Alan and Dave had one of the most substantive, informative debates about Israel-Palestine I’ve ever seen. They both did a good job pointing out each other’s blind spots. Good on both of you guys for keeping it civil and sticking with the evidence.

While I don't fully agree with Alan, I also can't help but notice the deluge of racist rhetoric both in the chat and in this comment section. The typical "Hurr durr, he's only saying that because he's part-Lebanese," and "Palestinians don't exist, they're all from Egypt and Syria," bs. Like, people on both sides don't even bother to hide their bigotry when it comes to Israel-Palestine.
Minor quibble: Theodore Herzl was dead by the time the Haavara Agreement was a thing. It was Haim Arlosoroff who negotiated the deal with Nazi Germany. Arlosoroff was desperately trying to save German Jews and managed to get 50,000 of them granted exit visas. But negotiating with Nazis was extremely controversial within Zionist circles for obvious reasons. This prompted Arlosoroff’s assassination in 1933, allegedly at the hands of the Stern Gang.
@theteamhouse First, thank you for your service and sacrifice for all of us who sleep safely in our homes each night thank to you and your comrades. I’m eager to know if your honorable guest is familiar with RAH and if he can please share any details 🙏
I respect the hell out of this man, his service, and his right to his opinion. I disagree with a lot of his take on this. I do respect his right to voice what he believes.
Again, if team house wants to make money, they need to cut the interviews up obviously have the same long form as they always have but make markers to different points of the interviews and put those on RU-vid and short form it will make your views 10 times as much in the matter of a month
Nadav Pollak would be a good rebuttal guest. Hospitality always works wonders on individuals. Seems like it had an outsized effect on the guest. A granular experience is not always helpful. A larger view is needed.
Alan Shebaro's observations of life in the West Bank are a valuable perspective, although I will admit his detractors have a point about him lacking context about certain situations (the separation wall, for example). A lot of the myths or rumors Alan heard about the West Bank were probably a mix of facts about the Gaza Strip (ruled by Hamas, very different from the Fatah-controlled West Bank) and straight-up propaganda or racist stereotypes. There's no simple, straightforward answer to the Israel-Palestine conflict. The best we can do is listen to a mix of on-the-ground perspectives, listen to both moderate Israelis and moderate Palestinians as well as outside observers who've been there like Alan Shebaro. This situation won't end until we put a human face back on both sides and stop demonizing each other.
@@pbigzz yeah it’s the easy way out u here how the old guy supports Israel but then says he hasn’t done much research on the region the warrior class needs to wake tf up
Or the tank that went into the kibbutz and killed 13 people knowing there were hostages there. It's obvious they are brainwashed by our government and the media.
Dee, after watching the rest of Alan's take on Israel/Palestine, literally every single point he tried to make is erroneous and 100% false. I am crafting my email to you outlining my background and bonafides highlighting qualifications to discuss/debate the topic (3 years of service in the IDF) , and requesting to come on the show and debate Alan, if he would come back, or anyone else for that matter who shares the same/similar views. I've been a longtime viewer/fan of The Team House, and I don't think I've ever seen anyone from the IDF as a guest. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to request an appearance. אהבה ושלום
Hi, I could really care less what you guys do to hamas, but maybe you can answer why Americans should be ok with you guys stealing our nuclear secrets, bribing our politicians into starting wars against your enemies and giving you billions of our taxpayer money. And we don't even get a military base in your country. Can you justify that?
Every comment is just claiming he is anti Semitic when he said multiple times he has nothing against Jews or even individuals in the IDF. Apparently it’s okay to paint all palestines as rabid animals yet if you think the Israeli government is bad you somehow hate all Jews.
Btw, I'm currently reading the book "Iron Curtain" by Anne Applebaum. Eastern Europe was invaded by Hitler & Stalin. During & after WWII, Eastern Europe was not paid much attention to, except by USSR & Stalin. The US & Britain didn't want to lose more lives by fighting against the Red Army. Civilians in Eastern Europe were raped & factories & trains stolen as reparations by the Comintern under Stalin. I'm glad Sweden & Finland joined NATO recently & I'm hopeful Ukraine will soon.
Also, that US SF guy conveniently forgets the weekly rocket attack by Hamas on Israel before oct 9. If gaza is open air prison then how Hamas have so many rockets to fire at Israel on weekly basis but not food and water!!?? When gazans and Hamas trying to kill Israelis everyday, how can Israelis treat those who are trying to kill Israelis in a peaceful manner!? The two nations theory is put forward by Israelis, it was Hamas who opposed it. Now Israelis knows that the two nations theory won't work so they aren't interested in doing anything about it, that doesn't mean Israel is the trouble makker. And Hamas wants to kill Jews, watch documentaries on gaza, even kids are singing songs like "kill Jews, rape jew girls". If this is the level of extremism in that area there is no hope of peaceful coexistence. Alan is noting but a pro Hamas guy who is trying to project himself as neutral guy. My request is, put some Israeli guy there to counter what alan is saying. Even a none Israeli like me see lot of false narrative in what alan is saying.
I’m not sure how the fact that hamas get weapons proves it isn’t an open air prison. They are supported by literally every country that surrounds Israel and black markets exist in even the most authoritarian regimes. Not even trying to argue one way or the other but your logic is very flawed.
Maybe you should all why they're fighting back against the Israeli occupation..... but the IOF and they're mentally handicapped supporters don't want to talk about the truth or be honest.
Rockets. Not bombs. How many people are killed by said rockets? Cruelty made and highly inaccurate. Good thing they have the iron dome. I'm pretty sure both sides want harm the other. I have watched for 304 days as Isreal snipes kids, films their war crimes. It's all on the internet for the world to see. Settlers burning aid. Children!! There's plenty of video of schools filled with isreali children being taught to hate. The ICJ has even said it is indeed apartheid and that Netanyahu is in fact a war criminal. How anyone can defend jen o side, especially when it has been to their people is mind-blowing.
Great job TH! I love it when you have the occasional wacko on to give their point of view! This guy is just as bad as Roger Waters! One of the worst episodes. A new low LOL.
Name 1 middle eastern country where the jews community has thrived: Palestine pre the zionist migration, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Morocco, Iran, Yemen. Is this guy dense or what? Look up Avi Shlaim, an Iraqi Jew. He eloquently explains how the European jewish story is not reflective of the Arab jewish story (yes, Arab Jewish, because to be Jewish is to adhere to Judaism, it's not an ethnicity. Jesus was a Palestinian Jew).
This guy thinks he 'knows' what he is talking about but makes so many factually incorrect statements (it doesn't matter who he 'supports'). This was hard to watch.
If anyone wants to raise any specific claims Alan has made, I'd be happy to refute them 1 at a time, but they are too numerous to cover in a comment. I'll select 2 because they were the most mentioned. 1, the targeting of civilians by the IDF: the IDF takes great care to minimize collateral damage and the harming of civilians, going so far as to drop leaflets and send text messages / phone calls warning civilians to flee and area before military action is taken. Unfortunately, Gaza is one of the most densely populated areas in the world and it is impossibly to completely avoid collateral damage. Also, Hamas uses civilians as human shields and civilian infilstructure as cover and bases for cover: i.e schools, hospitals, mosques etc. Hamas, on the other hand, deliberately targets civilians, launching rockets willy nilly at civilians centers, targeted terrorist attacks against civilians directly, as seen and broadcast on Oct 7th and innumerable times before: car ramming children at bus stops, shooting up gatherings at synagogues on the holiest of days to jews, etc etc. This brings to the next point, for every innocent jew murdered, the terrorists responsible or their family are compensated through the "pay for slay"fund that Hamas and the PA give $450 million annually to. This is half of the $900 million they receive annually in international aid. This figure is directly from the WA Post, among numerous other sources. As for Netanyahu paying Hamas, they are the controlling power and responsible for distributing aid. If Israel didn't "pay" Hamas, he would be crying that Israel withholds aid from Palestinians. I said I would refute 2 points, but I just heard him speak of Palestinians being raped to death.. Hamas terrorists, and Palestinian civilians that entered committed atrocities with them, literally filmed them raping and murdering many jewish civilians on Oct 7th. Lastly, approximately 20% (2,000,000) of the Israeli population are Arab citizens with equal rights, and when they were recently polled, an overwhelming amount responded that they prefer living as free Israeli citizens than under Hamas or PA rule.
Big fan of the show guys. I offer this feedback in a constructive spirit, appreciating that 1) airing a wide diversity of views is paramount and 2) it's not uncommon for legitimate criticism of Israel to be lazily dismissed with false claims of anti-Semitism etc. All that said, this guest is so egregiously ignorant and ideological at so many points, my personal judgment call, were this my show, would be to take the episode down. (I know it's NOT my show, and I'm just an internet anon, but I appreciate your considering my POV here for what little it might be worth.) I think leaving it up majorly undercuts your credibility. Just as one example of this guy's crackpottery, around 1h22m Shebaro claims Hamas does not have genocidal attitudes toward Israel and Jews. It does, explicitly. It has demonstrated this in word and deed countless times, perhaps most memorably on October 7th. Don't get distracted by this guy's obscurantism around what is or isn't in the latest draft of the Hamas charter or whatever other BS he throws out there. And it's not just senior Hamas leadership with virulently anti-Semitic views. A Pew survey of Palestinians in both Gaza and the West Bank revealed that 97% of the population has an unfavorable opinion of Jews. Not Israel; Jews. And what does this guy think "From the River to the Sea" means? It means getting rid of ALL Jews from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. I could give you 50 other examples where this guy is just so full of mistruths and half-truths and fallacies and BS - so far gone ideologically - that it's just not a good look for you guys to have given him this much oxygen and to leave this episode up. Keep up the great work with the show overall. I appreciated that you tried to push back on this guy at points. But it's hard to check a clever ideologue / crackpot in real time when they're just bowling over all the china in the shop.
This guy doesn't sound credible at all. As a watcher/listener for over 3 years I am really disappointed in you guys. I figured your bullshit meter was a little more fine tuned and there would be a little more pushback, but I guess I was wrong. Once he used the term "Israeli occupation forces" my BS meter lit up like a Christmas tree! He clearly just hates Jews and doesn't think the state of Israel should exist. I could see maybe one negative encounter with IDF, but when you say every encounter was hostile, the odds of that happening are not likely. Guards just pointing a rifle from a tower for no reason? I at least hope you guys have on someone that tells the other side of the story.
@@DeadBoyJJ Alan is speaking from first hand experience putting his name and face to his words so I'm not sure why you would think an anonymous commenter on RU-vid suffices as a more credible source.
