There's something to be said about physical buttons and knobs. There are times all the touch screen stuff are maddening to use.

It's all the graphic eq stuff I cant stand, I focus too much on the visuals and then don't understand why it doesn't sound good. Knobs make me listen to the actual sound which always comes out better for me

To me this is a perfect solution, I either use a modeler or real amp with a reactive load for the amp sound and a big pedalboard. IRs obviously sound great, just like the ox sounds great, but IRs are such a huge waste of time, I have hundreds of them and it's annoying to pick one every time I change something in my signal path or want a different sound.

The ox stomp does not include the cabs/mics that come with the UAFX Dream and Ruby. I’m hoping UA can update the Ox for the price. The Ox also does not let you pass a stereo signal unless you hard pan the two microphone models. I feel like that’s just lazy porting of their old software onto this new device without updating when it could be stereo.

Would this work using it in tandem with the built-in CabClone in my Mesa Triple Crown? The CabClone sounds abysmal on its own, but when pairing it with a better IR in my DAW, it can sound amazing.

Could you run this in the effects loop of an amp….send of loop to effects, from effects to the ox stomp….thought ox back to amp, XLR on ox to the sound man ?

One of the "problems" (subjective) is it's missing power amp emulation. Might need an amp that has a line level out that is tapping the power amp or a power amp emulation in front of it.

Of course it’s missing power amp emulation. This is literally and only a collection of speaker cabinets, mics and some basic effects.

@@deanopie4390 exactly, for instance the (whether you like it or not is subjective) the Two Notes CabM has power amp emulation. But as well, for this pedal it would probably be best to feed it with a load box line out so you get that power amp reaction. Of course that might only give a hair of difference tbh over just throwing a preamp in front of it. Either works. It would have been nice for UA to at least give an option for it, unless it's already there and they just didn't specify.

I could see them coming out with a power amp emulator at some point. With all the pre amp pedals available and the ox stomp being speaker cabs etc. there's a place for power amp emulation.

Does the OX Stomp contain any power amp simulation? Or are you just going from the preamp (synergy module) straight to speaker simulations here with no power amp simulated in the chain?

The OX Stomp is a lot more dynamic and alive sounding than IRs. An IR is essentially a snapshot of the sound whereas the OX Stomp, just like the OX Amp Top Box, is a detailed physical model of cabinets, microphones and the room that covers everything from a whisper into speaker distortion and artifacts like cone cry.

Feels kinda outdated tbh, a device that's intended to be used into monitors given its a cabsim but most people use a PC with said monitors which would mean theyd have access to a crazy amount of cabsims on their PC

You're assuming that no one would ever want to use cab sims of this quality outside the house. I haven't gigged with an actual amp in years at this point, but the Achille's heel of a lot of "everything in one box" amp modelers/ multi-fx units, are the cab sims. While I would have preferred MIDI control, this thing solves that problem nicely.

Great pedal in concept, but a poor reality in final execution. No desktop app, no sale. Sorry UA. I mean this should've have easily been one of the top 3 best homerecording products released this year, but the fact that you have to run this thing through your phone just to get all its full functionality was a boneheaded decision on UA's part to say the least.

It would be interesting to include room sound. Maybe the monitors sound more realistic.

And the fact he didn´t mute his mic so that you can hear a bit of the string noise coming through lets you believe there would be audible attack in this fizzy mush of guitar tone.
