I often ride mine with the motor completely off (or at 10% using micro tune) when heading out with friends on analog bikes. There is basically zero resistance, it’s just a heavier normal bike for these scenarios. Best all-rounder bike I’ve ever had!
JUST bought me one of these (LEVO SL Carbon Comp) , and u called out all the points out correctly, Luved if it had a bigger range EXT or bigger main battery, but its great having as a secondary bike to my other FULL-Powered!
Awesome video Sam and some food for thought. Took my much-loved full fat Levo into the shop for its service last week and the Levo SL Comp Carbon (the only one in my price range) was sitting there, winking at me, with a grand off the RRP too. I am very tempted because, given I ride the full fat Levo in Eco pretty much 99% of the time, I think it would be the perfect complement to the full fat Levo for me. So, so tempted.

You just described my life 😊 I got this bike and a young family. I ride with my analogue monster physique friends once a week and without this bike I could never have kept up. Not a week goes by without someone cracking a joke at my expense though 😅, but it is all worth it. I LOVE this bike and without it I would have been a couch potato instead of out with the boys.

Completely agree, the motor is way quiter, the power enough for normal riding and the range without extender is good for an after work ride in full on mode or a two hour ride putting some effort. And with the range extender you can keep up with full power Ebikes if they're not in turbo the whole ride 😅
Not being a fan of specialized mtbikes this one is very nice and I’m sure it’s a good bike but overall I feel that there’s better options out there at a lower price point I just can’t justify the price of these new emtbs and truly believe that you don’t need a decked out ebike to have just as much fun as you would on a lower priced one but everyone has their preferences and reasons to justify buying the bike they have and personally think that people wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between any of the bike brands if they didn’t know what they were riding but whatever you like you like good job though on this review you really go into detail
Correction Sam, your trail setting let you access both peak torque AND peak power. The difference with boost is that you have to put twice the leg input to access it. So in a quick burst, you’ll have the same result as in boost, but in ‘’normal’’ climbing, the power output is half , so range is increased.
Hey mate thanks for the comment, I’ll need to check this but I know this system very well and having 100% motor power is giving you the full access to the 50nm of torque and 50% ease is supporting you so you add the some watts from your Legs and it ramps up and feels like a automatic mode well that’s how I understand it but let’s me check I’m right.
That’s also how I understand that graph. Power is just a function of rpm and torque - so I don’t think it would make sense to have “full torque but not full power”.

After riding two Years the Kenevo SL, i ride the SL 2 now. The "noise" is "better", the "Power" is ok- but, the Range is going down. I ride: 30/30, 60/60, 100/ 100. On a Tour, with 80 km, the Motor runs only ca. 30 km. When i come back: ther eis a Rest of 30%. BEST Bike for me! (After over 10 Years BOSCH)
For me the power is enough. The bike doesnt fell like emtb in downhill. Im have the chance to change thw fork for a fox 38 170 mm. What you think about put a 170? Anyone have tried it?
If you put in the same amount of power you go a lot farther... because the motor of the full power ebike is not pushing as hard... but if you let yourself carry by it it will shure need the same amount or even more than.....
I would love to see larger batteries paired with 1.2 Specialized motor ot TQ motor (at least as an option). I hate the look of range extenders and low weight does not necessarily need to limit the range of the bikes which can easily by used for long trips.
I never had a issu with the sound from the Specialized 1.1 engine from any of my two Emtb's, until one and a half year and 2000 km hard cykling and high pressure washing💀 The sound that occurs now is ONLY when the motor is of or when the engine is on and over the speed limit 25km/h. What can the problem be🤔
Tried one this weekend, not for me, 22miles range. Motor stopped at 11%🤔. That was mostly in eco or trail. Some trails didn't really feel as though motor on. Lightweight bike, easy to move around etc which is good. if just in bike parks it's fine, but longer rides just too much effort required from rider, unless you're really fit. If it had a bit more power / battery it would be good. I really wanted to like it but for me it will be full fat. Also these tests on you tube are always in dry dusty conditions, but in UK clag mud perhaps slipping around does not help range or motor feel
That sounds odd, i started a ride the other day with only 56% battery, did 35km with about 1200 assent and still had 26% left on the battery, mainly eco and some trail that i use to boost, my eco setting is 25/25 and trail is 35/50 and i do use it to assist, my weight is about 66kg riding
@@jonibz1456 this is precisely the reason I hired one to try out. Very mixed messages on range etc. varies dramatically depending on rider, style, conditions etc. I'm approx 85kg
@@tadge74 yeah this is true, i only have had it for a month so experimenting with the distance on local rides, i was on a normal enduro bike cycling up with a group of 80% EMTB's so pretty fit, but at 55 i notice i feel i need to start chilling out more, but is till want to put the effort in. by tweaking the settings i have it feeling right for that, and i normaly turn of on the downs, i was surprised how much battery i had left at the end of ride's and dont think i will even need the extender on out local trails. But then i notice others in our group on full fat bikes, just powering up the hills and getting the bike todo all the work for them, which is also fine, its trying to suss out what is right for your kind of riding, im happy these SL bike have now come along, demoing the full fat bikes, i was not into them at all. its a great time to have these options.
@@tadge74 i am on a island in Spain, so no bike park, just a lot of natural rooty rocky up and downs, i keep my normal bike for visiting the alps and mainland when i get the chance.
Being more of a cross-country/trail rider and at 205-210 pounds kitted up, I found a 29 at the rear to be a more stable and faster rolling experience. However, the original mullet setup feels a bit more agile for doing tight switchback turns.
