I don't understand why you aren't having any issues with the PMAG Gen 3, I have bought 3 different Gen 3 PMAG (Non-windowed) and all of the fail to feed the next cartridge... However, my Lar-15 and Cross-Mag have been running flawlessly with the Spec 180 lower...
Thanks for the shoutout! 🙏 You guys do awesome work. We still say its a crime that you haven't been given a Templar to review! We haven't touched anything on the MCR platform in the past because you guys already featured it so thoroughly there was nothing more to say. #giveblackbearatemplar
Hey how did you manage to mount your optic on the reciver toprail? My buddy got one and has an eotech holo sight with a qd rail lock and it can not fit onto his reciever rail but it attaches to his handgaurd rail just fine. So we tried out using my strike eagle scope and rings on the rail still with no luck as well as my 6x magnifier with a qd mount but we cant get anything to fit on the top rail.
That was quick! As a real-world example, yesterday I found that I could not get a fully loaded C Products magazine to lock into my Tavor X95 with a closed bolt, no matter how hard I slammed the mag up into the well. This magazine does, however, lock easily into my AR when fully loaded and the bolt forward.
If your bolt is locked back and you insert a loaded mag, you have to pull and release the charging handle to let the bolt go forward and into battery. You will be able to see that in the mag test in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jWuJUDjXs-k.html
Thank you for this , i found this to be very informative with excellent subject matter . Your videos a both educational and entertaining . Great job Black Bear , nice to have an informed opinion so close to home 🙂
Im not sure what the test is here. Usually the stoppages on a closed bolt bolt change, you have a round in chamber, then do a tactical mag change. The increased presure on the bottom of the bolt can cause a stopage as it ridding the bolt for the recoil phase of firing. Manually cocking the first round in from a closed bolt mag change rarely cause anything other then a failure to feed the first round... due to insufficient main spring presure to strip a round from the tight mag. Its not an issue on most guns, the only gun that i had this issue on was a mini14 (on all 4 i have owned over the years0 Also testing 10rd lar mags with only 5 rounds negates this whole issue as they are not "loaded tight"
Ballistically speaking did a good video on the Gen 2 crossmags in the 180 platform. We did a gen 1 test on open bolt in the 1000 review of the spec 180 if that helps.
Haven't had too many issues with mine, a few FTEs, nothing too major. A friend's brand new MCR had quite the malfunction on his first range day with less than 50 rounds through it. The bolts securing the handguard to the upper were clearly not even remotely torqued from the factory as it had separated by a good 1-2". We assume because of the recoil spring not sitting properly on the last shot that really separated it, something real weird happened to the BCG because the cam pin became stuck and stuck real good. Could be unrelated, I'm fairly new to the world of firearms so it might just have been coincidence because my knowledge of the inner workings is rudimentary at best. Friend had to get it machined to remove a bur, haven't got back to the range to test it. I checked my MCR, and lo and behold MY handguard was starting to separate too. Something to watch out for, I suppose. Great vid as always, what muzzle device do you have on yours?
Haven't had any issues like that myself. I do tend to loctite things if I take it apart though. The muzzle device I have is the True North Arms fake can (m4 style). Thanks for your support :)
I'm having the same issue with my mcr the handguard keeps moving forward after about 40 or 50 rounds. Doesn't matter what torque still keeps happening. Have you found a resolution to the issue?
most of the mag issues are caused by the aftermarket pin installed in canada, once you remove that, you will see how easy the mags seat themselves even with closed bolt
