I think he used the wrong part, this car will need a "wide barrel" short shifter which is the upgrade for the factory non-short shifter, the one he installed is the narrow barrel one which is for factory upgraded short shifter linkages, u can see when he put the pivot bushings into the new shifter the centre metal tube sticked out on both sides, and I feel this would cause some imprecision in the gates while shifting and possibly increased play in the shifter

@xAbre1200 correct. you shouldnt have to get under the car unless youre doing the bushings... and then u still dont need to completely take apart the linkage haha

It really depends on what car you have and how it is set up.

I know is about performance too as the shifter push the gears and does in relatively shorter distances between one and another but boy I just wanted to cut that out shifter in sentras are so long

I cut out some portion of the top shifter from a sentra made new tread with a tread maker that I already had and boom short shifter Only attempt this if you already own a tread maker since the are quite expensive

I don't wanna remove the shift link, I just want to take the shift stick out. Do i still need to get under the car?

This is painful to watch. You can literally do this in about 5-10 minutes without having to go under the car at all. Way to over complicate things.

Nothing wrong with that; this is the first mod many people will do on their cars.

You don't have to do any of this crap it the shifter pulls right out of its socket and you can pop in back in Cobb says you do it like that

Thinking about installing a short shifter in my 2001 Rs, looked some how to vids and came across this one. was wondering, do I need to unbolt mine from the bottoms too? I've seen some vids where people just work from the top of their car in the center dash console.

Um couldn't you just yank the oem shifter out instead of taking the whole thing apart?

This one look like it ended up with the same length as the older one

re useing the grease HA cmon man, buy new grease and at least an oem shift linkage bushing.
