This was a creepy episode, besides the infected sauropod, this was a long armed, can slice through anything, and then was only attacking at night using darkness as a cloak. This was 80s slasher 101 this dinosaur antagonist used. It was interesting not seeing what it physically looked like until the end. In one big flame 🔥

I think it was genius how the first person perspective was given a payoff at the end. It isn't just for the appeal of having a vague, mysterious monster hunting down the main characters, once they know its weakness we see first-hand the mortal terror of being hunted itself. The fear burnt at both ends.

He swings a stick from her back, and draws the scent of blood from everyone but her He does curious things that she would normally fear, if not for the bond of trust between them Two natural enemies, two predators and two prey (either would hunt, kill, and eat the other, on any other day, if not for their history), who become more together than either one of them could be, apart.

I kinda like the portrayal of the night feeder. It’s not an animal hunting to survive, it’s a demon that instantly carves any beast into mincemeat, an invisible monster that rules the night through terror and shreds whatever it comes across. Only the light of mankind’s fire can pierce the night and smite the demon.

I guess what made the Nightfeeder scary and terrifying for me, is that we got to see what it can do in first person. The sounds it makes, how fast it is, most creatures tremble in fear at the sight of it. Even after we see it somewhat, it's top 2 in my Primal list of disturbing characters, Infected Sauropod takes 1.

Way scarier than the infected Sauropod for a few reasons. 1. It clearly hunts for sport along with mutilating the bodies of its’ prey 2. It has the strength to cut thru anything living and chop down entire trees in one swipe 3. The black tar like substance on its’ body makes it near invisible at night even when it is set on fire you can barely see it

Most people say the night feeder is most likely about Fang’s size but I personally think it’s much bigger. Something that can split a 9m triceratops in half has to have a lot of bulk and power behind that claw, perhaps it’s very slender with oversized claws to have the power needed but also the speed.

One theory I saw on tvtropes is that the dinosaur was an alternate version of that little insect-eating one we saw earlier in the episode. It wasn't killing for fun: it was killing to attract flies. Which is why you didn't see any around the corpses.

I saw some people talking about that the compsognathus we saw at the beginning of the episode might be the Night Feeder and that it transforms into some kind of “Were Dinosaur” at night. Now, at first I dismissed this idea like “Nah, that’s crazy.” But then I got to thinking and remembered that we’ve literally seen witches using magic, giant red vampire bats that come out during a literal blood moon, and infected zombie dinosaurs. So honestly, nothing really sounds crazy at this point.

If you look at its appearance, and to a degree, even its behavior, it's almost definately a Megaraptoran of some kind, probably based off of Aerosteon or Australovenator or something like that. They were built for speed, on-average the size of the night feeder (about 25-30 feet long), had a pretty "generic" skull shape and build for a theropod, just a bit slimmer and lighter built than most their size, and had long arms and huge claws, just like the night feeder.

You can see just how *smart* Fang really is. Most any animal will run from fire, or at least avoid it at all costs. Fang walked right up to the burning spear because *she understood.* Rather like the Thing, the only way to beat the Night Feeder was pin it down, and kill the horror with fire. And die it did.

What I love is how the entire episode is depicted as a horror movie with the night feeder as this horrible unseen monster that kills anything then finally at the end the script is flipped, now Spear and Fang are the hunters, and the night feeder is the one who is the victim.

So I have an interesting theory about the night feeder. I think it saw through heat. It would explain my fire disoriented it, and also how I was able to see clearly in complete darkness in order to ambush its prey

Personally I think it’s fear of fire might be because it secretes oil from its skin. When Fang bites it she comes up with a mouth full of a some black goo. Plus, the Night Feeder goes up in flames only seconds after being hit.

So far, the Night Feeder is my favorite antagonist in this series. With that said, I do wish they had gone with the original design of having him look like a wendigo instead of a hybrid dinosaur. Also, that screeching was just awful. Other than that, I loved his speed, the fact he covered himself in a black tar like substance to seem invisible at night, and how he took out other tough creatures like nothing.

Theory about the Night Feeder : heard some say it's body produced that tar-like substance that made him impossible to catch as it was slippery, but i do not think that was the case. I think the Night Feeder choose WILLINGLY to cover itself in tar to... -blend with the night and impossible to spot until up close -mask it's scent -be impossible to hold still as seen with Fang prior Just being nocturnal doesn't justify being THAT afraid of light sources, as i think a nocturnal animal would just be dazed at best. Hence, my theory is that the Night Feeder fled as soon as he saw fire due to it knowing that if he got EVEN THE TINIEST spark on its body, he would catch fire

They only showed what they needed too. Sometimes movies and shows show way too much of the creature at the start which ruins a bit of the mystery and suspense of its existence. Getting small glimpses, POV, and demonstrations of its power is an art form within visual media, one played out expertly with the Night Feeder

Honestly, I like that the Night Feeder didn't really have any especially horrific appearance and was ultimately just another dino to fight. It really emphasized the its only real advantage was its stealth. Once a light was put on it, once it was dragged out of the shadows it thrived in, it was just another fight for Spear and Fang to win...

I really like how this episode's antagonist is a foil for the brontosaurus from another episode. The brontosaurus was kind but was just forced to kill because of the virus and the writers were clever to show what the faces of fang and spear being sympathetic and sorrowful after they beat it. Here though, they are just straight up spiteful towards this antagonist that just killed for fun.

Pretty sure this Dino was based on the Therizinosaurus? Which would be wild because it is a herbivore. Although, it is extremely territorial. So it could be attacking at night defending itself and it’s territory. Or the other, it is a herbivore that kills for twisted sport.

Flint actually shatters when exposed to fire. Early humans would put flints close to fires to heat them slowly so they would form tools easier when knapping them. As they'd behave more like glass with predictable flaking after heating but putting it directly in fire just causes the flint to explode into shards.

He is based on therizinosaurus, megaraptor and last but not least baryonyx People really like to make baryonyx cool, like ice age did but was different from night feeder, rudy was larger than most sauropods including argentinosaurus and he was albino, night feeder was black by its tar like substance

I love how we're never given concrete proof of what that thing was. Same thing goes for the Witch Coven, they're still out there as of the end of the show.
