@@TheB1nary Take the reformation or perhaps more accurately the deformation which happened over time from a predominate Christian culture which under went a transformation due to the "enlightenment" with the rejection of the universal church with the focus on "sola scriptura " and the move away the Real Presence to it being only a symbol and the proliferation of many different schools of materialist philosophies which rejected metaphysics etc.Apologies for only presenting the tip of the iceberg as an answer should be in book form something which can not be done justice to on this forum.
