Nice unboxing vid. My Eomer Spear is in transit and I can't wait to add it to my collection. I'm a fan of all things Rohirrim above all else, and Eomer is my favorite ME character. Like you, I plan to mount if horizontally using a couple very low-profile sword hooks.
That spear is really nice. Great unboxing and great idea going across up top like you did. You could still mount that piece on the wall as a decor above the spear or to the side of it. Cheers buddy
Hi! Great collection, congratulations! I’m sorry to bother, but when you touch the blade, does it feel a bit like steel ? I really have no idea what’s reinforced cold cast steel polyresin
To be honest not really, for me the biggest tell is steel should feel cold (at least in my home cause I keep it cold) and this definitely doesn't. That being said it looks the part and I haven't touched it since I put it on my wall so honestly it doesn't bother me that it's not steel. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment 👍
@@thecyberhobbitThanks for replying! I agree, the spear is supposed to be ornamental anyway, It’s not like we are playing or fighting with it. Do you know If this is the same material as Fili and Kili’s Swords ? And one last question, what’s the total weight ? No more questions, I promise 😂
@@Kanondjin Fili and Kili's sword are part metal I believe, they are much heavier. Not sure the weight sorry, I'm currently packing my collection because I'm moving and that 1 is already in a box.
haha I know I know... I'm starting to just place new items randomly around my home away from most of my collection. I'm hoping to move in the next year or so and will have a much larger collection room dedicated for this. Thanks for commenting Ruben!
Mine will be showing up today, can't wait! These were cast in polyresin due to the piece being too long and would have warped if cast in metal. UC tries to make everything out of metal if it can, like the new Rohan ax will be metal as it is small enough.
Hey dude! I don't know much about UC process but surely just the head of the spear needed to be metal? much shorter than the swords they make. Most of the pole/body is wood which is nice though. I forgot about that ax may need to pre-order that soon. Thanks as always for commenting man I really appreciate it!
@@thecyberhobbit With blades up to 1/4 thick they are punched out of sheet metal and ground down on machines. For something this thick and detailed (over 1 inch) and as long as the spear head it would be too prone to warping, just like the Kili sword from the Hobbit. If this sells well, they may make Theoden's spear to.
@@n2darkness interesting I guess that makes sense to me, I would have preferred a thinner spear tip I guess then. Though honestly it's going to just sit on my wall and it looks the part so it's hard to complain. Theoden's spear sounds nice, still need to get his helmet. Thanks again man!
Looks fantastic! I agree with you on the materials it would have been better with steel and leather. Still a fine addition to your collection all the same. I really enjoy the Rohan arms and armor.
Hey Gonzo! yeah not totally sure why they did it this way but still great nonetheless. Are you picking this up? They also have an Ax on the way as well. Thanks for commenting!
@@thecyberhobbit I'm thinking about it. I might grab the Eodred sword first (per your recommendation.) I would love to get a Roherim helmet as well. I would buy the whole United Cutlery collection if only Smaug didn't steal all my gold.
Thanks man, I think it makes it a bit more interesting that a static shot :D Favorite piece is definitely the 1/4 scale Sauron from Prime 1 Studios. Thanks for commenting man!
I was thinking of getting it, my only issue is I have no place for it to go... it'd have to stay in the box. I'm hoping to move in the next year or so, when I do I may do it then. Thanks for commenting Kobe!
yeah I feel like going horizontal shows it off a bit better... plus spears are normally used horizontally so only makes sense. Thanks for commenting man!
it was resin because of warping issues on a cast blade of that length. the polearm had very high error rate and quality control issues. we felt like we could make it in resin, or not at all. We prefer steel when we can use it, but if we can't get it accurate and cost effective in steel we have to use resin or alternate materials. (I work for UC)
@@mdrewhall oh that's very interesting. Definitely better to have it than not at all! It's still a very beautiful piece and glad to have it my collection. Thanks for commenting Drew, big fan of the work you guys do :D
