Fascinating. I watched it 5 times in a row. I am now going to find a local Aikido School. Thank You. I hate fighting. This will enable me to avoid fighting. Again, Thank You, Mr. Christian Tissier Shihan
apictureofa carrot Before you do that I need to tell you that if in your local aikido school they teach Aikikai Aikido (The authentic basically) you are not going to learn anything amazing-fancy for the first 2-3 years of training. But in the end you'll be impressed by your skills and capabilities of evading the attacks and using your opponent' s weight and power against him/her! If you choose to train Aikido, believe me it's beautiful but you have to stick with it in order to see some changes.
Very good technical descriptions from Christian Tissier. Not sure if I could bring all the detail to bear that he presents here, but I can see what he is getting at. Very good.
You can like his aikido or not - I love the way he starts his techniques, but I feel it is usually a little harsh or to accelerated at the end. However, in this case, where he is teaching something very nice and subtle, it is absolutely brilliant! This is, by some distance, my favourite video of his.
I think this perform a higher Grading Leven and so it is useful. For Beginners very difficult. Because you dont learn, in no school to life your feeling. He is Shihan and he is french. This is enough for Baking his own bread and soup. How we say in Germany. I have feel him in a Seminar in Germany. He is very great and effizient. He is a mentor. Great video
The movement portrayed in this video, is a gold mine for a begginner, like myself, even though that i hold black belts in Shotokan and Tae kwon do, is very hard to be as effortlees, and fluid like the shihan Tissier, his motion is flawless
Very good explanation, its the same movement principle in Tai Chi Quan for the same reasons, its nice to see these principles in another martial art too...although the martial applications in Tai Chi Quan use more directions within this principle.
sensei domo arigato gosaimas for this extra ashisabaki. i shall attempt to learn it well . it seems like some kind of kendo footwork enter with no retreat whatsoever. very direct and into the point of execution, blessings to you sensie peace love and joy be with you valentin oc aikido -butokuden irvine- and aikido philipines
Hate to tell you, but this is "classical" Aikido. And no, it is not "realistic", but it sure is very beautiful. Tissier is famous for giving very sharp and clear demonstrations.
Thank you so much for posting this. Christian Tissier is awesome. I would love to train with him one day. Does he ever to the US? If so what is his schedule.
@kinza999 But that a) gives you considerably less control over any other direction and b) says "YOU! YOU AND ME!". Allot of different styles, allot of different stances. Although I never heard of an Aikido without the back foot being in some angle between 30-90degrees.
possible against boxer for example, if the aikidoka can cut into the boxer's position in such a way that the boxer can't generate power or combos properly. in regards to wrestling, just relax and don't tense up and give the wrestler the opportunity to ground you. however, i think it really depends on the aikidoka and his mindset in regards to his art.
Well, even then there are possibilities to make you "give your hands ahead" - like making you flinch, instinctly grabbing and the like. There's more than meets the eye... ;)
No disrespect but I was always taught to have both feet pointing in the same direction not at 90 degrees. Before you move your back foot, you have to turn it, a bit like saying here I come! But then what do I know
I practice kick boxing and I have a red belt in aikido. I believe aikido is for opponents who grap you or have a knife so I do not think an aikido guy can win a boxer unless he has mastered his skills.
+jtstar10 I reassure you, I practice the Iwama style Aikido and I always found it a bit ridiculous ... say it is more a fad than anything else, the fashion of example to make a big uke "wave" before falling ... it's a bit stupid, I'll admit, but it does not diminish the quality of the special technique of Christian Tissier.
