Is basing universal per type? One of the annoying things with DBA / ADLG is the whole "some inf are this size, some this size, some skirmishers this size, some cav this size" basing convention. I get it's for speed of reference on the tabletop but annoying to plan for modelling wise. Also holy shit, you weren't kidding about the scale. Looking at some of these 10k point army examples it's like 75+ BASES of units for an army. That's a lot, dude.
From what Ive seen it looks pretty consistent for basing, I haven't noticed a lot of variance between armies with the same types of units. If you want to go big with 75+ bases be my guest lol I go to about 35 or 40, any more than that and I start to have wicked thoughts with my paint brush...
