It gets even more complicated when you learn there's like five different attractions and some aromantics do feel romantic attraction on some level, just less than non-aromantics. Discerning the difference becomes easier when you really look back and look at your crushes and wonder if you really wanted them or you just 'decided' on a crush more so BC you thought you were meant to have one, or if you ever imagined yourself growing up to be in a relationship was it always in the far future? Could you actually imagine being with someone and doing those activities or were you always disembodied from the experience? Could you really imagine someone's face or was it blurry? Was it more so of just a vague placeholder? What you are saying about wanting someone to depend on, could honestly just be a queer platonic relationship as well. It's a very deep and non-romantic relationship that could be mistaken by outsiders as romantic. You could call it best friends as well, but most people aren't as close with their best friends anymore like in the Victorian ages and some aromantics raise entire families with their QPR partner yet are just BFFs. Or, it could be cupioromantic or lithoromantic you might be able to relate to most which are both aromantics spectrum and sound similar to your experience. I swear love is such a drug to me at least but like- I liked my friend and so I confessed my love to her and she was in a relationship with another girl at the time and she said “oh well I like you more than my girlfriend anyways” so than we started dating and yes she told the girl she was dating that she liked me more. Which was kinda mean how she said it- but I was so happy until she started to talk about this one boy a lot. She always talked about him and never really talked about anything else even to her friends. It was that boy and not me. I got jealous and than found out she actually liked him but I didn’t break up right away cause I loved her to much. But I did after a month of it. But than 3 weeks later I said I still loved her and she said the same. This was over text cause it was summer. I later found out she was cheating on me with the girl so I broke up with her....guess what...I got back with her...yay...anyways start of school this year we were dating everything was fine we shared our first kiss it was amazing....until she paid no attention to me and all she would do was make fun of me. I broke up with her and said I’m not her friend either For my good. The next day she was crying. But I know her it was fake tears. She wanted people to hate me but I wasn’t in the wrong right?
