Fishing out of Bayou La Batre towards the end of march I was feeling optimistic this chilly morning and decided to throw nothing but a Rapala skitter walk topwater lure hoping that i could pick up a few quality Speckled Trout for the dinner table. With the warmer water temperatures and the overcast morning, i was sure that id be somewhat successful. Other than the 3 dozen missed blowups, i rounded up a few to eat and more just for fun. Thanks for watching, liking, and commenting I appreciate all the support.

I will say the best luck I've had on top water with any inshore species was a super spook jr. fish absolutely love those things.

Yessir, I seem to have better luck with redfish on those. Either way, when they are fired up and feeding im not sure it matters a whole lot Lol

Nice! When I was younger, I leaned the pole back and went to sling it and about tore my dads scalp in half as he was behind me and his head received the lure with both Trebel hooks

Yesterday morning my dad and I went up to the west end of the island pretty early while the water was slick. I was getting 4-6 blow ups on every cast and almost all of them were specs in the 3-7 pound range. Its by far the most amazing top water experience fresh or salt water I have ever had in my life! Man I didnt want to drive back home after that
@CaptCollier

@@CaptCollier Specks are open year round....Where I'm at north of Tampa the limit is 5 PP 15" to 20" with one over 20"....These fish have already moved offshore from the back country and I don't bother chasing them.....When they move off the Gulf about November into the back country they usually are reel thick....Last couple of years who knows!!

When I was a kid fishing off the side of the road at big creek lake, I was trying to put a worm on the hook and knocked my pole off the bank into the water snatching the hook into my finger. For some reason I thought I could stop the rod falling by holding onto the hook really tight LOL
@CaptCollier
@CaptCollier 3 года назад
Haha hey whatever you gotta do to save the rod + reel. I’ve jumped overboard for one after a fish snatched it out of the rod holder.
