This video inspired me to deal with my situation but to change it. I am taking back my power. No more depression. I am taking charge. I will push forward looking for work every day for 8 hours. Don't neglect to 1 invest in yourself, try to self teach a marketable skill whether it's as simple as typing or cleaning or driving delivery. Take 30-60 minutes each day and practice to make yourself better. 2 volunteer, around town or at local businesses, offer to give them one day a week in exchange for training and references, even if they can't hire you direct. Build a network of people who trust you, so when an opportunity comes up, they will refer YOU to a job that you never would have known about otherwise.

Sometimes writing can be healing for us. Life breaks us down and truthfully? Some things don't happen for a reason or there isn't a lesson to learn, so don't let anyone tell you that about your situation. Grief comes in waves and is equal to the love we hold for the one lost. If it helps you, write your feelings out on paper. Take care Brad ❤

I lost my Dad to cancer after caring for him for 10 months, then my closest brother to cancer, then my dog. I lost one of my closest friends to covid last year. I've also lost the last 10 years of my life to health anxiety and depression because of the trauma of it all. I'm just slowly coming out of the worst depression I've had in my life, which lasted the last 3 months. I started to feel a bit better today then this video pops up on my RU-vid recommended and I'm so glad it did. This is the most inspirational and honest video I've seen on RU-vid, and I've seen many. SAS was the start of special forces from the USA. Their SAS helped train the early special forces for the USA. I was stationed in Berlin Germany in my army days. 1976 to 1979 at mcNair barracks. It was long ago I think the unit I was in was 4th bn 6th infantry. Don't remember all anymore. We had war games against the royal Marines. They were tough and in shape. They could run up mountains with full ruck sack and seem to never tire. The French also had war games with us and they were pretty much useless as soldiers. We did not even waste our time with them 8nstead trained with the royal Marines in our war games. Long ago. Since that time I spent 7 years in combat zones in iraq and 1 year in Afghanistan to get combat zone pay and overseas allowance. 8 years total. Met a girl and foolishly lost my house and everything. At 63 I'm retired on a small social security pension. The social security office lost 4 years of my earnings in Iraq and they said they would fix it they never did. Retired in southeast Asia where I can afford to eat and rent a place. Would have preferred to stay in USA but my monthly income is to small I would be homeless. Live in small 1 room place that has electric and running water and private. Life is ok.

Billy’s childhood was similar to mine and nearly all other people that joined the forces in the 70’s. The cadets and joining the forces, offered a way out. But you had to want it bad enough, when you have nothing you have nothing to lose.

As a young troop commander leading my soldiers on a combat fitness test, complete with MANPADS and the usual kit (we passed the load up and down the lines to take our fair share), I was shocked to find tabbing along just behind and to the side of me General Peter DLB our new GOC. He drew up alongside me, where we continued to converse for about ten minutes (still doubling along). Then the general dropped a gear and pulled ahead of us at ever increasing speed, with his staff in tow, to catch up with the troop half a kilometre ahead of us. Without doubt, to man, we all moved quicker and felt several inches taller. A very quiet but inspiring man.

I remember watching my mum die of cancer over the 6 months she had left. For couple of years it changed the person I was, very withdrawn and wishing I could see my mum again. Realising she wasn’t coming back I push myself in my career from carpenter, site manager and now project manager. When my dad died about 20yrs after it put me in a better mental state to handle the grief. Everyone is different and has a story to tell and like Billy said keep moving forward is the best thing to do.

Life is tough, so you have to be tougher. I ruptured the base of my spine 3 years ago, all nerves below the waist are now dead, no feeling except my little toes. My surgeon told me after he’d operated that I’d probably never walk again, certainly after the next three months I’d be paralysed. I listened to him. Nodded. Thanked him. The day I was released, I walked 12 steps. The day after, a mile. That took over an hour, but I did it. I walked day after day after day, stumbling and panicking but never stopping. Then lockdown hit, I walked further, I got stronger and faster and I never stopped. Now, I walk 12 miles a day, I cycle 10, I’ve started stretching my upper body more and more to gain more strength and I’m never going to quit. I still can’t feel my legs, and I never will, but I proved my surgeon wrong. I can walk. Not in spite of my nerve damage, but because of it. I listen to my footsteps, I look for objects that might trip me, I feel the ground as it vibrates up to my chest. I’m stronger now than I ever have been, and if I can do this, then just imagine what you can accomplish with a cold, or not enough money. Don’t let your shortcomings rule you future

Thank you Mark and the Mulligan Brothers for this outstanding work. I watched the full interview which was off the scale, and now to have found a summary of the key elements that resonated with me is brilliant. To be honest, this should be shown in schools/colleges to start to build back both self-esteem and self-discipline into students which has been eroded over the last 30 years through a mix of policy and technology such as social media.

This man has the courage of his convictions and is not the kind to suffer fools gladly. I served in my time in the US Air Force and have been privileged to have known many such veterans such as he. When 🤔 life happens it isn't always a good outcome. Everything is cyclical and there are no "do overs" in life. Good video and inspirational 👏 👍 content!
