I appreciate your videos so much because they helped me decide on what I truly want to do with my life. I’m hoping to specialize in sports so I can help others that experience the same thing I have.

@@prabjotkaur5317 I love that. you would make an amazing geriatric PT. Most of the geriatric patient that I see love to have conversations; they just want someone to talk to you know? You will 1000% differentiate yourself with a fellowship under you. I would also say that I think there are ways to get your OCS and SCS at the same time since, a lot of them overlap. You just have to take extra courses and sports observation hours to get that SCS

Both professions are great, but of course I am more supportive of being a PT. The difference in schooling is a lot more to become a OCS PT tho. In order to become a PT, you need to have a bachelors degree (4-6 years), and graduate from a DPT program (2-3 years). Then after you finish your DPT, you need to do a residency for 1 year and then take the certification program. You can also bypass the residency and start working as a PT, but you need to accumulate like 2000 hours (or something like that) of outpatient ortho clinical hours before you are eligible to take the certification exam. Hope that helps!

I think pelvic floor is amazing and we definitely need more of these PTs. You can be a part of the emerging pelvic floor PTs!!! Haha wow both your ACLS? Poor knees... I’m sorry you had to go through that. Did going through PT, inspire you to want to get into this profession?

@@drjustinleedpt Yep, exactly that! I was working as a professional horse trainer and (although ironically the knees were not a horse-related injury) after I did the second one in I decided I wanted a long-term career that wasn't going to be so demanding on my body. And physical therapy seemed the way to go.

@@WildMustangShadowfax hmmm well... in some cases PT can actually be a little demanding on the body. Like constantly using your hands and your trunk to hold limbs, stretch them and move things around. As a PT you have to be really careful on body mechanics because a lot of PT hurt themselves (ironically) due to poor mechanics and posture haha but if you wanted to talk more about this, id love to chat about it. I’m in my first summer of PT school and I am interested in electropathology and neuro. Trying to find a way to combine both of them. I like PT bc it’s all a puzzle and mind game. And I feel those to specialties together could break ground on amazing advancement in our field. Overall I am extremely interested in electropathology over neuro just because of the few amount of people in it and the man new possibilities.

I’ve been interested in PT since I was 15-16 when I had to go to PT for my knee. The process of it was fascinating because it was to treat patients and motivate them. I had an injury during track and couldn’t run for the rest of my hs years. I’ve always loved sports, motivating people, and even love kids. I’ve been afraid to take a step forward because idk if this was right for me. What if I end up not enjoying PT? I’ve also let my anxiety get the best of me. Today, I’m 23 and I’m gonna finally major in sports medicine. Your video has brought me clarity and I appreciate you so much. I haven’t began school yet and wanted to know what’s the best way to go about it without falling into so much dept or even applying for the wrong school/classes?

Neuro because of when I got in an car accident and had a serious concussion, I saw a PT that specialized in concussions so I saw this as an option mainly out of curiosity.
