Great video! It seemed like the non winglet aircraft had an easier time in the crosswind. Saw a couple of three point landings! Kudos to the Chinese and Japanese crews that flew all night then had to deal with that. Also to the crews that initiated an early go around. Always an ego buster if five planes in front of you landed and you have to go around. No shame in that.

03:54 Driving it into the runway, Nose gear first, spoilers out to prevent bouncing and log another "Crosswind Landing done by ME".

On a flight into Maui I was in a left side window seat, over the wing. Coming in I was looking right down the runway. Last second, the pilot snaps her around and lands smooth as silk. These were Hawaiian airlines pilots and they flew Island to island. Not sure if they still are, but 30 years ago, they were used more like buses, up and down, island to island all day long. I complimented the captain on his flying skill, and he said, no big deal, we get to practice cross wind landings all the time.

A special double ovation for the two Lufthansa that had to abort their landings when they were only feet off the deck! OMG! To take the plane from landing speed to having to push it back up, an amazing piece of flying.

This is gotta be one of my favorite spot. Great view of the runway and the approaching plane. Once they landed, you get to see a full display of the plane again, taxiing in front of you in full experience. Great spot not just for camera, but for people themselves to really see the plane.

Air India pilots done a great job, one of the best landings shown in this video.

I’m glad your title didn’t insult the pilots like a lot of videos do. They’ll say TERRIBLE LANDINGS when in reality it’s a heavy crosswind where the pilots are using high skill levels to land the plane safely.

I love to see a go around, professionals in action.

That is clearly wind gust situation, but not a crosswind at all. Most german pilots made the same mistake: they kept steep glide slope with "lower engine percentage"...and made so many unnecessary go-around procedures. Good camera work. Thanks.

Frankfurt is a major hub, maybe the busiest in Europe. I'm surprised they don't have perpendicular runways and so avoid most crosswind situations.

Oh my God, I can't only imagine the passengers white knuckling those arm rests while they attempt landing only to have a go around. Also, the Air China and JAL pilots are kicking ass!!!

It's all about the physics....big, heavy, wide-body has less difficulty than an A319/320/321. Fun to watch. Couple of the Captains "flew the plane into the runway", too a "firm" landing and called it good. I've been involved in a few of those, as a passenger, but it felt like it must feel like, making a carrier landing....WHHHOOOMMMP......then heavy braking.

Just trying to imagine almost 12 hours from Tokyo to Frankfurt and then it's time to land in a friggin tornado...

Wow, das sind in der Tat spektakuläre Crosswind - Landungen auf der Nordwest in FRA! Habe sowas vor zwei Tagen in BSL beobachtet, als ich dort in Blotzheim (F) am Spotterpoint war. Einen Go Around gab es dort allerdings nicht. Die hohe Kunst der Crosswind - Landungen: Am eindrucksvollsten zu sehen bei der BAe 146 von WDL Aviation. Ein schräg zur Landebahn ausgerichteter Anflug und eine nach unten gedrückte Nase, um den Wind so wenig Angriffsfläche, wie möglich, zu bieten. Bei manchen Landungen hatte ich das Gefühl, kleinere Scherwinde wahrgenommen zu haben, die manche Maschinen nochmal kurzeitig vor den Touchdowns leicht angehoben haben. Kann mich aber natürlich auch täuschen... Das sind eigentlich die gefährlichsten Winde für Piloten, da sie einfach unberechenbar sind und kurz vor dem Aufsetzen in Bodennähe auftreten und ein Go Around in diesem Fall nicht mehr möglich ist. Allerdings treten diese eigentlich eher bei Unwettern bzw. Gewitterböen auf. Die letzte Aufnahme ist wirklich grandios! Der A220-300 der Air Baltic auf dem Taxiway und die untergehende Sonne im Hintergrund. Das ist wirklich genial aufgenommen! Vielen Dank für dieses großartige Video & unbedingt weiter so!!! Beautiful. Especially the 787s. I already saw one land. It's so quiet. I'm from Philippines Davao. Qatar Airways has flights there every Friday. They use the 787. The sound is more silent than a regional jet. I thought that it was a regional jet such as the Avro RJ100.

Mir ist es irgendwann zu langweilig geworden und konnte totzdem nicht abschalten. Flugzeuge sind schon fanzinierend. Traurig, was miesen Job sich Boeing bei der 737 Max geleistet hat. Find' es sehr geil, dass Du die A340 aus Shenyang erwischt hast. Bin die meiste Zeit in der kleineren Nachbarstadt Fushun bei meiner Verlobten. Shenyang liegt in der nordöstlichen Provinz Liaonig in China. BMW hat dort seine zwei größten Autowerke für Asien. Bin gerade in Shenzhen, morgen zurück in Fushun.

I wish we still had observation decks at our airports here in the USA...
