Every year, we have an entire day where our Chinese daughter speaks only Mandarin to us. Not only is it so impressive, It really helps us to remember all she has overcome to learn English and how much she has gone through to be part of our family - which absolutely blows us away everytime! We are so proud of her and all she has accomplished, and all the ways she has progressed and grown! She is so brilliant and we love her so much!

These people have a great heart. They respect the origin of their adopted children. Pamela is of Chinese origin. And they are willing to let her celebrate the Chinese new year and speak Mandarin. They are truly exceptional, so loving and tolerant. Their children-all of them whether adopted or not- must be very happy. They have had a good up bringing, and before all lot of love.

Good morning Millers. In my kindergarten class we celebrated Chinese New Year. We read stories, they had little dragons to decorate.....they really enjoyed hearing about how this is celebrated. We have a little guy whose grandparents only speak mandarin with him. Its important that kids can celebrate who they are and where they came from. Love your family....God bless

So proud of Penny!!!! As a trilingual (Cantonese, Mandarin, English) myself, I understand the struggle and the amount of hard work one has to put in to learn a new language. 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 Stephen laughs when he doesn’t understand reminds me so much of myself when I was learning English. Seeing Ethan hugging Reese and not wanting to let go really got to me; I have a similar relationship with my little brother (15 years apart) and I have to leave for Canada (from France) soon, and I am dreading this moment.

It’s only dawning on me how hard it must have been for Penny and the rest of the family when she came home and spoke no english. She’s really brave & amazing and so are the rest of the family too 🥰 You’re a great bunch altogether 😊🇮🇪☘️

I loved this video! Mandarin is so different than the dialect I grew up speaking…although, I can hear a few words that I recognize…like the word “water”…Still very different. The aquarium was beautiful! I especially loved the interactive tank where you can touch a few of the sea creatures. Thank you for sharing this video with us. 👍🇨🇦😊

Such a great video! Love that you embrace and encourage the differences in language and culture with your kids!! So many times these differences are left behind. I cried when Reese said good bye, laughed watching Penny's model strut and was so proud of Lincoln trying to speak Mandarine!!

So nice to watch. Stephen is very gifted for speaking foreign languages. Amanda seems to have made progress as well. It is indeed remarkable how well Penny keeps up speaking both languages So she can continue to speak with her Chinese foster family and friends. So great that you are encouraging your children when it comes to languages. Being a household two plus languages can be tough. Our 3 year old is doing great with Spanish and English but if we didn’t keep encouraging him he’d lean more towards the language of the country we’re in. You’re doing a great job!

Living in such a huge and loving family with so many siblings, we can't imagine how tough it would be for Reese to move away. I moved out for 2.5 years for college, and atleast for a week after I visited home, I would miss my parents and my grandfather so much. So we definitely do not think that you are a sad person Reese. When you have to leave behind your family, that is obviously sad but cheer up and look forward to your next visit while you make amazing memories and get experiences there. ❤️

If you guys really want to learn the language Penny speak Chinese to you all the time. Sink or swim like it was for her learning English when you took her into your family. I know I got more from my sign language classes from the teachers that taught without using their voices than I did from those that taught while talking at the same time.
