following year, Absinthe returned to Pier 17 for a second season, introducing a new show, La Vie, in collaboration with Montreal’s The 7 Fingers. This period saw a continued integration of live music into the show's format. In 2008, Absinthe and Gazillionaire’s Late Nite Lounge returned to Pier 17, now expanded with two spiegeltents, a restaurant, headphone disco, and VIP cocktail bars. A new show, Désir, was premiered during this period.
The global financial crisis in 2008 had a significant impact on Absinthe's plans, forcing the cancellation of a planned opening at the new Fontainebleau casino in Las Vegas due to the resort's bankruptcy. However, Absinthe eventually found its home in Las Vegas in 2011, opening in a spiegeltent outside Caesars Palace, where it was hailed as "the most inventive and daring show to open on the Strip in years" by the Las Vegas Sun.
The creation of Pier 17 Yacht Club in Las Vegas is a testament to the enduring popularity and creative evolution of Absinthe and Spiegelworld's productions. It stands as a unique venue that captures the essence of Spiegelworld's artistic and entertainment heritage, which spans from 19th-century Belgium and Melbourne's Luna Park to New York City's East River and the Las Vegas Strip.
