Recorded in 2009 - the exile band: un|broken album
a bruised reed He will not break, and a faintly burning wick He will not quench
Isaiah 42:3
All of us have tasted brokenness at some stage of our lives. To deny this also exists in our walk of faith would be dishonest as we find ourselves sometimes confused, even angry as we try to understand God’s will and purpose. This album emerges from that struggle, so clearly seen in the Psalms, of God’s people longing to serve Him with a fervour born of love, despite doubts and despair at the evil in the world, the church and ourselves that causes us to see ‘through the glass darkly’.
Having been broken before Him though, with the reality of our sins and our failures, we find ourselves un|broken, forgiven, lifted in praise and adoration of our Lord Jesus Christ, the King of glory, Lord of lords and the Author of our faith.
This album is dedicated to all those involved in the struggle of life, love and righteousness with the prayer of the exile band that you will come through the battles to know Him closer than a brother.
Speak
(Samuel 3; Psalm 121:1,2; Luke 11:2)
by Mark Calder
Soloist: Mark Calder
Though Samuel’s task was unenviable, I do envy his direct word from God. But the Bible is the story of a people being transformed from hearers of God’s message into the good news itself, as Christ’s body. Is that enough for me?
Don't turn your face from me,
Don't let my eyes fail.
Without Your light how can I walk?
Breathe into the coldness,
Don't let my love pale.
Speak into the darkness and I will follow.
Speak, for Your servant is listening.
Speak, where You call me I'll go.
Out of the depths have I called to You
Lord, hear my cry!
I look to the hilltops,
From where comes my help?
The Maker of heaven and earth is my God:
"I AM, the Alpha and Omega".
Speak, for Your servant is listening.
Speak, where You call me I'll go.
Thy kingdom come, Lord;
Thy will be done, Lord,
For ever and ever, amen! Yeah!
