Somehow ST shows this snippet which shows the worst (though very passionate) of LMW and a bewildered Murali. Serously, LMW brought up a good point in this debate and it was somehow completely left out in this video. Tsk tsk tsk ..

The headline is out of context. The point is that murali is using rent control as a provocation

The pm also at times rested his hands hard on the rostrum with a bang. The mic could pick up the sound. No need to bang on the rostrum or things of that sort. The leader of the house must also take note. No slamming of file or jumping from her seat in anger.🤓

The new speaker did a good job in reminding against banging on rostrum. This was never done by former speaker when on few occasions this was done and esp when file was flung and manner of standing up obviously displaying rage and disrespect to member speaking.

i am not very convinced with Mr Murali in Parliament. He is seen nervous in speaking considering he is a lawyer and now misrepresents and misquotes other members speech and falls back when called out and Please this isn't a court to say your honour.

How on earth Murali was made a senior counsel? Has the standards to be emitted as SG legal elites loweered? 😂

honestly i have to say, governance within Singapore have dropped so much since the LKY and GCT days. Standards and etiquette has declined so much, it seems to be more politicking and trying to sway opinion instead of real work done. Its really embarassing. To claim as first world government and country but have a core like that, it really shows you how Singapore society has developed over the years, its not just something you see within government but on the bigger scope, societal norms, attitude and etiquette has dropped so much in Singapore, its shown in service standards and work standards as well. While other neighbouring countries are now starting to wake up to their own internal issues within government and society, i think if this downward trend continues in Singapore, within 100 years, Singapore may not be the super powerhouse that it used to be anymore. Anyhow now Singapore is already starting to fade as a tourism destination somewhat since covid, the facts and realities are there for everyone to see. Lets see how things develop moving forward, but it is definitely not a good sign.

Why landlords are asking for higher rents, because there are landlords that took bank loans where during this period bank interests had spike up. This situation resulted in a big group of landlord rasing rental prices which kind of set the rental market's bench mark. If u want to control it, simple restrict the mortgage loan interests, u will have more affordable rental prices. However when u restrict the interests rate spike, it is across the board for all loans then we will face with the same problems like Japan where people took loan and place it else where that has higher interest rates. In the instance where cheap currency loaned we place in overseas' investments then good luck to singapore, it is going to be massive of currencies flowing out of singapore and then MAS will need to dig into our foreign currency reserve to buy back SGD to prevent SGD for dropping in it's index value.

Sir, when I was 58 yrs old, I bought a studio flat that cost me almost 80k and the lease is only for 30 years . When I die , my family have e to surrender the flat(i wonder where they are going to stay ) , I cannot sell the flat in the open market and I cannot rent out the flat because the agreement said so. Is this fair to me?. I felt that I was being rob in the day light. I hope the government would evaluate this matter.
