The Acceptable Casualties are a small group of historical wargamers located in Northern Colorado. We are looking to produce a catalog of entertaining battle reports, hobby segments and podcasts geared toward the historical wargaming community.
You can use your FoW models with no issues. You'll just need a way to mark how many casualties your bases of infantry take during the course of the battle.
I'm still alive and kickin'!!! I haven't been war gaming much as of late. My buddies / kids are trying to get me into 40k and Judge Dredd, not sure if that's going to result in new battle reports or not. I got a bit burnt out on writing / playing historicals so that type of content might be on ice for a while...
For anyone still watching these, there is a mistake in that you do not have to spend an order moving reinforcements, they can just be left on the edge of the table and the orders used elsewhere; that might have helped the Russians a bit.
Could the far Stug have retired back towards the hotel and the incoming german infantry arrive on the nearside of the board to support the new Stug against advancing US infantry ?
The fields are from Hotz Artworks in Canada but I think they are out of production. The material to make them seems like it's just felt for the fields with some glue and hobby grass / tufts for the crops.
I does a really good job of coverage on bases and won't crack if you put a decent coat on. I've also used it for mud effects on boots and it does a really nice job.
It's been 2 years... geez. I'm trying to get back into gaming after a bit of a hiatus. My buddy talked me into starting 40k so that might get the juices flowing to turn on the camera and start doing batreps again. I'm not sure what game systems we'd be doing though.
Do you find it hard with the battle group rules to keep a track of casualties when you base them in 3/4s? I’ve seen a lot of guys basing individually when playing the game.
I eventually converted a few platoons over to individual bases to avoid having wound dice all over the table. Even at 15mm having the infantry individually based makes the game better visually on the table. The only downside is moving them all for an URA!!! charge :)
Trying to figure out the difference between this and raw umber acrylic paint, matt gel medium and fine sand. Is there anything special or it just premixed?
I enjoy using it for the convivence of it being premixed. I'm not a huge modeler so this just makes the process more enjoyable for me because I get a better result versus me doing it with raw materials.
Maybe too late to the scene, but what model ranges are used in this? Thats not just plain FoW right? Also where did you get the rounded bases? Look really nice with the smaller bases on them. Ps. Thanks for all the battlegroup coverage!
Hey Al. I'm pretty sure the model ranges are from a mix of FoW and Old Glory / Command Decision. My buddy made those bases by hand and IIRC. They are small metal washers with the larger base being magnetized "Paper".
I haven't come across these rules before but i lost interest when they said a tank had been "pinned" what exactly is that simulating ? how do you pin a tank, yes infantry can be pinned own (forced to cower in fear " but how are a tank crew pinned - if you are in atank being shot at you move - you don't cower down in fear, sorry that's just too "gamey" for my taste.
I think they use the term "Pinned" for consistencies sake when it comes to the rules writing. My guess is that it could be just another way to say the tank crew has been shell shocked by an incoming shell or a grenade going off in/near the turret.
It's been a LONG time since I went out and did any wargaming here in NoCo. Our group kind of died out once covid hit and most of the dice rolling ended up happening at peoples houses.
Sorry for the late reply... I'm not sure if I'm going to be doing any more battle reports. As much as I've enjoyed doing them I just haven't had the time or motivation to get back into the groove.
Thats a real pity I always liked your reports and am having issues with understanding some rules in MEG and was hoping you might make them clearer. many thanks for the previous reports still enjoy seeing them have a good life. Rex
Question on moral, if your unit routs due to moral (rolling 1 or 2 for infantry) and it is below 50% does is count as destroyed for pulling Battle Rating Chits?
I just bought it a couple of days ago, I was looking for a way of making fun knight tournaments that aren't too easy (something like Full Tilt or To Cry a Joust), while also not overwhelming my players (Jouist Heroes of the List or using the rules from the ASOIAF TTRPG), and this was recommended to me. I'm absolutely in love with the system, already had a couple of mock combats to see how fluid it is, so now I'm off to making some terrain to play in! Sons of Mars is on my wishlist already!
